  1. We think Bull x whippet about 20" Not got the speed - as you can see for a certain reason, but she puts 100% in to everything she push's her self to the limit, she marks very well both fur and feather, she will go through cover although if its thick tight cover - she wont try, retriving not a chance in hell. When out she never stops - shes always on the go.
  2. Simple answer is nope. They have these people going round all over the country and they pay them, so they cant be that hard up.
  3. Have always given my dogs the shell when ive cooked eggs, never done them any harm been doing it for years.
  4. Teaching to walk on a loose leach is easy - teaching heal is not! Teaching loose lead walking Insted of walking in a stright line, vary it - turn left, walk backwards etc so the dog has to focus on you, it gets to dog to realise that getting to far ahead of you you may be gone, so they learn to keep one eye on you, on the bombing off part - teach a wait ie ask for a wait and unclip the leash - the dog should not move untill you give the command to do so, teaching the wait also helps if they get to far ahead, with mine i just ask for them to wait till i catch up. http://www.thedogtra
  5. My deerhound bitch go's like this after every season most call it post season depression, it normaly takes her a while to come out of it, last's around the same time as a pregnancy would do, but she does go back to normal after that period is over, so may be worth a vet check if its lasting longer. If it is due to this once spayed she should go back to normal. Think thyroid problems can also cause this, so may be worth looking in to that also. How ever some dogs can just be like this once their mature.
  6. Took this at the E OF E show - not got a real clue on bop and have been asked if i know what type of hawk it is. Thought I'd ask hear to see if anyone knows? one of the Little owl (i think)
  7. To me looking at him he looked a little to small to be done, i know my vets wouldnt have done him. Mine went in the other week, hes a bit older around 8 months - but the vet had no problem with doing the vas, when he came home he wasnt wobbly either, bit drowsey thats about it.
  8. Have been told before that as kits ferrets imprint on their food to identify it as food, so could be why if you introduce a new food ie feather insted of fur they wont touch it, have noticed with my two they do have certain foods they prefare to others, ie they love chicken necks and whole chicks, but offer them a chicken wing and it can take them hours to eat it they do eventualy but it takes some time. mine have been brought up on a mix of fur, feather and dried.
  9. You pay on the day - as you walk in to the class you want to enter your dog in to.
  10. that's not the point of the thread, I'm not arsed what I call it to be honest because to me it's a stinker! the point of the thread was that I've always done what lots of other people have done on here and dismissed them as bog standard ferrets. Every other ferret I've ever had has either been a normal polecat coloured ferret or an albino and bar one or two minor personality differences they've all had exactly the same traits and have acted and looked exactly the same. This is a very dark coloured one that acts completely differently. I'm sure 99% of the people on here (myself included
  11. Were not there next month as its peterborough, but LL should be at Askern in November second sat in the month, hopefully.
  12. Happy to announce we are offering leek & potato soup & roll or a bowl of chilli & roll Friday night. £3 a bowl. Please place all orders on LL forum. All proceeds go to Lurcher Link - and in return you get a good hot meal Might be worth posting the link Mel http://www.lurcherlink.org/llink/forum/viewtopic.php?t=83469
  13. I dont have any pic's of her chaseing or grabbing the bun, i didnt have my camera with me and was also to shocked to even think of any pictures. Took this with my phone afterwards though, as the lurcher grabbed the bun, the deerhound grabbed at the same time not ideal as then had a power struggle of who was going to have it! shes stands at 32"
  14. This is where people make the biggest mistakes with a pup, especially Deerhound types,it kills a couple of easy rabbits and so it will soon be ready to test more fully, then reality kicks in and a pup that would have been better left until it was both physically and mentally prepared,as been overfaced, overmatched and if not ruined will take longer to reach its potential. At what age do you say I don't think this dog is what I want or up to its job 2, 3,4 year old? Lets be honest there's better dogs on rabbits and hares even though deerhound lurchers aren't the worse at hare coursing. Iv s
  15. He's off on one now digging out envelopes and stamps and talking about checking the tent. So! It looks like we'll be camping Saturday night. God help me LOL LoL there will be lots of people camping - quite easy to get lost for an hour or two
  16. Try hand feeding raw meat that way the ferret assocates your hand with something good - if that dont work vinager on your hands, all this shoving a finger down its gob, wacking it etc can just make them worse, they learn your hands are not to be trusted. If you have a single ferret then try getting it a mate, ferrets love to ruff and tumble and they do bite each other hard, if they dont get that via another ferret they can and will try it with you.
  17. You can't park right at the side of the ring, but the parking is close just a few meters away, you have to come in at the bottom gate for the lurcher show, insted of coming in the top gates where the public parks.

    CCTV

that can't be right surely, if it's not illegal to film/take pics in a public place how on earth can they say it's illegal to have CCTV without permission? after all, it's exactly the same concept, just a different type of camera that happens to be in a fixed position, isn't it? I would have though it's only an issue if it's facing someone elses private property? i.e. if you have it on your house but it also covers part of your neighbours garden? No you dont need permission from the cops to have cctv up - you do need your neighbours permission if it will affect them in any way
  20. Might help you a bit. http://www.avds-online.org/info/oraltumors.html One of my bitch's had one last year, it grew from the back of the gum through to the front between her teeth, knocking the canine a bit took her to the vets, sat in the waiting room and the sod knocked it down and chewed it off - vet didnt charge anything, its not come back though, but at the age the dog is now, i wouldnt bother with having it removed, the op would more likily kill the dog.
  21. I presume they have checked for struvite crystals ? Struvite crystals wont show on x-rays If they havent i would get them to check for that first and if he does have them, ask for a specilist appointment dont make the mistake i did, as it ended up costing me near 4 grand, problems also can start when they cathertarise(sp) as they can create damage to the uritha(sp) ( specalist vet told me this)
  22. Did anything happen to her when she met the fox in the brook? Rabbits and flying rats are totally different to fox, start to early and you can screw a dog up. Personally i would just take her out with the dog pack as much as possable in every different type of situation and get her used to the gun away from them, that way you can consentrate on Her and not other things, take it slowley at first and build it up then when she is old enough and more settled you can start to bring everything together. One other thing - get a better lead.
  23. You could try hear as well. http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/forum/62-found-birds/page__prune_day__100__sort_by__Z-A__sort_key__last_post__topicfilter__all billybaltic there not rubber anymore - there electronic rings. I had to report one a few weeks ago - unfortunally we only found the legs and the rings of the bird, bloke rang me up about a week after reporting it, thanking me for reporting it, the bird had been missing for two years - least he knows now its no longer alive.
