  13. they are the worse photos ive seen on here nice pair of dogs though
  14. use cocktail sticks but not all trees have soft bark on hence 1 1/2 inch flat head nails in some cases.
  15. all of the above plus flat headed nails to use on trees when i cant get a purse net to hang. 6mm garden canes come in useful when netting akward holes secatears a must all my ferreting is in woodland. bright coloured golf tees to put down as a marker where the ferret has killed in usually stop ends. try to dig as a last resort but on ocassions if a ferret has left the kill i can still dig to retrieve the rabbit or rabbits by having the marker in place where the ferret has killed in. some of my ferrets over the years stay with the kill some kill and move on. i have often been sucessful using th
  16. good on your young dog. work her alone while she is young and just starting off and im sure you will get that retrieve to hand.good luck.
  17. the people to talk to are on the wbf. there is a half cross on there that sounds like a very handy dog.there is the odd litter from time to time.get a good one and they wont let you down daytime or lamping. i have seen a few over the years with my own eyes.one of the best dogs i have seen hunting up finding /marking/catching rabbits and odd hares was a beddy/grey. was also a good dog for ferreting.
  18. gnipper very kindly gave me a young jill early this year who is turning out to be a good little worker.
  19. when i was a young man i often went out with other people. for a good number of years now i just go out alone apart from the odd trip out with the man who started me off 26 years ago who is now a oap.
  20. good write up. enjoyed it .fair play to everyone involved lads lasses dogs and ferrets.
  21. i certainly dont think i am a hunting god far from it. a example i man 1 rag arse terrier ( no lurchers allowed on the land). hard sets to net low rabbit numbers. dog marks well.the result a few hard earned rabbits.2nd example 1 rag arsed terrier me and a 67 year old man. good land easy to net etc. result 20 plus rabbits.
  22. agree. been out on invites a few years ago. good numbers regular.easy sets to net no snags.flat pasture land short grass. on the other side of the coin been onto land in woodland brambles, tree roots etc no easy netting. a good marking dog a absolute must.decent sized warrens holding very few rabbits.
  23. in my area there was a mixture of both. some people just lamped. some just ran hares. some did both. when i was well into the running dogs. i lamped, ran hares and used them bushing with a terrier. as did quite a few people.
