  1. Hey up lads, I was thinking about a conversation i had with a very descent old welsh farmer a while back while I was doing some work. His farm is high up in north wales, during this chat he asked what dogs id got and i told him, and he really seemed eager to talk hunting and about the good times he and his pals had in the past on the hills and mountains near by,he told me he used to always have a few terriers about but that he didnt have em anymore and that he prefers a bit of shooting rather than terrier work nowadays. When i asked what types he used he said russell xs mainly i was thinking x
  2. I feel for ya pal. I hope things get better for you asap. Atb
  3. As bossie said that beagle x russell threads got some really good stuff on it,.think id prefer a spaniel x just cus theyd be more trainable.
  4. If youre thumbs meet as a rule she should be able to get...only one way to know for sure is to enter her. But id say as with most bullx youll be in for some long digs if shes big in the chest. Good luck pal
  5. To me working dogs should be kenneled be they terriers hounds or gundogs. It just makes em more durable
  6. Gameness is not heart, gameness is the willingness to go in and mix. Heart is sticking at it until the end of the job
  7. Jesus coonboy thats bad, i can see why youre gutted pal. I hope you have better luck in the new year. All the best
  8. Try an obsession the nick stevens story, some aint much for him but i enjoyed it.
  9. Put em on a coupling, they cant get as good of a run out like this but its better than losing a dog.
  10. To me I do subscribe to the no bad dogs just bad owners thing, but in all honesty these fools dont use collie x do they. There is somthing about the bullx be it lurcher or terrier that fires there tiny brains. Its a regular thing that il be in a boozer and a friend of some friends prick mate will come over when they hear us talking dogs/hunting try to show me a video on his mobile of about three bull types tearing up a fox or badger. And then il end up telling em it doesnt impress and to leave my company rapidly!
  11. I read a post on here a while ago cant remember who wrote it, but it has made me think. It was along the lines of we (working terrier/lurcher folk) have accepted bullx capture dog lads into our ranks and its done more harm to the image of field sports than the anti hunt propoganda ever has. Whats youre views, all I know is that every time theres sommat splashed over the paper involving pitt bulls a badger and footage on the accuseds mobile phone, il get a load of negative shitty comments off non hunting mates. Discuss.....
  12. Too much bull on this forum. Too big...and take too much punishment in general. No good.
  13. If i could give a piece of advice it would be to buy a pup off one of youre mates if possible if there dogs are that good. Or at least sommat youre mates know of thats been dug to regular. Theres a plenty of folk who will tell you a load of bullshit who are selling pups out of dog that have never done owt. Atb
  14. As durham digger said they should be called Fell terriers whether smooth or rough, theyre all just types. But the smooth are almost always called patterdales when advertised for sale because its a more widely known name.
  15. I read his fell terrier book for the first time recently and enjoyed it. And whether entirely factual or not it was decent, to me making a few quid out of somthing you enjoy is no crime. And the way some on here talk about ratting as though its beneath them is laughable.
  16. Good on ya pal glad to hear you got youre dog out. Its good to know lads who will lend a hand if youre in the sh*t. Atb
