  1. Started watching Barbarians, ?. Shit . White boy Rick , worth a watch , good acting, and based on a true story, I watched the Netflix documentary about it as well . The level of corruption in this case is staggering.
  2. Nice video FD . I’ve got a fox on the shoot at the moment and it’s embarrassing me . The woman who keeps her horses near the park filmed a fox playing with a muntjac and walking straight past a group of pheasants and WhatsApped it to the boss . The boss has seen it on a couple of mornings when he’s been walking the dogs . I’ve seen it but not had my rifle with me . The tractor driver has seen it and the herdsman has seen it and text me . I’ve now got my .243 with me all the time . I’ve been feeding earlier so that I can wait for it in the morning, and I’ve been out at night . I know where abou
  3. Thanks for that Ben . My brain is writing cheques that my body can’t cash .?
  4. Good to see Stavross and the boys had a good day . I went beating on the local commercial shoot . They had a good day . We were warned that they weren’t the best shots and it might be a struggle, but they shot quite well . It wasn’t a good flying day for the birds , no wind and clear sky , bright sunshine, but the birds flew surprisingly well . A different day to my last day on Saturday, which saw us get soaking wet , however the guns enjoyed themselves and we exceeded the bag and there seems to be plenty of birds around. We’ve got a long break now and hope to be shooting again
  5. Me too , I was read the riot act on Sunday by the wife , my youngest daughter who is 25 brought her boyfriend home for Sunday dinner . It’s only the second boyfriend she had brought home and she seems keen , and I’m keen for her to move out , so I behaved myself, made a bit of small talk , tried to sound interested in his job ? , good grief. Nobody told me parenting was this hard .
  6. No offence taken . I’m tucked away in my own little world down here . ?
  7. I was speaking to a keeper on a commercial shoot a minute ago about the lockdown and one of the problems he mentioned he could be facing is disease. Normally the birds are being moved around and their numbers thinned out. November can be a wet and mild month . There could be a real problem with micro plasma and respiratory diseases. I was also talking to a fairly high ranking police officer who shoots with us and he knew this lockdown was coming days before we did , he was telling me that as far as he knows the lockdown “will” end on December 2nd and thereafter a tier system . Loo
  8. There’s one species that’s non native in this country that needs a proper cull ...., and it’s arriving in dinghies down in Kent ?
  9. I went to the supermarket yesterday and the woman on the till , whispered to me to look at the people behind me , a pile of pasta , meat , rice , bog roll and beer and wine . She said , “ they are panic buying , there are signs everywhere about it , we aren’t shutting , I’m getting the manager” , the manager came over and they had to put a load of there stuff back . I loved it .
  10. The talk is that we come out of lockdown 2nd December , see how it goes with the “R” for two weeks, then possibly another lockdown and so on . But that is just guessing, who knows ? I’ve got a feeling every shoot will be squeezing as many days in to whatever time we have . One thing is for sure , we can’t afford to feed all these pheasants until next year , worst case scenario is im out rifling them and taking them to the game dealer. I’m actually being paid for them at the moment, it started off at £1.60 a brace then £1 a brace and now 60p a brace , which he told me I would get throughout the
  11. Just read it ???. What a load of piss and wind . There are a few sights around the coast and inland wetlands . But even so , all any affected shooting concerns would have to do is move their release pen . They are making out it’s some sort of big victory . I say let them have their pathetic moment, we will carry on .??
  12. I don’t think they have been told . Just waiting for a decision, but I can’t see how it can with the restrictions that the government is laying down .
  13. Well , it looks like we are getting locked down . I spoke to the boss today and the next three shoots will be cancelled, it looks like we can reschedule them in later as long as the lockdowns not extended . But speaking to a keeper who runs a commercial shoot , they will be losing £100.000 in lost revenue . Then there is another shoot near me who will be losing double that figure . Some of the Welsh shoots are in even worse condition. It was a gamble shooting in these uncertain times . Hopefully they can sell more days December and January .
  14. I think it’s basically , you need a license to release birds 500 meters from Special conservation areas SACs and special protection areas SPAs , I’ve had a look on the gov map and most of these areas are coastal . I’m not sure but I don’t think many shoots are going to be affected. I might be wrong but it’s just a “ mini victory “ for wild justice to harp on about , that doesn’t really do anything.
  15. There is no chance for us to do that , it’s pretty much set in stone , we are shooting nearly every Saturday. It will sure make it interesting ?
  16. I enjoy those programs . I know what you mean about the respect he has for what he does . Am I the only one who gets a bit fed up with justifying our sport to the non hunting audience? Try Tim Wellsbow Bow Hunter “ Relentless pursuit “ . Amazing footage , he kills bears with bows and arrows, spears and believe it or not a blow pipe !!! And he is totally unapologetic, “ this is what I do , don’t like it ? Don’t watch it “ . I find his attitude refreshing.
  17. Shooting tomorrow, it’s going to be wet . I was beating on Wednesday on a mates shoot and got soaked. Thunder , lightning and big hail stones . I was questioning my sanity , why am I doing this for £30 ? I know tomorrow that the team will be there in the rain with me , helping to make it happen, and with a smile on their faces . They don’t do it for the money ( well a couple of them do ) and enjoy the day out with their dogs come rain or shine . If you are beating tomorrow, my hats off to you . The unsung heroes of driven shooting.
  18. I only tried that stuff once....... I didn’t inhale ?
  19. My name is John and I’ve got two .223 rifles ,but I am thinking of getting rid of the CZ and getting a Tac 20 , so I’m weening myself off them . Just taking it one day at a time , baby steps as they say . One .223 is too many , a thousand is never enough .?
  20. Sweetbreads are the sheep’s thymus gland , found in the neck . just googled it myself and it says it’s also the pancreas of beef and pork. But the ones I’ve had and like are the sheep neck ones .
