  1. You don't so often hear about the freezing temperatures that have been occurring around the world in the mainstream media, like this from a couple of years ago...... http://www.maritime-executive.com/article/hundreds-seamen-trapped-frozen-sea-okhotsk/
  2. Variety is the spice of life Dazzz....you wont be far off with that mix.
  3. There's a lot of different brands over here as well as the rest of the U.K. and I suspect there is not much difference in quality because in order to claim any product as a "complete" diet it must contain a certain minimum variety of nutrients. I'm sure that Australian marketing costs more than most and that's why the price is higher than most, same as Hills and Eukanuba etc. but I still feed natural....after all these years.
  4. We all have Banner man but they cant hack the long runs on fenland....Don't know what I've done to my writing ha ha. Anything with hair or feathers I'm ok but this techno shit I'm lost, lol.
  5. Don't know what age you are Banner man but Tanner was a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 bearded collie bred by Hancock off his Jake dog and bought by my old hunting partner Millsy as a pup along with another bigger dog which was 1/8 border 1/8 beardie 3/4 greyhound. When they reached 11 months old Millsy offered me either one as his domestic circumstances had changed. The bigger dog had a shoulder injury and he gave me a trial with both. For reasons I wont mention here I declined the offer and Templeking bought Tanner. For three months Tanner was running all over hares but not picking up. Then he started l
  6. Sorry Speedie, I don't have a tribalistic agenda. All my thinking I try to base on logic, and that would apply to your dogs as much as anyone elses.
  7. So if Lucas has mated 44 bitches and say the average litter is 8 pups that equates to about 350 pups and one jacked?....in june?...when the ground is likely to be dry as a bone?....excuse me if I wonder what all the fuss is over. Congratulations to such a statistically successful dog. And I have no particular connection to Lucas or his owner.
  8. We all had collie crosses banner man, for years that was what we all ran. If I was doing nothing but ferreting thats probably what I'd have....a first cross collie/greyhound.
  9. Hares breeding in october is nothing new. I caught a banged up doe on boxing day over 30 years ago and the cubs had their eyes open and were still alive when I opened her. These were the first and unsuccessful bunch I tried to rear. It's not about trying to be hunting gods.....it's about sustainably harvesting the surplus. If we kill all the pregnant does and leverets in summer what's left to hunt in winter? We all have hunted soft summer hares but after a while some of us grow up and catch on that, especially over here where hares can be scarce in vast areas, they need to be allowed to breed.
  10. Lamping around street lights not usually very effective so its probably just another innocent dog walker stigmatised (spelling?) by the particular type of dog he chooses to share his life with. In human society it would be called racism!
  11. If a pup is priced above what you're prepared to pay then don't buy.....it ain't compulsory!
  12. Nothing to do with the saluki half BM lol. Is everyone going to the game fair on sunday? I'm working friday and saturday nights but hope to stay awake long enough on sunday to drop by for a while.
  13. I used to write the Forley reports in EDRD and then one year the lads asked me to send it to the cmw as they thought it would reach a wider audience. I soon received a request from cmw to sign an agreement allowing them to "use the material as they wished". Naively I did so and a short while thereafter an article penned by Plummer appeared using all the info I had provided and worded so as to give the impression that he had been there and seen it......the man never attended a single Forley. That was enough to put me off the rag for life!
  14. Fair play to you Fuji you got lovely looking pups, beautiful scenery and take some of the best pix on this forum!
  15. I've been involved in physical culture all my life and have my own opinions, but I think the most important maxim regarding diet is to eat a proper balanced diet of wholefoods...ignore suppliments and all the hype that surrounds their use and enriches the bank accounts of those selling them. There are no magic potions.....illegal steroids may provide early boosts but at the cost of long term health. I remember listening to a steroid pusher in the changing room of a great gym in Belfast years ago advising a young lad what dosage of a particular drug he should be taking and he couldn't even pron

    Salad....

I used to grow my own salad leaves so I knew my salads hadn't been pawed over by strangers. Tuna, spring onions, chilli, sweet corn and Helmans...topped with anchovies and sun dried tomatoes. Garnish with the aforementioned salad leaves and when you've eaten the food off the plate the canaries were grateful for the leaves!! I always did say vegetarian food is the best possible accompaniment to a nice T bone!
  17. Ps old Wilfy was originally from Tobermore
  18. Banter old Wilf was retired by the time I met him and it was me who introduced Tks cousin who I was hunting with first and later Tk to Josey. Fly dog was already four years old by then. I always said the wee dog was past his best by that age and I maintained, (rightly or wrongly ) it was the whippet in his breeding that shortened his working lifespan. He burned very brightly for three good seasons at hares then dropped a bit but still a great rabbit, cover and fox dog.
