  1. All dogs become a lot better when they are dead.
  2. I dont know what it was called. It was made of wood, and poorly finished with varnish drips on it, which I dont like so I gave it away. I wouldnt buy another off him obviously.
  3. Yes mate, no problem. Txt me if you still got number or I'll send it again.
  4. I had a Catty off this bloke. Had to wait a bit but I got it ok plus some advice on phone. Ive just been watching him on FB... Chrst!!! can he shoot with that Catapult.
  5. 3/4" terrier collar and chain lead. Full grain best leather nearly 5mm thick.
  6. There are some good class ex racing whip/Greyounds at Stud up north if anyone wants to breed a litter for themselves. I know nothing of the old Bowline dogs myself, but you cannot resurrect a line even if there was a line in the first place. Most dog dealers like Hancock for instance only ever create a cross. They dont test and so can never improve, even if they wanted to.
  7. Sentiment and breeding dont go together.
  8. Exactly just sell, gift or put down, they are the surplus. In an ideal world you might keep the lot like Greyhound breeders do until you can see more of them as saplings, but failing that the ordinary bloke just breeds to improve on the parents and makes his choice. The ones that go elsewhere are out of his hands and gone.
  9. I think you should concern yourself more about the ones you keep, because they are your selection. The stuff that goes out the door is that which you didnt think worth keeping. If you have to question prospective buyers then you dont know them, and will probably be lied to anyway.
  10. Keep a sharp mind! or at least sharper than it would be. Save loads of £££ and spend it on guns and dogs?
  11. Twinings breakfast tea.
  12. I think you are thinking of Douglas Todd, an old kc Whippet man who didnt approve of Whippets coursing Hares. Ted Walsh was one of the founder members of the Whippet coursing club.
  13. Ive seen KC Whippets coursing under rules and although a few slips are no goers with the Hare just beating them there was some fantastic coursing. It was manly in the Cotswolds with high stone walls in places, but that didnt stop the Hare or the Whippets, which were sometimes no bigger than the Hare. The Stamina of these Whippets was very good aswell. I imagine the Whip/Greys to be lethal on Hares!
  14. couldnt agree more. Worry about quality first and cost next. Always seems to be enough money for guns, fashionable hunting boots and beer etc but want a lurcher for next to nothing.
  15. Just the job. Thanks for your help.
  16. Thanks Dervburner any tips on type of hopper to make?
  17. Do bait stations for shooting squirrels work during summer months or just in autumn winter? thanks for any advice.
  18. Pard 007 has come down to £329
  19. Whatever you do mate, make sure that puppy gets plenty of free exercise from 12 weeks old to at least 9months so it learns to use itself, otherwise you will never catch that up.
  20. How dare saunders come into Churchills fighting speach and then quit like a cur. Pathetic to hear Froch defending a cur when he knows full well that he would not have stayed on his stool in that situation. I hope that puts saunders out of boxing because god knows what it would be like if all the top level who had the belts fought with that style, running and posturing. Boxing would take a nose dive. I love to see Britain winning belts, but not at any price. Good result...another gobshite bites the dust.
  21. He'll need every inch of that ring...Make you want to hold your head down being British with gobshites like that representing us. DONT KNOCK HIM OUT TOO SOON CANELO.....
  22. Anybody use this bloke for books? Ive bought off him for years. Some very good books of all kinds on the countryside and sport in general. There are the usual suspects, Plummer, Frain, Darcy and co but also a lot of other writers and antique books.
  23. A few about in the Midlands. Nice to see good numbers, but then sometimes they just go come the autumn. I dont think its shooters though, I just think in places where there are woods they tend to be out of sight more in winter. When I used to go Beagling the last thing you want is a heavy population where the young hounds tend to keep changing Hares. Fresh Hare isnt good for Beagles, especially the ones that smoke. I do envy you Saluki lads though when I see a good Hare, you cant beat a good course, and a kill if the dog as deserved it. I used to like watching those Lucky the dark destroy
