  1. Good to see them backout again
  2. It could be a number of things the list is endless I can assure you, I deal with skin problems daily in many dogs. People can be posting and guessing with will lead to a long thread, especially if you give little imformation. The skin is the largest organ of the body and this can make it quite hard to pin point the problem unless you have info. Also forget the shampoos, you are alwasy better in my experience to work from the inside opposed to the outside with the use of topical treatments unless for certain types of problem. But the best step to start with are: Feed a plain diet an

  4. Nah, more like when you remember 'Traps' Or even 'The trap collector' which was then abbreviated to Traps Can anyone remember the old Earth dog running dog forum....I think that was my first forum First forum I joined too Moll Nice one 'Butch' All the best 'Sam'
  5. They are superb IMO, and you wont want to go back to a drycell after using one Giro. I have a 14 and its plenty. The biggest downside is that you have to rewire to get rid of those shite cigar connectors. I wish I could find a connector which I could plug direct into the battery from the lamp, rather than crimping as it will always be a weakness.
  6. schools are back now shouldnt you be there Think we have a few weeks till there back by the looks of it
  7. Ferretking..."nice pics mate" at least 20 times a day
  8. I am no fan of dogs too small either, a medium sized agile dog is fine. Too small and they lack height to see down the beam and too big and you can loose agility. Just my tuppence worth.
  9. If big dogs were such good rabbit dogswhy are not more people not use them for rabbiting? Because from what I have seen most serious rabbit catchers keep average size dogs? 22-25 not 27" plus deerhound x. I wonder why that is?
  10. Bring back wolfhounder and legion........ or maybe not
  11. Personally on the small fields, hills and rough I work i would always prefer a dog between 22-24" TTS. I have no doubt that the bigger dogs with the drive/desire can be great, but I have seen them struggle on small quarry, over shooting and quite simply physically too big for the job in hand. I have owned 27" a dog which worked very hard for me for 6 seasons but I came to the conclusion that he was not suited to the game, although a dog with more drive, speed and a serpent like strike I have yet to see. I have ran a pure deerhound on rabbits, and it was quite amusing but not ideal. A big dog
  12. I like a lurcher to retrieve from water, and if nothing else its gets them fit Not sure they are BREAD to do it or BRED to do it  either way its handy
  13. It's a bit hard to give you advice, as your post isnt clear? If you are just talking about a split of damaged nail, just trim off the split shards (without cutting the quick) file it down and put a few layers of 'Hard as nails' or similar varnish on it, and it will give it some protection while it grows back. But in you post you are talking about money etc? Is it a vet job ie: hanging off? Or do you mean a dew claw?
  14. Shes about to take that line, singing like a hound
  15. Lurchers & Long dogs by Walsh, Phil Lloyds are excellent http://www.chalkwarren.co.uk/ so are most of Darcys if you can get them. http://www.darcybooks.com/ Penny Taylors new one 'Tales from the field' is a good read also, plenty of hunting stories on varied quarry. http://www.skycatpublications.com/ Take Plummers books with a large pinch of salt, but his fiction is best, Lepus, Nathan etc (many will say its all fiction )
  16. To put weight on a dog it will be trial and error to find what the dog does best on, personally i would stick with a raw diet/natural diet as you do have the benefit of being able to tailor the food to suit the dog. Chicken/tripe mince as a base and add some veg, chicken wings and offal. You can also add something like Slippery Elm Powder/Tree Barks powder it will help slow the passage of food and increase absorption of food. The most important thing is to feed in several (2-3) small meals per day, as this way the dog will make better use of its food. Good luck Sirius
  17. The best stuff IMO is Thornit, its fantastic for ear problems in dogs and ferrets. I have used it for years. here is a link to amazon but you can get it at many other places http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=thornit+ear+powder&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=7125827166&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1031945216397052635&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_8rhh50g2n9_b
  18. Just heard back and it seems they will interchange.
  19. Yep thats what I thought... I believed a european mink could breed with a ferret, but if a american mink did (a very slim chance) the produce if nay would be infertile. Everydays a school day.
