  1. If everybody inbred from quality dogs then there would be a lot better dogs about that could also produce due to being purer for the right traits. All pure breeds have been in and in bred in their history, otherwise they wouldnt breed true to type. The only dogs you truly know are the ones youve bred yourself, and when you have like yourself a family of dogs or a true stud, you are the envy of a lot of men. There are always dreamers who believe they are getting dogs off someone else's 30, 40 or 50 year old blood line, but theyre just self kidders. Good luck with the pup.
  2. My first lurcher was a wild one and showed feral traits for stealing food of any kind and later attacking sheep and almost any livestock but only if you wernt looking or near to him. The only things he couldnt catch were rabbits? but if I were living wild I think Id go for mutton, its easier to catch and a lot more meat. He would always escape if he could and go off for days at a time. Never came back thin but he always did come back until one time he didnt, and that was that, and uphill ever since.
  3. Nice big strong pup. Are his feet ok?
  4. You are showing your vast ignorance again!
  5. Two different dogs for different jobs. A lot of Bullx dogs have very bad flat feet, mostly but not all from Bull genes. Thats down to poor breeding. That is a factor that takes long distance running out of a dog. Most Saluki crosses have excellent feet of the catlike from the Greyhound or the Hare type foot. Thats one thing, but also a Saluki is bred for the long run and nobody would dispute that. A Bull x lurcher (one that has a lot of bull influence) of good breeding has very good stamina if conditioned and fed right, but does give away energy a lot quicker until it comes to grips with its q
  6. Whatever you get dont get an Alaunt?
  7. Traps I was thinking. Ive got fenn traps and tunnels or a couple of the type you hang on the tree with a cage round it which you bait.
  8. What can you charge for controlling Squirrels anybody? Ive been asked to take some on for a job.
  9. I think they dont get eaten because they give the eater sore guts, thats why you find their body's lying about.
  10. Thats the bloke on Mountain men? Not to be confused with mounting men which is on a different channel.
  11. Ive got this CS Osborne one for belts, its a size 4 ?
  12. Wait until winter and just cut it back hard, top and sides. Whatever the hedge it will obviously look a bit stark at first but will soon leaf up. It happen to all hedges and shrubs, it just creeps up on you. Remember to do it before the end of February. Forgot to say make sure you cut evenly off sides to keep it balanced. Stand well back to see your progress.
  13. Regular trimming does no harm because you are only removing outer very new growth. It encourages thicker and better cover in shrubbery and hedges, but apart from that the gardeners job is to tend the shrubs etc first, but as I say its cutting thats bad for them not trimming.
  14. Thanks mate, no not cheap but best quality. I got mine from Abbey but I'll have a look tomorrow and get back.
  15. Been in this business many years. The majority of men whether big small or young cannot keep garden work up at a pace, 5 days a week for more than a few weeks, most in fact are days or hours. Hedge cutting with a petrol hedge cutter is one of the hardest tasks, and only the strongest can do it days on end at a good pace that will earn money. Unfortunately the electric trimmers dont last long enough before a recharge and the long reach too heavy at the cutting end, so its still petrol for most contractors.
  16. Lavender is great for bees, and also Honeysuckle and roses. Theres a Rambler called Kiftsgate and it will ramble up through trees and make the tree look like its got flowers on. They are good on fruit trees because they flower after the blossom has gone. Mock orange or Philadelphus is good and Buddleia but prune straight after flowering if its needed because next years flowers will grow on this years growth.
  17. I think definitely Whippet strong in the blood, preferably with some terrier blood. The few rabbit specialists Ive seen, like elastic and nailing rabbits quick one after the other have been this blood or bred down Grew and Collie, but whippet in every one.
  18. I must be smoking the wrong stuff.
  19. Made myself a new belt on my old buckle. Greasy Oak stirrup leather.
