My lad hunts the high moors with a lad that owns Lakeys that are bred with a lot of working heritage behind them,nothing like the boxy,short coupled mutts that the majority see as Lakeys now,higher on the leg,narrower and far more workmanlike in conformation and nature.I know of him,my lad works his Beddy mongrels with him and im hoping that one of his next litter comes my way.I cannot point where im not invited.

The Lakey is certainly on the decline as a grafter,shows,dollar and the internet.Its easy a enough to source a pup and spend £450 doing so,that seems to be the price now,id not own one of these high priced frauds that masquerade as Lakeys.The genuine type is hard to come by,they are there if you look hard and you certainly need to look hard.

You typify everything i find issue with now and what folk accept as standard practice.The standards now began to be diluted with the advent of the ribbon chasers and they bred terriers to suit,the work ethic slipped as the price of the terrier rose.The biggest nail in the coffin was not the Governments ill advised and prejudiced ban but the rise of the Internet and the folk that found a new and captive audience to vent their ego and sell their internet inspired wares.The only reason i keep my fluffy mongrels is because i want to work them the way they were bred to work,i want to enjoy a day in

Or a Beddy fan that still recognises the fact that a bolting terrier is far more useful than a digging terrier,especially in places that cannot be dug.On average how long would you say it takes to dig to a terrier?ill warrant that many a time it will take far longer for a terrier to bolt its fox,season after season,i realise many a fox will bolt as soon as it realises a terriers near etc.,but i feel that i can cover more ground and shift more gear with a bolter rather than a digging terrier and thus find them to be a more superior hunting companion.If that keeps me at odds with some on here i

The reason many a mutt pulls up with strains,tears and toe damage is because the owners expect them to sprint before they have been conditioned to do so.the average lurcher is owned by a lazy barsteward that cannot be arsed to condition a mutt to cope with a day in the field and they have no concept of conditioning.

All they will do is part you from your hard earnt dollar,Any Deerhound first cross is a waste of a futile gallop.The only decent Deerhound lurchers are generations lurcher bred,find one of these and you will never kennel anything else,find a modern KC Deerhound bred lurcher and you will soon realise why folk no longer recognise them as useful.

Again there is no such animal as a pure Beddy,never was and never will be,there is a type of terrier that conforms to the breed that a few of us recognise as a Bedlington and breed towards,the KC feckwits and a few dross KC kennels have their own outlook on the breed,again a few fecking resolute diehards don,t recognise these as the type we seek as Bedlingtons.The average digging terrier is rescued far earlier than a couple of hours and it rescues the majority of them from ridicule,a decent bolting terrier will often be at the coal face for far longer than a dug to jukel and i expect mine to

£4 a pint,id have died of thirst.The very first beer festival i frequented it was 50p reserve a glass,an airfield in Oxenhope with DLT as a DJ about 1977,i staggered back to Haworth pissed and about £30 in the pocket,not bad as i sneaked in potless,i could,nt believe the folk that failed to safeguard their glass.
