I was talking about strains, not a pack of one off crosses. It takes years to build a strain from a family of dogs, but when you do you can more or less rely on how it will turn out because its a fixed type. Dont want to get too scientific but basically a dogs ability to catch rabbits (or anything else) well even into longevity does not guarantee in any way it producing good offspring. I would rather breed from a well inbred bitch from a tested line in her first season than gamble on a random cross that had worked well for how ever many seasons. If you breed a strain it takes years and you suff

Theres nothing worse than having to listen to people who think they sound funny, when as you say it could of been a really good thread.

It depends if the bitch comes from an inbred line that breeds true, then she has a strong proven family behind her, then I would say breed while she is young and supple. The longer you leave her the higher the chances of trouble. In any case if the bitch isnt a goodun you should know by the time shes 3. Whats behind the parents is just if not more important than there own ability. A dog could be a one off champ but have mediocre ancestors that will show up in the whelps.

how to humiliate mans best friend
-
I wish these weak minded addicts would stay away from the computer with there befuddled brains spouting what they think sounds clever. A real dog mans drug is dogs. Ive seen these types drained of energy when they aint blocked up with shit in there veins...dogs left in kennel walking about in there own crap.

I think ours are the best, but then I would. I never advertise pups, and rarely even sell or give away any anymore so they are unlikely ever to be promoted or talked about. I breed plenty to improve the line but not to impress others.

Why do you want the bitch speyed?

Ive modelled my life off Ratty from wind in the willows, but instead of messing about on the river I just mess about with dogs, and no I havnt been arrested for it yet..

And some alaunts are as racy or racier than bull crosses. So where does one stop and one begin?, they're all bull types at the end of the day and the size, weight and shape of the dog will have more bearing on its capabilities than how it is actually bred. If you really believe what you have just said you really need to think again mate. Not point scoring or trying to make you look silly but the truth is exactly the opposite of what you said. A good conformation without a working heart and brain is a useless tool indeed. You can give it what bullshit name you like but unless its got a go

If I wanted a stud I would choose the redwall dog over sleights..
-
Another sack of bullshit from plummer. Crossing a Bull to a greyhound will only ruin a good greyhound unless its the right strain of bullterrier. That is hard enough without adding breeds that are shadows from history that can only add a different look but definatley no substance.

what the balance thing?

Just been looking these HID lamps up and there is enforcer 170 50w or striker 170 both HID but enforcer is dearer than striker but cant see why, unless the striker has a smaller bulb.
-
you might aswell not have a lamp with u if u put a filter on one lolI been out with one, there good for medium fields and that but they get lost in bigger fields. Field I lamped were 40 odd acre and it sucked it. Where as my HID picked up two deer in hedge other side of said field. yes mate thats i meant,Ive been out with the old cluson and really youd be aswell with a candle. I,ll have a look at these HID thanks

I thought these cordless only reach 500m? can you fit a filter, and do they shine as far as a blazerlite with 100w bulb? I need to have a good distance on a lamp.

news paper, straw, cheap and warm. Tramps and farmers recommended.

we do.

Spot on mate, you have to breed in and cull hard if you want to breed a strain. As long as you breed healthy vigorous stuff to each other its the quickest and surest way to get results,if what you start with has good stuff behind it.You are not just breeding the two dogs but the genes contained in them.

For Sale Bull X Lurcher Bitch
jeemes replied to rabbitman1234567's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Well thats how you feel thats fine but if the rest of the world felt like that there wouldnt be any stock to buy.Its probably better you dont breed really if youre a bit softed hearted mate. Not being funny or knocking you but to breed good stock you have to be able to harden your heart. If people in history hadnt been like that you simply wouldnt have the breeds that go into making the lurchers you have in your kennel now.. -
You have as much chance of a good little rabbiting dog as any other small rough coated lurcher of unknown pedigree, but just dont buy into the bullshit...believe me it is bullshit.

You say breed for yourself but what you mean is you want strangers to take good care of the pups in the litter that you DONT want and never sell or swap them. -
If they were a strain they would breed true, but instead they come all diffrent shapes and sizes...so the way round that is to give the diffrent types labels, hence Tumbler..Norfolk..simple really. Picardy, husky, mongrels wandering the street, they are all in there..

dont fill it so its stomach bulges. 3meals a day.
