  1. great stuff again Trev. looking forward to seeing your posts through out the season.
  2. i would look for a injury. the dog i am running at the moement was playing up for me for a while never refused a run the just after he turned 2 i had all sorts of problems with him. half hearted runs pulling up early not picking some rabbits up. turns out his front dew claws were giving him some serious pain had them removed and touch wood hes been fine ever since. took me a few nights to work out what was causing the problem but i get there in the end.
  3. the amount of work a dog has plays a part in how injury prone they get. heavily worked dogs are steadier and hardened off more than your once a week dogs. they are also more concious of there suroundings there for less lightly to pick up a injury you get lads with dogs that only go out once or twice a week and there dog always seems to be going home with some sort of problem because they are more reckless trying to make the most of there outings and pay more attention to making the catch and ar not so much aware of the hazards around them during the run.
  4. Doubled up most of the time, the day was just about the dogs having fun, atb some of the most enjoyable trips out the no pressure lets just let the dogs do there thing trips.
  5. looks like as great day there trev well done.
  6. i understand what you are trying to say but if we dont stand up and be counted then our chances when the time comes and they move onto us will be zero. if the hunts get there own little deal then it is because they have stood together and got it for there selves.
  7. there is that. but every bite they take out of the heels of these fox hunting meets and coursing clubs is a bite closer to moving onto the small time rabbitter dont you think? and they'll never stop. shooting, horse riding , fishing . every fecking sport that involves any animal in any way. exactly.

  9. i didnt think they done that anymore. i lad was telling me a while back that it had to be stopped because there has been people kill there selves chasing the cheese.
  10. I know what you're saying fella but that's one small fault in everything that we ask of a working dog. You ain't gonna get the perfect dog. The next one might smash cover but not retrieve. The one after might retrieve but cries in the kennel. The next one might be quiet but got bad feet. I could carry on. If you're gonna get rid of every dog what isn't 100% perfect then you're gonna get through some dogs. But you're call mate. All the best. spot on gaz they have all got there faults.
  11. the rain was about the only thing in your favour. the moons up and although there was good cloud cover it was still a light night the rabbits could see where they were going and were flying into the hedges where i was. you are working a young dog that you have brought in so i wouldnt be to disapointed as its only your second time out with the dog from what i can gather reading your post on here.
  12. if they wanted to keep something like that a secret when they were at the top of there game i cant see them saying they had done it at any other point in there lifes. it one of those things we will never know the answer too. its amazing how much stuff comes out about folk when they are not about to defend there selves.
  13. great stuff gaz. the pup appears to be coming on great. all those steady walks and trips out with the bike should have prepared the pup well physically.
  14. the wiring is a pain in the arse. first thing i do with my new lamp is strip it apart and rewire it. i do away with the switch as switches can play up when wet or covered in blood. ive got my lamp set up so has i touch 2 wires together on the back of it much better job altogether imo. ive never needed to replace the wiring upto the bulb though. i always poke plenty of wire back up into the handle and put a small cable tie round the wire and a good amount of electrical tape round that just to stop it pulling back through and breaking the remainder of the original wiring in the handle.
  15. great stuff. all though i nearly always use nets its nice to watch a dog catching bolting rabbits.
  16. tripe should do the job. worm him feed the tripe and see how you get on. i feed my dogs mince chicken, and a mixed mince of lamb and beef. it dont stink the place out and does the dogs tidy along with dry meal aswell.
  17. good luck with them rew. hopefully all will be good now.
