  5. Great boots are superlites for summer/autumn walking the dogs, fisjhing, shooting and mooching, like a pair of slippers to wear, but for serious stick like digging, and trudging miles in deep mud and shite etc maybe look at something else.
  6. I had one jill out that day at a 3ft mark for around 30mins and then she moved and 4 bolted, all caught She looked like she had been dunked in a bucket of dirty water poor critter. All the ferrets did bloody well
  7. It's pretty well the first time I have come across it this year as other places I do are high up. Now we are doing the lower places and hedges you really realise how wet it is below terra firma. I wonder if it will affect the breeding? Only one or two of the does were was in the family way yesterday.
  8. Today's outing was to a hedge where the nettles had died back enough now for us to get at it. Itwas maybe 200 yards of very thin hedge, hardly a hedge at all by local standards, not that we were complaining. A fair few rabbits were obviously present, with several diving to ground when we arrived which were followed by positive marks from the dogs. All in all the rabbits played ball, bolting nice and clean into nets or to the dogs, but we were amazed at how wet the warrens were, some holes were literally full to the brim with water!! We only had one dig today at 4ft and when I broke through to

Those rabbits are proper fecked terryd..
  12. Always good sport, its easy enough on open sets but in woodland the rabbits have a distinct advantage, your dogs did well Nice job

    Long Nets

A 4z nylon machine made net with 100% bagging, wraps up rabbits very well indeed. I have used one on clean sets for a few seasons and its killer ;-) just set about a foot to a foot and a half tall is ideal. I also use handmade nets and again they are superb tanglers of rabbits, it's all down to the bagging and setting.
  14. That little trammel was made by Netrigger, its a handy little net. Regards Sirius
  15. Feed him small bits and put a brick or heavy ball in the bowl, so he has to eat round it, it slows them down, terriers are terrrible for bolting there grub from experience.
  16. The skin can be effected by many things as its the largest organ of the body and comes into contact with many things. The best place to start if the dog is clear for the obvious such as Sarcoptic Mange (fox mange commonly seen around the face and muzzle) would be to knock out any cereals and give it a good 3 weeks to see if that helps, its an easy step and a good starting point. Good luck Sirius
  17. I am no fan of complete and meat personally, for several reasons the most important being digestive rates and the possibility of risking bloat (gastric torsion) in dogs. But dogs will commonly cope with it but feeding at separate meal times is advisable,I have done this when feeding a wholemeal baked biscuit as a morning meal with an egg or yoghurt and then feeding the main meat/bone and veg meal in the evening. A raw diet of bones, meat, fat and veg is sufficient when done correctly (its really not hard) and you can adjust this to suit the dog, but each dog is different and if feeding a mix
  18. Its all speculation on the rabbit hole One things for sure if you have some purse nets, poke nets and a long/stop net you will be able to net it. Even if it slows the rabbit down the dog will pick it up, so dont worry, just try different things Good Hunting Sirius
  19. I start 10 on the ring then 12,14,16 then 14 rows of 16 and back down again.
  20. Yes she can have pups in the same litter sired by 2 different dogs.
  21. Not better just more useful on clean sets on hillsides. Good on your own as they hold a rabbit well.
  22. I love catching rabbits in hedges like that Always a gamble though if the net snags and doesn't purse
  23. 16 lol .......... Thats quite a claim, a reasonable dayout in one stopend, he must of had arms like Mr Tickle to get them out once all backed up, must be several meters end to end 3 are about as good as I have done....
