  1. Thank feck for that, I was getting worried 4 trips out accounting for 60 odd rabbits and nil for the braided nets
  2. Aint that the truth, 13 rabbits over your shoulders aswell as the kit in the snow was a fair old effort, but worth it
  3. Had a wander this morning, travelling light, longnets 12 pursenets, ferrets, dog and shovel (just in case) I really wanted to catch a few in the nets I have been making over the last week and try to brake in Netriggers cursed pursed nets.. I had a fair old walk up and down hills to get to these warrens as they are pretty inacessable. . Sat on the hilltops having a brew and taking in the snowy view was magic........ Few snaps of today.. Good Hunting Sirius
  4. I used the same care that skycat and socks have recommended with my dog who had this injury mid December while lamping, he just had the quick showing and no nail at all. The nail is just coming back now, it's a long wait till you get the dog going again, I also started taking the dog to beach for a paddle as much as poss. Good luck Sirius
  5. Most dogs might catch rabbits, but there is a fair old difference between one that and a class rabbit dog IMO.
  6. I have never been keen on it, I get initial jabs done and possibly lepto if needed. It's one of those debates which is down to personal opinion.
  7. I have used tripe for years as a base for feeding. Get them whole and mince or chop up. Great when minced 50/50 with chicken or beef or some offal.
  8. Good luck and let me know if I can help further.
  9. Kelp Seaweed is a great source of all 37 Minerals and trace elements and ideal to add to working dog food. The most important thing is quality and I would recommend you get the best you can that is BHP standard. As quite simply there is allot of very low quality Kelp seaweed floating around. I use it daily with my dogs who are fed a natural diet. A example which is quite interesting is that SA37 is simply a man made version of Kelp Seaweed, but obviously Kelp Seaweed is a better way of feeding due to the facts its natural and better used by the body. You will also notice that many many
  10. I have yet to see a first x Beddy whippet with enough class to be called a superb rabbit dog. They often seem to lack in pace, size and often have the terrier trait of being hard mouthed. I am sure there are exceptions. Forget a certain cross, just look for dogs who are bred to do the job and most importantly HAVE been doing the job for several seasons to a decent standard. ie. Marking, covering nets, catching, jumping, retrieving (preferably with a soft mouth) biddable etc.
  11. Nice job, were many in the family way down there yet?
  12. I use these ones of leeview, I am no pro netter but do find these a nice needle to use. http://foremostly-ferrets.co.uk/?page_id=10
  13. I agree horses for courses, and you gotta do what you gotta do to catch but a trout on the dry is just immensely satisfying
  14. Nice day Brimmer, it's al very well getting big numbers and its always nice to catch a few. But a nice walkout travelling light catching a few can IMO be twice as enjoyable, as long as you don't get too many digs lol I have dug about a handful of times all season till last Sunday and had 3 stoney nightmares one at 6ft which lucky the Jill walked out on after 40mins :-) Good hunting Sirius
  15. You were unlucky that day chalky, me and the other reprobates got away with just the odd two footer lol just don't mention the longnet lol
  16. I agree with Country Joe those ones are superb. If you want to buy onetry Bridport nets, they may have a basket, saw some there the other day
  17. I agree and IMO there is little art in hauling lures across lakes, give me hunting a clever fish every time.
  18. I really like the Greyflex which I have had a few years, its a great little rod Used this to fish river and small still water with and as I do as much Dry fly as I can I found it really suits my style of fishing. I am not one for thrashing brightly coloured lures across big lakes, but love stalking and hunting my fish. I have a Greys GRX reel also which compliments the rod really well
  19. It's always dangerous going off half cocked when you don't know the real facts Especially based on a fairly poor quality clip which last a split second. All the same a nice little film, I bet the fella will regret not pulling out all those leaves from his longnet when packing it away
  20. One of the best season I have had this year numbers wise. I don't have to travel huge distances either luckily same story with my mate down in the next county. The main problem I have is fitting it all in as by the end of the month it will become very slow and boring with nests and littuns running about.
  21. For long nets the smaller gauge is far easier to tie to the grommets .
  22. I have made a few square meshed nets. Good luck you will need it Really? Maybe I`ll just start with a couple of 6yd stoppies then. What makes it harder than diamond mesh to make? Im not quite sure where you hang it from once Ive done a lenth, you know, when you want to shorten your net to carry on. Cant be that much harder than normal mesh surley, same twine, same board, same knot... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/33259-a-rough-guide-on-how-to-make-square-meshed-nets/
  23. something like this http://www.military1st.co.uk/27773-us-army-pickaxe-mattock-metal-head-wooden-handle-olive.html Nice one thanks for the link paulus :-) For 12 it can't be bad, generally yank made tools are well made too
  24. I am after a small mattock/pick axe. The kind you can slide the head on and off. Anyone use one or recommend a decent supplier. Regards Sirius
