  1. I've only read the one EDRD with Eddies tales in, I enjoyed reading it, I also was surprised to find out he'd been in the North Staffs hunt.
  2. I can only speak as I find, Neil went out of his way to help me enjoy a trip I had over there many years ago, before anyone knew who I was. His time, his diesel and his company was much appreciated, another thread gone to pish.
  3. I've dug one with white front legs, i didn't know at the time, someone pointed it out on a photo lol. South Shropshire used to get a lot of dark foxes really blue with blue tails, and a mates got a skin on the wall that's brown, it could be the copious amounts of nicotine in there though
  4. No idea, I'll ask him when I see him
  5. Had a few pictures sent to me by a friend, he loves a bit of one up man ship
  6. I don't like terriers with long teeth, they always seem to get hooked out easy by foxes, I like a strong stumpy tooth.
  7. You've got to admit it's contradictive, it should of said he wouldn't think twice about putting down a coward.
  8. I'd pick a better face than a f***ing sex case !
  9. The only acception I've ever seen was funnily enough a EBT X russell. She was a bit big for an out and out digging dog, especially in the small sandy places around here.
  10. .Not used it myself mate ,straight bull that is but have used dogs with 1/8 and 1/4 to good effect and feel this is what keeps the size ,something I've seen dwindle elsewhere .I'm fully aware its not purist but results are what its about for me .Many lines of black dogs owe a good deal to early infusion of the right bull imo which many lads are unaware of .Just out of interest D why you so against it . There was plenty about when i started out, the only thing they had in common was they were all gassy shite hounds. To big in the chest, out in the shoulder and often mute or bad in kennels. I
  11. We'll have to agree to disagree FD, i wouldn't touch anything with bull in it with a barge pole
  12. Foot plates, Hanwag boots if you can afford them or Hiax if you're on a budget.
  13. I go barefoot, it's no good testing the dogs if you're not pushing yourself too
  14. I've got a place across the road from me, i enter my pups in it, I've dug it for decades. I put Sid in it with no collar on just to do the old school dig when he was in his first season. I took a mate there, showed him where I'd dug it before, explained how easy it is and told him we'd be done within the hour. He pops his young dog in, out comes the B&F, after a short scratch around i got a mark of 12 ft ! I turned and told him the score and he just grinned at me thinking i was pulling his pudding, he soon lost that grin when i didn't grin back !! It's true, "shit can happen".
  15. And there in lies the truth, Amen
  16. It's not about an occasional dig two foot deep in sand, it's about consistent work, time after time. Even then, could they reproduce themselves consistently ?
  17. I don't agree with the agitation theory, I work on facts proven through work not theories. I'm not picking an argument, but I'd like to see any evidence of the said theories working in practice before I'd believe it
  18. You don't half talk some shit morton, it's hard enough to breed a terrier with the desired traits when you're using blood that's tested and used on bigger things than rabbits and rats. You remind me of the tits i used to listen to as a kid, you'd hang on their every word thinking it was gospel, when in reality they hadn't got a clue. If you would ever like to prove to me that your wonder dogs work under the sod, where God intended, you're welcome at anytime
  19. Different dog, i won't say how the one in the book is bred, it wasn't my dog so i haven't got any right too.
  20. That would mean getting off my arse and actually walking the farms, it's much easier to have a nosey on Google earth
  21. I had russells in the eighties, we all make mistakes
