  1. A little bit of punctuation goes a long way.
  2. 38 miles. 1hr 3m away Jim. ..................And it involves a Motorway journey. Lutterworth or Leicester is closer.
  3. I managed to blag some Glyphosate off the gardener of an estate we were working on a few years ago . Needed it for a troublesome path outside the house. Unbeknown, the then GF, poured it all on neat. Killed the weeds anyway, and I never had to do it again........... I get mine of a Farmer where a mate at works wife, keeps her Horses at. A paintbrush and paint it on neat to cut stems for hardier weeds, and be careful of the pond.
  4. I'm on a Match Fishing forum, a few Hill Walking forums and the Voldemort forum. They all have their place, but TBH, i'm starting to get a little bored with all the forum lark. But thats just me. Edit: ........I think the worst thing about ANY forum, is they become cliquey. It then becomes very difficult for genuinely new members to join in.
  5. A complete and utter waste of tax payers money. It's not sunny - no electric. It's not windy - no electric. What happens then ?? People still need power, so the power stations still need to be running. We can't just turn the power stations off. To keep the supply voltage at a acceptable level, the transformer at a sub-station changes the voltage automatically when extra demand is needed. If the sun goes in or the wind drops, the transformer changes the volts to compensate. The transformers are changing volts so often now because we can't rely on the sun or wind, their burning out. It's causing
  6. This one bottomed out a set of 120lbs Rueban Heatons. Or something like that. The lad on the right (My hunting partner) has a bad back, think you can tell that from the photo.
  7. I suffer terribly in the Winter. I get what we call at work "Brickies Fannies" Splits at the end/sides of my finger nails. Effing painful and you always seem the catch them, thus opening them up again. The only thing I find works is this http://www.okeeffesco.com/working-hands A bit sticky but it does the job.
  8. Are you sure it was today................What's todays date ??
  9. Cheers D. Needed some divine intervention rather that luck today though. But they do say a bad days fishing is better than a good day at work, and thats about all I can say about todays effort. The usual section I fish - the wind is normally in your face, making float control difficult and bloody uncomfortable too. So had in mind to fish further downstream and from the other bank, thus avoiding having the wind in my face. Well, big schoolboy error. Watched the weather forcast before setting off this morning. Said the wind will be from the east - different direction than normal........
  10. Well. It's been a while, what with working most weekends and all. Iv'e just not managed to get out as often as i'd of liked. But as the river season is coming to an end, i'm having a day on the Trent tomorrow. Weather's not good, but a day fishing the feeder seems in order. Caster and Hemp, down the middle. Red maggot on the hook. Anyone else out, tight lines.
  11. I feel for you Ossie,I know where you're coming from I performed CPR on my dad at his home coming up to nearly a year now on the 27th of this month. Tried for nearly 25 minutes until paramedics arrived, its been the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.Sadly my dad didn't make it,its affected me so much that I've experienced flashbacks every day since.sounds abit daft but because I could hear his ribs crunching I was afraid of hurting him.He was 68 and there was no warning signs.here one minute and gone the next so yes I do totally agree it should be taught at schools. My deepest sympathi
  12. Don't like or watch the show and don't like any of the presenters either...........And I bet the suspention is still with pay.
  13. Just done our refresher first aid course two weeks ago, every two years for us. Fu*king hate doing it. Brings back un-happy memories of giving CPR to my Mum. I find the CPR part of the course really difficult. It wasn't made any easier one year by the female trainer going into great detail of how it should be done, then later telling us she'd never had to do it for real. But First Aid is part of our job, so we have to do it.
  14. We used to have the odd game of Rugby against both Leic's and Notts police. Never had trouble getting 15 players for those games. Dirty ba*tards too........Mind, we gave as good as we got.
  15. We wouldn't get away with stuff like that any more at our place. One of the questions the young lads get asked by their Managers is "Are you being bullied" ?? The real answer should be "Of course they fu*king are" Manual labour and hard graft isn't something many of our apprentices know the meaning of. Facebook and texting on their phones is though.
  16. Eaten all the Barbel out of the Great Ouse................... Allegedly.
  17. Got checked in September. Been checked a few times over the years, mainly in big matches. More chance of being checked on todays Commercials than a River me-thinks. Easier for them and more folks fishing Commies.
