    i maintain i wish i had took a lot more pics of the dogs ive had. i do have pics of all of them but as you say the memories will always be there.i was rooting through a cuboard the other day and came across a old pic of a beardy cross i had brought back memories of a day in cumbria a long time ago the dog was on fire that day.

    only ever got rid of 1 dog and that was a beardie.I've been seriously tempted What don't you like about your beardie/grey? He looks well capable if he's the one in a photo on another thread. I'm guessing it's to do with temperament.It's entirely to do with temperament, he's an arsehole. Shame that gnipper the one i had its temperament was fantastic.

    i got it from the first issue enjoyed the same authors as yourself plus old sammy vaughan arthur wyman etc but as they dropped off the mag went downhill in my opinion.

    Just a few lessons learned early one 1. its not the best idea to ferret open ground without permission but i was young and wet behind the ears then. 2 pick a good parking place when out lamping.parked on the edge of a housing estate got back to the van after what was a poor night rabbit wise first time on the ground. Got in a police car came in front up to the bumper and one did the same from behind. Asked for names addresses etc checked them through. Stroked the dogs looked in the bags and said i know you are only after a bit of sport but dont come back here. He said someone had rang them fro

    Seen the prices on some ridiculous and the price on the sealyhams is worse.Agreed about the price tags sadly they do seem to be attracting some chancers after the ££££s sadly there are a few decent folk about having the odd litter for sensible prices if your willing to wait though atb i like from reading what the breed offers and for what i do mainly ferreting/bushin mooching im sure one would be ideal but as you say a high price tag would be a stumbling block for some atb.

    ive had the odd feisty one when young struggle a bit when collaring up. A bit of goats milk in a small dish when they start lapping away on goes the collar nice and easy.Soon accept it as nothing.

    Fast exciting dogs to watch seen them ferret/lamp and take a hare or two local. ive seen 1 that lasted well work wise and a few others that broke their owners hearts injury wise.

    Sorry to hear about your loss walshie. A old friend of mine happy go lucky sort mad into lurchers/ferreting etc always out with the dogs. Started drinking a bit too much in my opinion out of the blue he was found hanged after being missing for a few days a stones throw from my house.

    My mum had hers traced to the 1700s no suprises all lived in and around Prescot merseyside just working class jobs miners watch/clock makers which was a industry in Prescot and some worked on lord derby estate. My dads a bit done his grandmother came over as a young girl age 14 from ireland but not gone any further.

    i was hunting over 30 years ago i wish i had taken a lot more pictures .just to look back on seen some good dogs in action time dims the memory in my case anyway .atb.The crux of that statement Darbo, is that you would like them to refresh your own memories, little else. Nostalgia if thats the right word. Very much the same as me Darbo, in that i wish i'd have taken more photos years ago. Though i did have a whole lot more but destroyed them just after the ban. Not that i would have ever put them up on here or any internet site but they were some great memories of good old dogs and damn good
