  1. The tallness comes from the Greyhound and so does a lot of the weight. Pitbulls vary a lot in size and shape (but not to that extent) and also in attitude how they go about work. Some are laid back quite boys and others are hyperactive buzz saws. To my way of thinking anything more greyhound than 5/8 s and 26 at shoulder is too much grey. A bull lurcher should want to do more than hold imo. The only way to breed them is in and line breeding to retain the desired traits others have worked hard to create. I think they are already becoming rare which ironically is due to there over popularity a f
  2. They dont ALL but a lot do. We would never even keep a pup once his feet started to go flat never mind breed from it. If you make it a rule to weed out flat feet without exception from your strain you can eradicate the problem. Its the worst physical problem a dog can have imo.
  3. If running is on the agenda, with any real purpose, then the infusion of Bull is a wasted exercise, unless its diluted to an extent that makes the Bull a lesser ingredient to the recipe. The real purpose of running with a catch dog is for it to have enough speed and agility to gain on and overcome its quarry. The Bull possesses everything to do with catching, including bite, tolerance to pain, and sheer desire to secure and maintain a hold far longer in the worst of conditions than any other breed. In short, Bulls answer most questions with there teeth, where a Greyhound does the same with its
  4. I have to disagree with you mate! In my opinion it is the only voice terriermen have and Dave Harcombe is an ambassador for our cause! The articles are written by the many contributors, ordinary terriermen and lurchermen, anyone who thinks they could do a better job contact EDRD! I can see a column every week by "JEEMES " has a certain ring about it! My first article might be about the time I phoned mr Harcombe up and told him some idiot on youtube was slagging off his book "Badger digging with terriers" and without actually reading it this person was accusing terriermen of baiting badgers
  5. edrd has done nothing for terrier work, but put a lot of pictures of disfigured dogs out to the public and internet. Its mainly used to publicise D.Harcombes books.
  6. I talked to a bloke with whippet cross English bull terriers, very whippet in build with bull terrier like head.Real good on pigs,They looked more than capable for fox,but he didn't allow them to hunt anything but pigs. Thanks mate, would love to see a picture.
  7. Most common drawback to a bullcross is flat feet. Unfortunately people still breed from dogs with flat feet, and so it goes on.
  8. anyone seen a English cross whippet
  9. Think it needs to be at least 4 inches or 100mm deep.
  10. What about when you put two good workers together and nothing good comes out. Where does that leave you. Do you get rid of parents and start again...or do you admit that its a bit more complex than you had hoped and come to realise that the best thing would be to learn the basics of heredity and how genes work and how inbreeding can help to secure the traits you want.
  11. Spot on with that mate,a good dog man is always watching his dogs and feeds everyday accordingly.
  12. Moochers is where you go when you have lost the will to live..
  13. theyre still racing whippets in Tamworth I think.
  14. I see your point, but only you can make the right choice. All I would say is dont let the tail wag the dog, take control.

  18. Ive got a 12volt 12amp off the pigeon site, its not very heavy.
  19. I went pigeon shooting a few years ago in Oxfordshire with a guide, but it was a bit of a rip off to be honest.
  20. It doesnt matter whats on the land, what matters is if pigeons are interested in it. I see you didnt take my advice regarding a book. Thats the trouble with decoying when lads think they can just start and work it out. You cant just put decoys out and bring birds in. If you get it right you will have a white knuckle shooting experience. You can get through a box of 250 shells before midday and they will come thick and fast. 400 acres is nothing if it doesnt hold them unfortunately. Ive got farms that are a waste of time and one or two that pigeon like when the foods there and they fancy it. Yo
  21. no mate you have to wait until they are feeding. buy a book on decoying pigeons and learn about it.
  22. Before no1 moves on does he sell the dog with weaknesses by lying about its abilities and so become a no2 for a while (a shit)? or does he do the honest thing and kill it because he believes the dog is not good enough to make a worker? Which no1 were you Juba? 1a or 1b or were you a bit of both?....yes thats right...A....1....2....B... which is technically partly a number 3.
  23. seen this dog up for stud and then up for sale.500quid
