  1. I mean the old dogs were bred for purpose rather than looks lol......(Drink and age ffs) lol!
  2. I think that's a typo Johnny 2.....bred for looks rather than purpose imho!
  3. You got it in one Dare....the media promulgate the idea that dogfighters use "bait dogs" and idiots with no background in dogs begin to copy what they've read. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and real dog men get the blame!
  4. "None so blind as those who will not see"
  5. Got my first staff in 1967. In those days they were far more likely to be dog aggressive and far less likely to be people aggressive....any ideas why?
  6. This bitch is more than 7/8 saluki and is pictured here aged exactly 7 months retrieving a ferreted rabbit. She was almost as fast on the retrieve as on the run out. Not due to any training....just good bonding imho!
  7. Well said Robbo. People need to remember that Harold Wilson closed more pits than Thatcher, but Scargill couldn't have motivated his Marxist minions so easily against a Labour administration. By focusing blame on the Tories.....and a woman Prime Minister.....he was able to appeal to class hatred and tribalism!
  8. Yes Toal2011 my pal from across the water had received two texts from two different people and managed to misinterpret both! He's absolutely mortified as you can imagine and apologies have been passed on to the family. At least John knows he's held in high regard by men across the British Isles!
  9. Sailor30 Foxy never ran in the doubles. Only Dancer ran in both. Bear in mind the difference between a match, where the owner would slip his own dog and the Forley cup as it was then where the slippers slipped your dog and tried to get through the card by giving the hare every advantage. Pity those types of do's are gone forever.
  10. Merry xmas to you too Rio....you know I know your on the wind up
  11. No but land full of strong hares is methinks.
  12. To proclaim any dog to be the best means to have competed against and to have beaten the best. I hope Riohog that you aren't going to disappoint me and state that you think any dog can be declared the best according to it's pedigree?
  13. Ha nice to see my pic off our dining room wall doing the rounds lol. Great respect for this bitch.... even more for the bitch that beat her in the Forley cup, Dancer! And full respect to Alan for putting Foxy's brother Nipper over Dancer to produce Blondie....in my opinion the best ever!
  14. DNA, pedigrees etc. don't count for anything against hares caught in the field. That's the measure of a dog....be it the best, a good one, or a poor specimen. I think Riohog knows this and is winding us all up.
  15. About 35 years ago I was using a wee k.c. whippet called Daisy....(poofy name....I know)..... for ferreting and lamping. An old pal told me he would take me on some permission he had up near the north coast, but there were so many rabbits that I should leave Daisy at home...she'd never stick the graft. Well I brought her along and she ran, turn about, with his lurcher bitch all night. We had a good bag and the last field had a chain link fence about 3 1/2 feet high across the section beside the motor. I jumped over in my usual athletic manner in those days, as did Matt, and I gave Daisy the "c
  16. There are some sub human kunts in this world and they aren't worthy to hold the mans bitch's leash!
  17. We did it for years....me and TK always gave our farmers a bottle. Nowadays since I'm no longer coursing, but flying hawks, I'm more likely to buy them a pint as we often drink in the same pub with the land owners.
  18. Sports peronality of the year. By far the best tennis player in British history....go on ya boy ya!
  19. I remember writing letters of support for coursing to our local press over 40 years ago when the anti's at Crebilly amounted to about eight sad idiots. It always puzzled me that the greyhound coursing fans rarely wrote in support of their own activities....and yet years later these same fans deride the lurchermen who stood up for their sport when they wouldn't!
  20. Courser it wasn't in the competition....it was on the same land. Jim and Tony gave us, and others, days out on it from time to time. Yes J you've had that tie longer than I did....nine years by gum lol
  21. Remember the day on the Forley cup land when Chris was with us TK and he slipped Captain and ran off into the horizon. Jim, Tony, you and I carried on coursing and at the lunch time rendezvous back at the farm Chris turned up without his dog? Turned out the dog had crossed the canal to the other fen and had been ran ragged at hare after hare before we drove across and eventually caught him up several hours after the initial slip. Chris was a mighty relieved man that day.
  22. We were once a free country......
  23. I remember being at a coursing do in the 90's where the proceeds of the day were donated to an air ambulance fund.....not sure if it's the same one but how times have changed!
  24. Last time I got pulled....doing nothing illegal mind....it was purely because the clothes I chose to wear while out with the dogs included the typical cammo cargo pants and a green jacket. If not, why were none of the other dog walkers we passed accosted? The cop actually told us that the chopper had been watching us specifically. She said we fitted the description. My point is that if its wrong to discriminate on the basis of religion or ethnicity....why is it right to discriminate on the basis of clothing? What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?
  25. Thats what I mean Desertbred....they aren't allowed to dscriminate by profiling for say, knife crime in London, even though its rife amoung certain ethnic groups but its ok to discriminate against the majority based on outward appearance.
