    I reckon you should stand the Don dog at public stud. He'd do nothing but good to the lurcher population. He's got enough of the right kind of collie to make an impact on any line. but how many would do such a line the justice. Breeding's one thing, entering, raising and fielding are a whole different ball game

    I'm an admirer of most base lines of lurchers. Like Fuji, I have collie, bull and saluki types, but for me, a well bred and wisely rear cur is a joy to work with, not just to watch. I guess thats why I've gone back to what I know works for me. The writings of a departed wordsmith may have been little more than an branding exercise for the collie x, and has probably done more to tarnish the types reputation in the long run. So just keep on keeping on

    Think my missus is part collie, she can tell when my bag is getting full and acts accordingly too! mine must be a bull x. Entered too early, looked the part. then went on to jack. She just a pet now

    Too true Border lad. the modern collie has changed into pet and other sub types that never existed before. most of the modern collie x's that replicate the abilities of old have had modern coursing dogs added, and/or terrier x's which appears to negate some of the less desirable modern collie traits.it "simples 'em up" a bit

    They are all in the woods up here. Spent a couple of afternoon shooting them flighting in from a telehandler workstation. birds coming in at eye level like driven grouse. some of the best shooting I've had in years

    My 28 bore is one of the few guns I really regret selling. A aya matador side by side. 1/2 and full choke, by christ did it hit hard for a small gun. lovely patterns with 21g no6. light as a feather, perfect for walked up grouse and partridge, and never shamed by normal pheasants. Loaned it to a mate to teach his son to shoot and he offered my a silly price after using it himself for the back end of the season. I'll never learn

    I have shot rats, squirrels and magpies off of the bird table from the bathroom window of my Bungalow. That's with 2 1/2'' Eley Fourlongs in a Hushpower Baikal. I wouldn't even dream of trying it with the 12g SX 3. i've shot a rat on the bird table from 5 yards with a 12 bore. feck all left of it. And that included the bird table. Effective though
