Very respectable bag of pigeons, top quality free range meat for the freezer, and what a great bit of wood! Thought the stock on mine was nice but that's incredible.

Twas a damned good day mate! Thanks again for organizing it, raging sun, flat calm and endless bights, couldn't ask for more. Cheers J

Daystate Huntsman Regal
mole trapper replied to JDE's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Really pleased with mine in .177, had the classic before it. Definitely nicer wood by a long way, very accurate, slightly more shots, marginaly quicker lock time etc. Long and short of it, you have made a good choice and won't be disappointed. Stick a mamba lite or a Hawke panorama ev so on it and it will be the danglies. -
Quick heads up on these, 27 ltd capacity, 3 year guarantee, digital control, Vigo price 169.99. Lidl 29.99 In store now.

Moxy there is a book called home smoking and curing that is cheap as chips on Abe, will give you loads of ideas, you could get stuff sent over from the states for not a lot also from cabelas etc, just a thought. Jamie

Funny enough, I have a book here called fishing for lobsters crabs and prawns by b r faunthorpe, very old book but really interesting, all about this sort of thing, even covers using a terrier to find fingers at low tide!

Nice write up and pictures, the more I read about these stage 2 std rifles the more I think I should part with somemoney. -
Great viewing as always! Random question, but what are the boots Davy is wearing? They look like a pair of brashers that I had, brilliant boots but they stopped making them. Regards Jamie

Emerald Ultra
mole trapper replied to mole trapper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Boiling with blue sky, should have gone north coast really and got a few maccy for tea. -
Can't go to work today as all scheduled customers seem to have buffered off to the beach, so I thought I would give the ultra a different scope and try a few pellets. Scope is a panorama ev ao 3-9x40 with the half mil dot, this made for a very light combo that you could carry all night. Set out targets at lazed 25,35 and 45 meters with 15 mm kill zones. The objective was to test a few types of pellets that I did not have when I bought the ultras. These were, jsb exact, daystate sovereign, super domes and ,9.5 gen exterminators. At 25 Mts off a bag all pellets produced ragged one hole group

Thoughts On 8 Shot 12G Escort
mole trapper replied to deerhunter25's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Get one and ignore the negatives, if you clean it they keep going fine, they have a guarantee for 3 years. Had my 5 shot about six years now with no probe. -
Nice job! I likey very much. We knocked one up at our old place but left it when we moved, was nowhere near as good as yours though.

As always Matt's talking sence! Another point is that without proper training you can not get business insurance, if you make a balls up in this game and not insured they will crucify you. There's loads of part time chancers out there saying they are insured through basc or such like but they aren't as it's not for profit or gain.

Well done that man! Is the permission air rifle only?

C hall, obviously don't know where you worked but the two I worked in we made great money, and of course the bonus of cheap meat usually from the on site shop! You will need to be able to take a bit of stick as they are pretty rough places to work, a lot of the work is on bonus or was and anyone slowing the line gets told about it, but it is worth staying in there.

If your slaughtering you won't need a boneing knife you will need a skinner and knife with a blade about six inches that's pretty stiff. It's unlikely you would be put on sticking early on, if its sheep you will be gutting and taking out the pluck for ages, if It's cows you'll be skinning heads and taking out tongues, if It's the latter I suggest you kill yourself now,lol The two places I did it you got a travelling rep come round regularly to buy hear off. As with anything though the more you pay the better your gear, edge retention is everything unless you want to spend precious breaks get

Are you sure that they will give it to you even if you go down this road? They must surely know that you are unable to work because of a disability so they could refuse on safety grounds anyway! Out of curiosity what sort of disability? If it still allows you to trap moles and go boar and deer stalking? But leaves you unable to work.

Up until now it would definitely be the mk1 rapid! But I have some rather nice rifles here at the mo and most of them would probably do everything that rapid did, I am probably looking back with rose tinted glasses as I owned it during the period I consider to be the best time of my life.

There is a beautiful new regal in the gun room at Ivybridge at the mo with a very light coloured stock, it has a very distinctive burr/ knot that really sets it off. Even now I keep thinking should I have chosen that one.

Oops Pigeon Fever Strikes Again !
mole trapper replied to luckyplum's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
Went to one of my rat contracts yesterday and They were bailing up the straw, the lines above the fields were bowing under the weight of pigeons! Never seen them like that down here before. Bugger is I can't get back there for a couple of days as I have so much work on. -
The bloke is obviously a Dick Willy waving! Completely the wrong attitude especially as if is ment to be a mentor to someone just setting out.

Withdrawn cheers

Bought one of these yesterday as I had heard mainly good things about them, got a .22 overall very pleased with how the afternoon getting to know it went, bit more pellet fussy than I was expecting. Went with ftt,s in the end as they were doing 10mm groups at 30mts or smaller every time which gave me enough confidence in it to take it out on a paid job. First shot 26mts straight between the eyes, literally knocked the rabbit over backyard! Went on like that till it got dark, then I changed over to the ultra because it has the n550 on board. Very pleased with the 100, especially in the .22,ma
