this is my last post on this topic, 1...... you were the one that said hunt terrier men use the collor the most so they should know, i agreed and thats why i said i dig for a hunt because you said terrier men should know about this problem...... well i do know!! 2...... im not shitting money so if i can prolong the life of a collar i will, insulating tape is cheap and does the job! 3..... your original arguement was collars dont get bitten unless they are on a dogs nose and the dog is useless.... 4......they are built for purpose yes, so are condoms but they leave the -

make up your mind, are you now saying my dogs arent shite that the collar does possibly get teeth marks on it????? who is the gobshite now?? i will explain, enough layers of tape and the teeth dont have the same penetration on the plastic as they do without the tape....... you neednt tape yours tho, seems you dont need to worry about it getting bittin... or the dog for that matter!!! he send ya the co-ordinates of the fox in the hole so you can dig it!!! -

jasus there is no talkin to some people, firstly that isnt my picture or collor, tommy bet me to it. secondly read my post properly, i said i taped up my collar after it started to get badly marked from teeth, im after spending the last 20mins taking off the tape to take a stupid picture to prove an arrogant person wrong which shouldnt need to be done! ill have pics uploaded in the morn of MY collor with tape removed and then a pic of it with the tape back on. by the way i am a hunt terrier man so your right, i do see a lot of foxes!! and we are not pre-ban yet in ireland!! -

think it says more about the dogs you work! if you regularly work terriers that don't sit half a mile away from the quarry the collar's bound to get marked thank you benellisupernova, nothing worse than sombody telling you your wrong when your perfectly right! pics on the way for your scruteneering process whippet 99, if pics of the collor on the dog in a hole with its game is needed im sure i can arrange that aswell, just to show im able to follow the bellman and flint step by step instructions on how to put the collor on the dogs neck and not his nose! -

please enlighten me..... if your dogs are tight to there quarry the quarry doesnt decide to just bite the dogs nose, he will snap what he can and as much as he can. work your dogs enough and you collar gets teeth marks on it. if i have to put up pics of a collor with marks i will but i think the lads on here that do there share know the collors get a slap every now and then and teeth do mark them. how in your vast experience do you think they may not get marked??? if the dog is back two foot from its game is it? the proof is i work terriers and i have teeth marks on the collor and most col -
Bolting Foxes/hard Terriers
fox digger replied to Dan Davies's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
not quite, the patterdale as a whole is a hard type terrier, there is a massive amount of them that mix it steady and bay, i have some of them! but in comparison to other breeds such as the russell the odds would be the majority are bayers mixers but you can get several hard types in this breed also. different lines of every breed are breed to work a certain way, ie a hard patterdale bitch put to a hard patterdale dog will "in theory" produce hard type pups, especially if the parents are bred down from a line of hard types and in most lines the blood in the dog and bitch will be similar and ha -
Bolting Foxes/hard Terriers
fox digger replied to Dan Davies's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
if the hunt could design a terrier to bolt every fox there would be no need to carry the shovel!! as said any terrier is capable of bolting a fox if he has a route to go, if he is in a stop end the hunt prefer bayers that will mark there quarry till dug and not take too much stick. it tends to be a harder terrier that will take hold of the quarry and there is hard types in all breeds be they Russell, patterdale, lakeland or whatever. its only from entering the dog that you know/find out what way it works. -
Tape Up Collar To Black Out Flashing Light
fox digger replied to rob84's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
i personally tape up mine! i leave a narrow gap in the tape to see the flashing light so i know when its on or off. i tape it up because the casing was getting shook with teeth marks and deep tears. ive seen two collors with the ends in shite on them and not waterproof anymore. i put on a shit load of tape good and tight and it helps stop teeth tearing it, that is the only reason. -

Ferret/ Dogs Stolen? Read This

just re-enforces the fact that there are thieves among us on thl and blowing up your dogs and saying they are this that and the other on an open forum for thieves to see is simply highlighting the ones to go for. lads ye have names and addresses, every stolen topic on here has there fair share "name and shame" "and if we knew there names we would X..Y...and Z them".... crack on!! -

i wasnt going to reply to this topic anymore but after reading your post wirral i had to say that that sums up this thread in a nut shell and should be enough of an answer to anyone who thinks because the dog is game as mustard he can squeeze anywhere...... the red dog in my profile pic was 9 years old, been a trooper for me all his days and gave me some memorable days, he was about 12" pretty spannable with average size pair of hands, went almost all places, sometimes not with ease... but last winter i dug to him for the last time, both him and and his game had closed there eyes, both suffoca

and we wonder why hunting is trying to be outlawed........ what would it be like if terrier work was totally banned, if a terrier wasnt left enter the ground again regardless of circumstances, protection of game birds or any other reason, who would we blame?? we would have nobody to blame only our own who do there upmost to be wreckless, kill everything and leave all the evidence for every joe to see and give the other party all the ammunition they need to put there case forward that terrier work should be banned..... nobody, be they pro hunt, fence sitters or antis want to see remains th -
did cross my mind not a bad idea tho with all the dog thefts, not aimed at the op, but they could have been anybody with anybody elses dogs so giving the dogs a scan cant be a bad thing if it has a chance of finding a stolen dog? jmo Seriously though, do you think the police are interested in finding stolen lurchers? That interested they'd buy scanners to find them? they have scanners baw, i know its rare but i know of sites that gets checked every time this particular guard is about there area and any dog with a chip is traced to see if it is stolen. the guard in question is spot
