    I control geese throughout the year but more so now when they're breeding. This is done because of the threat to public health and other wildlife that the geese present. Also damage to crops on farms that I have permission on. I prick eggs as a first deterrent and will remove birds if they are aggressive or persistent. As far as shooting goes, I use shotgun, centrefire or rimfire. Discretion and safety is needed in public places so get in early to do any control.

    Really sorry to see the mighty Sunderland have been relegated. I'm thinking of those fans that cheered and sang to the Utd fans when they lost the league up there a few years ago. Gutted for you ?

    I've always said they're good places to find rats. I have fixed visiting my local burger house. Those vans parked up in lay-bys too, check behind them, there's always signs of rats ?

    Looking forward to looking for them again this year. The local one is due back on 26th but I travel to watch them. More remarkable is the fact that their young fly all the way to west Africa when they're only weeks old having never met their parents!

    You can always lay a piece of thin timber, cut to size, on the base inside to screw to. Something that the rats have been passing over maybe?? Easy to remove trap and base as well
