When you say spun/nylon are better for not picking crap up, do you mean square mesh or diamond? Does anyone know if square meshes pick up any less crap, regardless of what they`re made of?
Mine are a diamond, never really used a square mesh so can't say.
4z will ball a rabbit up like nothing else, and a 6Z will be nearly as good as this but will pick up less brash as others have mentioned, the most important thing from my experience is that is has at least 100% bagging, And don't set you nets too high if using the fixed pole method
I must say the best killing nets which don't pick up too much brash and still ball up rabbits are handmade spun nylon/poly.
It's passed winter solstice, it gos down hill fast down south from here on in. Sticky rabbits and nests will be the norm till I pack in end of jan/feb.
That's superb, and without a doubt very effective and humane when done correctly
I took this pic at Chambord a few years ago, we saw lots of spears there and even better lots of hounds
Bon Chasse!
Kevin, I doubt there is anything special about this so called breed. The fact is you see this over and over again with people trying to recreate the wheel and in most if not all cases it's more about the person making a name/breed for themselves rather than making a better dog. In fact I am sure that is what this so called breed is.
As for bedlington adding better feet lol pull yourself together lol
I can see why your attracted to the idea of this pseudo breed of collie but I doubt that is can add anything extra that a good working hill collie does not already posses.
Seen quite a few of the dogs on here in the flesh. Many I would like to see.
One of mt favourite breeds for novelty factor is the Norwegian Lunderhund or puffin hunting dog. It has a double jointed neck and can almost have its skull touching its back. Like I say no real use but very novel lol
Fellah this is not some special breed it is a bleeding farm collie lol just someone has tried to put a name to this type (which always is suspect)
There are hundreds of localised variants of a working collie in the uk.
Good hunting Sirius
Yes they will; but if you thought you were buying a Deer/Grey that would be the size you were after, only to find out you'd got a Collie x, you might just feel a litle aggrieved !
Cheers.
Buyer beware is the adage when I comes to lurchers.
I would love to find a decent line or breeding of nothing but dh gh and a decent percent of collie that were doing the biz for a few generations and were producing average size dogs say of 25" or under I would be sorely tempted.
I have just strung up a new 50yd longnet last few nights as my old hound is in sick bay, I opted for the grommet method, not cos its better or worse twas just I found some in the back of ye olde shed
I agree call for the dog, meet him take dog back. Also get this thread deleted as the high volume of messers on here I would be surprised if he's one of them
Yes mate ,, I have 200 yard of 10z in 2. 1/8 I'm cutting for purse nets , been making them 4 foot long, braided on to rings
Using 10Z makes probably the best sort of purse net you can get from sheet netting, hard wearing nets.
100yards of netting will make a 50yrd net with100% bagging/kill. I use 5yrds between the poles, some people use 6-7yrds, personally I would opt for 5yds as its stronger when rabbits are in one section of the net.
