  1. "I don't understand why a pheasant is important to the countyside" Then you are a moron and need to try reading a book on the heritage of the English Countryside. Don't blame others for your ignorance. "It should not be one rule for those who are rich enough to release and shoot pheasants and another for those who don't own land. I don't want to stereotype pheasant hunters as all being upper class because that is bollocks, but there is so much money in the sport that they can evade the laws the rest of us get stumped with and I resent that". What a load of balls
  2. Malt - I see your point it ould be nice if they thought things through properly first time round BUT given that they (politicians) no idea about the real world - I would far rather they guessed and then changed their minds rather than insisted they are right. Sooner or later someone with some balls will shake it all up anyhow. Kind of feel like the country is treading water at the moment.
  3. They are stunning birds but wow have they spread fast
  4. You wait til the kites arrive!
  5. I don't understand why the government changing its mind is a bad thing - isn't that what we want in a democracy? They come up with an idea - we say its cack so they then think again. Good result no? Would we rather they didn't listen.
  6. Regardless of the article which i haven't read - a good teckel will tackle rats as well as a terrier. Mine does.
  7. copper ribbon around your veg plot, a line of salt or you can buy absorbent gravel. In the end I made my veg plot impassable to hedgehogs and use pellets - they are the only really efective method.
  8. Chesil beach has been fishing very well for 2 weeks
  9. Thanks folks - i might be biased but I think she is bloody brilliant! looking forward to seeing what i can put her to and been given a couple of good suggestions,
  10. Hi folks I am after some help/ advice. I am looking to have a 1st litter from my bitch when she comes into season this summer. Going back to The Hoover * Geoff Smith's Fly. So Rebel & Eve lines. i am looking to put her to a good coursing stud to help keep great lines going and improve where possible on what we already have. Bit of history on my bitch: I have never run her for money
  11. on my bicycle and the right food and plenty of free running.
  12. 223 - does your maize polinate okay in a strip? I always plant mine in square blocks and thought you ran the risk of not getting them polinated in rows?
  13. Ooh might have to have a think about that. i haven't got any spinach or kale this year so might fire some chard in.
  14. doesn't matter what you choose - you'll never be able to see it and anyone else who does will tell you to put your clothes back on.
  15. Chard -isn't somethinig I have ever grown - is it worthwhile?
  16. nice set up. I have: Main crop spuds - they have been earthed up twice and might now let them go. Early spuds - once lots earthed up once, one lot just breaking through - these are well off the pace so need to get cracking. Got my runner bean, borlotti beans and french beans in - they are all about a foot tall and staring to wind up the canes. My carrots and leeks all failed in the wet so I am re-starting those in the greenhouse and will transplant as soon as they get up to size. Onions are looking good Garlic is looking good - can't be much longer till its ready Lettuce and rocket
  17. i met Rolfe Harris at the airport when i was about 10 - went over and asked for his autograph and he told me to "piss off - I'm on holiday too". My old man had a word with him that ended up with security being called. It was about the highlight of the holiday from memory
  18. Use a machine gun or an apache helicopter gunship. Alternatively be pleased you have some wildlife in your garden and leave them alone.
  19. Smash his back doors in. Sorry wrong thread
  20. I have thought about this before but think you need the pack mentallity and stronger bones. The bones in a whippets leg at 6 months is like the thickness of the bones in your finger. One wrong move and you are faced with a serious decision. My whippet snapped her front leg in half at 3 and a half months by crashing into my pointer. The insurance has paid out over £3k to get her fixed and it is now looking like it might come good a year later, EVERYONE I asked at the time said to just put her down.
