  1. Never found a magic up there,if you wanted magics a trip around Ponden Res and you soon filled a bag, possibly why the hippy commune up there was so busy, full of laughter to boot.As i said there where that many rabbits densely populating the area terriers bagged up on squatters.I walked the walls with a marking lurcher and ferret and had over 20 rabbits from the walls around one field, another time with 3 mates,1 lurcher,2 ferrets and 3 shotguns we made 3 trips back to the motor carrying the catch,24 of which were alive in a pigeon basket for a touch of re-stocking,ill not say how many we had th
  2. None,at the time the land was crawling with rabbits and any lurcher with a nose picked squatter after squatter off its seat. Not to long after they lamped and shot over 2,000 rabbits in one season off there.
  3. I caught over 60 with one lurcher on a tussocky hillside above Grassington, just to get that into perspective i caught 11 with a terrier on the same land.
  4. Its a KC bloodline,as in most Bedlingtons the gutchcommon working element was bred out of them years ago in the pursuit of ribbon and dollar, its a bloodline thats in most Bedlingtons and one that serious folk try damned hard to breed away from.
  5. Lurcher does,nt.Seriously though its about knowing the dogs you feed,at times 2 terriers will enter. Its been covered enough on here, many frown on it i take it as acceptable practice and as long as it keeps getting results, without strife, then ill carry on doing the same.
  6. Why?,i wrote it slowly for the folk that don,t think to fast.
  7. SShhhh, leave them following the mounted packs and the rest of us will make do with whats left.Hows the sapling panning out?.
  8. As i don,t hunt in the company or range of any mounted pack i cannot possibly answer that,if you know of one that wishes to borrow a Beddy and get the horse and hounds about Yorkshires industrial heritage then give me a shout, ill warrant its been a century or more since a pack in full voice, followed by crimson clad Henry and Henrietta,s,thundered past Kirkstall Abbey.
  9. Apologies for hijacking your thread, hopefully picking through it will give you a small insight into what a Bedlington is capable of,good luck with the pups and enjoy what you expect from them and take no heed of what others expect from theirs.
  10. Lets be really honest,i and my lad push fox, after fox after fox out of cover 2 or 3 times a week, for season after season. The least would be a couple a session and that regularly goes into double figures,we may drive to several locations in the day and find a fox or two in many of them,or walk the high Fells and often find far less, yet find. The most educated fox is easy enough to be found by any ratching about jukel,a dedicated pack fares a tad better and the fox that flees fastest leaves the same scent and trail a a slacker, again my mutts search for a scent, follow a scent and pressure the fox
  11. No matter how versatile a terrier is,especially at other disciplines, its not a terrier,at least to me,unless it as the ability to graft below as well as it does above. What sets the Bedlington standard for me is the ability to graft above and keep up with the chase, pursue it to an extent that the fox is persuaded to seek sanctuary below because its been pressed,by the terrier, into doing so.Without the speed and determination of the pursuer many a fox will play with anything in its wake and sit comfortably espying the sluggish chaser. Many a dawdling fox made the mistake of running slower than it
  12. Find yourself a collie infused lurcher, get it up to spec with obedience, stock trainining,re-call and retrieve, bond with the fecking thing and get it into bunny,s when its about 8 months of age,a few months later, when it can keep up with you and navigate the gates, walls and fences in the dark then get a decent lamp and switch it on.Lamping is the easiest of things to get a mutt skilled at,as long as the mush holding the leash as some lamping nous.Don,t panic if you are new to the lamp and lurcher,a collie infused mongrel will learn you a few lessons and the initial mistakes you make in the lamp
  13. Str,you state that any terrier could do what a Beddy does,i like my Lakey/Fells,ive owned a few black terriers, russels and a mutt or two of pedigree unknown and all of them i entered to the ratching about and making the most of their terrier drive and instinctive hunting nature, some better than others.Ive yet to see a terrier of any other description, mine or others, graft at the pace and functionality of the Beddy.Ive yet to find another terrier that could navigate walls, fences, rivers and terrain in the way the Beddy does and keep up with the chase. They are more athletic, more agile and more up
  14. I don,t like to kill much now,yet hate a jukel that cannot kill,id rather see them run away to be hunted again, the fecking mutts have an habit of ruining my sepia lensed hunting lifestyle, age as an habit of softening the hardest of hunting hearts.
  15. My lad lost a very good dog before he was 3,i lost his niece before she was 16 months of age,id have used his nephew at stud as soon as he could cover a bitch.Ive yet to find a replacement for the bitch, the nephew is over 3 years of age and i cannot source anything, the same wayish bred ,worth is tatty water. He will be put over a Wheaton x next year and she,s a young bitch.Use them before you lose the breeding at times.
  16. Was and the reason i rate bedlingtons is heavily influenced by what she brought to the table, everything i and my lad own is heavily influenced by her and not the Fell influence,as some would have you believe. The two main terriers my lad owns are as honest as they come below ground but don,t get to use the versatility the Bedlington is famed for,i have a young pup here now, about 9 months, that is tearing up the countryside and is marking walls, warrens and trees, will hunt a bunny and push it out of any cover and then to ground, will follow an hare for field after field and yippity, yippity up hill
  17. She was rarely dug to yet worked 3 or 4 times a week, shifted a useful amount of fox, above and below and grafted to a decent standard for 8 seasons, she was also the most versatile of terriers and managed to become a competent ferreting companion,a ratting terrier of sublime ability, marked a tree and you could guarantee a squirrel was in residence, mullered the odd mink she found on our summer meanderings along the waterways, shifted more deer from their haunts than most and still managed to fit in time to knack the odd feral, she became hard gummed chewing hedgehogs-i hate dogs killing hedgehogs-w
  18. I ventured forth for a line out of an all singing ,dancing, running and superlative line of Deerhoundy mongrels, the fecking dog could not jump the first gate it encounterd.
  19. Are you for real?any fecking terrier bred half right will enter, the fecking owner often recognises the fecking fact that only feckwits and nuggets enter pups to do an adult terriers graft. So if its bred right it will enter left?what a fecking twat you are.
  20. Who the feck entered a terrier at 8 months of age?Thats the fecking nuggets now that we are expected to consider as terrier folk.
  21. I lived for lurchers,i spent the majority of my life hurting racey mongrels and making them earn their corn,i destroyed a mutt or 7 in my pursuit of a long fecking chaser,i even went to Scotland to further my ambition, cheers Mik,the only lad id give a blow job.Ive spent more time than most in the pursuit of a dirty fecking mongrel that could run,run a tad longer and kill anything that interrupted its ambition, few folk on here have ever owned runners id feed and the majority on this site have the ambition of a newt that cannot swim.I used to hunt lurchers that could hunt, lurchers that could ear
  22. Why?,they allready know more than me or anyfecker else, its fecking impossible to educate a turd.Ive offered more assistance to some than most, most know more and are happier in their bullshit nirvana.Benefit from my experience?,the fecking nuggets on here would fail to count to ten without taking their fecking socks off.
  23. Location Manchester, there is more chance of you knowing about a lurcher than the nuggets in the north east,my missus is far more masculine than the average twat on here, ill warrant your lugs became agitated when i wrote twat.
