  2. why not? so if you owned a top class rabbit bitch and wanted to breed a pup of her and you new of 2 good stud dogs, 1 was a purpose bred rabbit dog and the other a failed hare coursing dog which was better on rabbits than the purpose bred rabbit dog would you not use the coursing dog? if not why? if your looking to breed rabbit dogs wheres the problem. everyone always says do best to best breeding when you can.
  3. bryn with a good retrieve my pup and vins bitch bryn keeping his eye on the job end of the day
  4. had a visit yesterday from bird and vin for a steady days mooch and ferreting. vin and ray got to mine for around 8.30 we loaded all my car with the ferrets nets and dogs, ray had bryn with him vin brought mollie and i decided to take my pup for his first ever ferreting trip. with the car loaded up i made the first and most important stop which was the cafe for a take away sandwhich each lol. we arrived at the spot at around 9.15 and started our day out. i took ray and vin to the first warren that normally holds a rabbit but there was no mark from the dogs. ( i was instantly starting to pa
  5. youve done something wrong then because thats all the deban 14ah belt packs are.
  6. just had a look in the deban catalouge 14ah belt battery pack £82.95 or 18ah for £89.95 mate or the single battery pack 14ah £79.95 or 17ah for £89.95. they are the lead batteries but will do the job. i use to use the belt pack before i got a lithium battery
  7. join two of the batteries together mate you will have a 12v 14ah battery kit should last you the night. thats all the old lead deben 12v 14ah battery belt packs are. if you went to a shop that stocks deban battery packs you can get the proper belt case for a tenner and the proper wireing set up for abouit £15 you allready got the batteries. all you have to do is get home and wire it up. you could even get the proper trickle charger with the deben connector on it for about another £20 if you wanted
  8. i always do different burgers some 50% rabbit 50% sausage meat and leave them like that just plain old burgers. i do some 75% 25% etc etc. i add onions mixed herbs and a little black peppercorns. i only weigh the meat each time just add whatever i think with the herbs onions and black pepper. i always put the onions through the mincer. i make hare burgers and venison burgers at times aswell. imo there good quality healthy burgers.
  9. imo a good first cross would be better than a good 3/4 bred. and a first cross is fast enough to take rabbits on the lamp.
  10. she was a english bred airedale bitch cross with a greyhound. her nose was very good, Tbh she wasnt in the most experienced dog mans hands before my mate brought her in whcih didnt help her much at all.
  11. thats exactly what i thought. but apparently he is away filming and isnt aware of it yet so we can let him off lol.
  12. is that the dog in the pic? if so its a smart looking animal. atb with the dogs recovery and hopefully theres no nasty unseen damage done.
  13. my experiences of them isnt great to tell you the truth i worked a bitch, she had a good nose and once on a scent was gone but didnt have any bottle and wasnt over blessed with brains. i will say she appeared to have deccent feet and looked smart enough but that was about as far as it went.
  14. well done. thats a good bit of valuable experience for the pup.
  15. it would help if you mentioned what sort of ground/terrain you will be working your dog on. should give people more idea of a dog to suit you.
  16. atb with the pups if she takes.
  17. another decent day there jim well done.
  18. i can get 1pound for dog rabbits in the skin with guts in. or i can get £1.50 for a rabbit in the skin with guts out. the good thing about the buyer of the ones with the guts in they take them frozen. thats caught with a dog same price ferreted.
  19. i dont do much ferreting but surely you should have some idea of how good a ferret is going to be quicker than 2 years. as long has you have a good marking dog then you are sure theres a rabbit home 9 out of 10 times and you start the ferret on small warrens to improve the chances of finding the rabbit you should be able to tell fairly soon.
  20. i prefer to run dogs as they are general built a bit stronger than a bitches and you have no hassel with them coming on heat.
  21. i always like my lamping dogs to be out in front by a decent distance. my dogs run the quarry and return back to within a certain distance say 25 yards which is what i prefer my dogs to do. they both retrieve 99% of the way.
