    A lad of here slipped one of my dogs for me he had walked four large fields and I had moved two more fields over from where they had left me, He slipped the dog it lost its quarry after a chase, we were watching from a good vantage point with binoculars it then set off running across 6 large fields at full tilt and came directly to where I was no ground trail followed apparently , could have been wind born scent dont know but even after a long course they always return even if you have moved.     i understand the original idea was to have Area representatives from all over GB and Eire to act as local contact points. These Reps can either be nominated or put themselves forward for these Posts. A steering/Guidance Committee was nominated to draft an Agenda and Code of Conduct for the proposed association. The initial drafts have been prepared and now we as potential members are now awaiting the information releases as and when the Steering Committee are ready .     A working dog and its handler to my mind are a partnership it has to be built on mutual trust and confidence in each others abilities and capabilities.     I find that with salukis its far easier to get the bonding as part of a pack. In our environment we have extended families and our salukis are part of that extended family. We find the dogs will usually select a family member as their property and attach themselves to them. Here I have four Three bitches and a dog the dog owns me,he wont even run for anyone only me. The bitches are obedient to me when working but at home two of them prefer the company of my Wife and Daughter the youngest bitch hasnt made her mind up yet.who she owns lol.     Go back to years gone bye and even still in some places. My families salukis when bred once up and about roam around at will with the pack chewing things, digging just being pups when they are 5/6 months old they often go off with tthe bitch and chase what ever they can find, seen similar with the old time greyhound breeders over in Ireland litters of well bred pups running around feral chewing rusty barbed wire and rusting farm implements chasing chickens ducks basically anything that move , this is all natural, I would not even think about starting serious graft with any dog till they are m

    People friendly publicity is a basic requirement, to promote country activities An example Plenty of lads on here are into the rabbiting pass time, using ferrets, dogs, shooting,lamping etc, lots have permission and seem to bag fair numbers on a day or nights outing. Why not get around some of the older folk in your areas , the ones who will have had plenty of rabbit stews and pies etc in bye gone days, find out which of them would like a brace of dressed rabbits for a weekend roast.
