You'll remember the wee Rum dog Nibs...a bit before TK's time...but he was bred that way, although not in the same league as Fly. I bred him to the whippet bitch, Daisy, and gave the Sparky pup to my young sister? He killed some stuff before she went all emotional on me and quit hunting!

Yes my pal Sean's partner is a Hungarian doctor and she's been telling me all about these dogs. Like the Galgos, they seem to represent the type of greyhound that existed before track racing, when hare hunting was the main job. Her family still live over there and if I was younger and still into that game I'd bring one in and introduce some saluki lurcher to it for sure.

Tk its a pity no one was there to video that....if all the mishaps we all had in the field were recorded it would make a great show.

Remember the hare up Antrim way that went into the well Tk. We couldn't reach it so I stuck a big length of wood across at an angle from just under the water on one side to the rim of the opposite side in the hope that it would be able to climb out after we'd gone? I would like to think it did get out and wasn't destined to swim in circles to exhaustion.

No Rob I haven't been over with him in a while.

Ah the mist clears....thanks Rob. I haven't spoken to him for a few months. He did mention a dog but not the name. Should be a chancy pup then.

Hairy dog but he'll be dead a while now.

It was his pal Harry that owned Oscar. Tough dog with great wind.

Why would I be marching.......? Is UKIP holding a rally over here?
-
You know how well UKIP are doing when the msm is focusing on a little politically incorrect statement from a party member who has already had the whip removed, rather than the important issues at the heart of UKIP's manifesto.....diversionary tactics that we must all recognise!

Yes they'd rather we rolled over tamely and continued to surrender our independance to them.....much easier that way. Our fallen heroes of two world wars would be turning in their graves if they could see the extent to which this country has been conquered by stealth, aided and abetted by a largely left wing media and the last labour government riddled with so many "ex" commies!

Just realised after reading this how much I miss Chartpolski's input......can't we have him back? -
I visited Dean last year....nightmare journey from here, but that's another story.....he had a lot of spars and goshawks that he was rearing as imprints as well as some American Kestrels and a couple of Golden Eagles that had come in from abroad. Eric is parent reared?

The triumph of dedication over adversity is an excellent aim......and to tie this concept to consumption of a mind altering substance is an advertisers dream.....transferring our admiration for those battling hardship to whichever product is being promoted. I refuse to conflate the two, lol.

Well seprim we could stop using fossil fuels....return to the stone age and die of starvation in our hundreds of millions....but that would just confirm our stupidity.

For anyone with an interest in the religion of "Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming", the former meteorologist Anthony Watts runs the most popular blog on the subject.....www.wattsupwiththat.com and unlike alarmist blogs like "real climate" which censors out dissenting voices, Anthony allows comment from both sides of the debate. He also gives a lengthy interview along with other prominent realists here...... http://topher.com.au/50-to-1-video-project/

Fitter Type English Bull Terrier
BOLIO1 replied to gull terrier's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Yes like any breed bred purely for performance....winning dog to winning bitch....I would expect the quality to improve over time. In the same way show type dogs bred to conform to a standard drawn up by a committee would likely degenerate into a caracature of the original breed. Imagine the slab sided show greyhound running in the derby or a modern Lassie type collie herding sheep. -
Fitter Type English Bull Terrier
BOLIO1 replied to gull terrier's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
so what went into the creation of the apbt to make them the bulldogs off today?? That's putting the cart before the horse big E.....the term bulldog is what most of the yanks called their sporting pit dogs until about 1898 when I think it was a columnist in the Police Gazette (which used to publish match reports at the time) who began to use the term American Pit Bull Terrier....possibly out of patriotism??? Sporting bulldogs where still being exported from the British Isles to the U.S. after that time. Exports from Belfast, Glasgow, London and Cork are all mentioned in the old books and -
