Used to make a few bows of osage orange when i lived back east hickory to and i brought quite a few staves with me when i moved west but i haven't finished any for a while ,made a few recurved bows one of mullberry with a sinew back prolly 35 lbs though mullberry not that great for sinew backing used wild rose shoots that i cut in the winter and hand straightened over the stove for shafts as well as dog wood and some shafts i split outta clear douglas fir lumber and planed by hand ,and so much more i could prolly write a book about all the stuff iv'e done in making traditional archery gear ,th

  6. I like Hawthorne as well for the graIN AND SOME BARKS HAVE A VERY NICE COLOR AND GRAIN TO THEM ALSO HAVE STARTED SOME KNOB STICKS[sorry for caps ] of it too is a very sturdy wood imo .

  11. Look's good all the way around two for the pot an a dandy catty on top of it ,ol Toddy hit on a good design with that one imo for sure.
  12. Yeah the design is right on ,good grain in the wood etc but it does look a bit long in the fork ,which causes excess tork yah can avoid by cutting em down closer to your fingers ,but hey shoot it an see first might work fine for yah .

  14. Looks the dogs ,to me for the wide forked one you could ssteam it well an draw the forks together if need be leave for a few hours after you draw them up after the steam so they can well cool ,then they should retain the shape yer lookin for .

Most of the Chinese tubes i'l max out{ kinda like you can feel the lastic is streatched to the limit }er well actually i max out my squares as well ,tubes an squares are generally gonna last longest bands like the thera band etc are generally faster but quite a bit shorter life befor breaking ,it's kind hard to suggest a lastic set for yah like we don't know if yah can pull heavy set ups er in between or even if you would want to ?i'd step out on a limb an say mebe 1745 tubes doubled or mebe even single or 1842 doubled both are common set ups an still has good band life but a bit slower than t
