  1. Furminators are very good. You should be able to change the blade in them, but Ive never managed to find anywhere that sells them. They just want to sell you a new one.
  2. Thats a useful looking bitch.Sounds like a promising litter if it comes off. Dont blame you not keeping too many though. Are they collie based?
  3. clulite LA 10 100W British made. 2zillion billion candle power much better than Deben and flip up filter. I know the light is much better than a 170 for instance because ive had them next to each other. Get them direct from clulite.
  4. He looks a cracking pup. Most pups loose a bit of weight in new home...good luck
  5. If a bitch is pure dominant for all the right genes she will automatically correct corresponding faults in the males put to her. if that theory was correct why male carried heamophilia gene is not corrected by a female? Ok going down the line of embryo engineering you may be able to remove certain defects. But by rule of thumb , no guarantees of rectifying specific defects in a litter. My question would be if you know a line or a dog or a bitch with specific defects or genetic imbalance why would you breed from it ? I was talking about traits rather than diseases, and sex related gen

  7. I dont think thats quite right. The collar is designed to take pressure off the throat when exercising greyhounds. A fast dog is more likely to sustain damage by wearing any collar than not wearing one at all. The only protection a collar can afford a working dog is against the teeth of quarry. I agree with you about leather, and looks though. Looked into it some and it would seem you right! Makes sense I suppose. I thought it worked a bit like a hunting stock for humans. Atb and cheers for the knowledge! No problem,Im glad you took it how it was meant.
  8. If they develope flat feet it WILL bother them. Not all feet are absolutely flat and do have some arch, but dont start off in dogs burying your head in sand about feet. Its an animal bred to run and everything starts from the feet. The first contact with the earth they are using to propel them along. Take away the feet and what have you got? a cripple that cannot even stand up! So feet are important. Performance can only be affected badly by bad feet.It really is simple. Look at a diagram of a foot. See how its made and how evolution helped by clever breeding has produced a brilliant tool. Once
  9. Its not a matter of looks. Flat feet are bad. They are not designed to be flat. A dog with flat feet is already injured.
  10. You should have asked his dog really because its him who will be suffering the pain and discomfort. Why do you think they dont want you in the army with flat feet? If a man can get out of going to war because of them it must be serious. To be fair you can get binned from selection for athletes foot..... talk about splitting hairs
  11. Some greys have terrible feet mate. Ive only seen hare feet on collies but not flat.

  13. You are more likely to see flat feet in bull blooded dogs. A lot of salukis Ive noticed have what they call Hare feet which are a different shape but still good feet and not to be confused with flat feet which are a very bad thing in running dogs. If your pup has very flat feet please dont think you can cure it with road work because you wont. Its a genetic fault that has been ignored and bred in instead of out.

  15. codliver oil. not too much.tea spoon every other day =glossy coat
  16. Good quality leather, and get it nice and supple with neats foot oil. Biothane is a good second and should last longer than leather. I make my own leads collars..
  17. Everyone to there own but I have yet to find a better lamp for me than the Clulite LA10 Blazerlite with the 100w bulb, and gate lamp. We couldnt lamp without a filter and we need good distance. I soon got rid of my 170 when I found these. They are all british made and wired a lot better than deben. Im not saying they are perfect because they are not but you can send a dog out to quarry that thinks its safe because it shines a long way,and the led batteries weigh nothing and last well. I suppose a lot depends on where you live and the country you lamp. The la10 is not to be confused with the sm
  18. I get your drift fella ,i don't,won't,never have nor never will wrap my dogs up in cotton wool,if i thought of everything that may go wrong by doing certain things id end up keeping handbag dogs & not working dogs lol,one of the best dogs I've ever seen grafting broke its leg jumping a gate & was pts but I've seen twenty fold of that being killed whilst working so where do you stop? Don't have them jumping or don't work them at all? From 8 weeks old mine never get a helping hand off me,they either go under, around or over..in certain areas of the country there is little requirement to h
  19. Thats a lovely looking pup. If he was mine I would be covering my eyes as he jumped those fences at his age though..You can see on the pictures that he still has a lot of bone around his wrist to grow out. In fact those growth plates wont be set until hes around fifteen months. Ive nothing against pups learning to jump but if he was my dog I wouldnt want him to jump more than a foot or so. After all its only the action they need to learn at first.
  20. we are all influenced by colour to some degree wether we like it or not.
  21. When you sell something its no longer yours. All this giving money back in twelve months, what a load of shite. If your that worried about the dog, well then dont sell it. All I would ask someone is if you dont want it please give me first refusal if you want to get rid otherwise you can put it on the barbecue if your hard up. Nobody wishes to put a dog in a bad home but its the risk you take when you sell a dog.If you cant live with that then dont breed. I suspect though that some people like to sound off on here like they are doctor dolittle and it looks good in print, but thats about it. Its m
  22. The money shouldnt be the biggest thing when looking for a pup, though I dont see why people should rear surplus pups to give them to strangers for nothing. The last few litters I have bred I have killed the surplus, but if I was selling I think 200 would be about right to cover the time/cost etc. I do think that when money starts getting too high then the money becomes the focal point of the breeding. After all this is sport not an industry. .Money is the ruination of all sport imo For what Ive spent on dogs kennels and everything else I would be much better in pocketr if I just bought pups in
  23. I hope you find a good home. I wouldnt bother putting her on here though, for some reason this site allows advertisers to be abused by small minded people who think they have a right to judge others. The dog is your stock and you have the right to dispose of it by selling or giving it away if you no longer want to keep it. Unfortunately the site will take your donation but mods will do nothing to uphold your right to advertise unmolested.
