Its rarely the dog thats thick, its the other end of the lead where the problems arise.

Still a youngster, basic training and entering, iron out the faults and the dog should develop and show its worth,if all else fails, wheelie bin.

Owned a terrier before lurchers, mooched about ratting, ferreting etc.,eventually the dog dropped to ground and things went from them first experiences, dropped the terriers and stuck to runners for a while, realised the runners get more sport with a terrier or 2 in tow. -
A jacket offers a certain amount of protection,an extra barrier that is usefull when the dogs running through cover, its also better insulated against cold and rain,a wet rough coat still holds warmth when a dogs stood about waiting for action.Ive rarely seen a dog with a dense coat suffer the elements as dogs with lesser jackets often do.Then there is the advantage, especially in todays political climate, that a shaggy jukel often passes under the radar and draws less attention than a mutt that looks more of a runner.

The majority of lurchers bred are on a whim, the owner is unsure when, why and how to source or choose the right dog to breed from or with, they own a dog, that to them is a worthy cause, they seldom are and then breed for breedings sake.If in doubt don,t breed, you will just be adding to the endless puppy bandwagon that new owners are to eager to jump on.Experience is the best educater, but beware the more experienced about where the education was wasted. That's what you call kennel blind, I'm not kennel blind iv seen some bad some average and some great dogs, and I know the difference and I kn

That is called Poaching. It is also clearly unlawful under the terms of the Hunting Act as you did not have the permission of the landowner. The presence of a footpath means you have the right to pass and re-pass, nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps worse is the irreparable damage actions like this do to legitimate lurcherwork/ferreting. A couple of my mates have permission around that area and there are some lads who PAY to shoot on certain farms in that valley. The fact that some people have spent over 20 years gaining the trust of landowners in the Dales who are now understandably sick

Not trying to be cute here lad, but, you need certain smarts to venture onto unknown land in a new location, some of your questions are leading me to believe you may not,as yet, be ready to undertake such an adventure, cut your teeth local to home, learn the ropes a tad more and then venture forth.

One way in and out there, several prosecutions a year around that quarry, the quarry owns very little of the land worth working a dog on,the farmers that own the rest are sick of lurchermen, especially lampers. If you want to lamp the Dales then use some smarts, park in a town or village were the motor won,t stand out, take a walk with the dogs, drop everything off with a minder, back to the motor and retreive the goods.Or take a day knocking doors and take the risk factor out of the equation. you cant think i was being serious? them farmers cant be that sick of ferreters then, eveen gave them a

Why do you think everyone wants to hit the Dales now?,they read posts on here about bagging up on bunny,s there, sites of large numbers of scutters hung over gates, they work land were on a good night they may get 3 or 4 runs, then decide to go were they think the rabbiting is easier and safer, some will get results, some will get their day at Skipton magistrates.

The lurchers that ive used at rat tended to bite harder on other things, handy at times but bunny,s were wrecked and dripping.

They do that on purpose to give the crowd enough time to get back and forth to the bar without missing too much of the game! You'd spill your tray of 4 pints everywhere is you had to rush back to your seat scared of missing the action, common sense really! Possibly, especially with the prices charged at some of the union grounds,Pimms and G and T,s are beyond the wallet of the average League fan. Take it you've never been to a union match in Wales then? Only at a place i could,nt even pronounce, the beer was pish,as is usual in Wales, the company was 1st class and the banter better,as is

A survey was done recently, sponsored by union,to show the realitys of the game, they tried to hide the results, but it was leaked,in an average union game the ball was in play for an average of 38 minutes a match,in League it was 68 minutes.Does that mean the attention span of a league fan is far superior to the watchers of the other code,or,the other code knew no better until Wigan in the Union 7,s destroyed all in front of them, and awoke a slumbering crowd, that was otherwise starved of rugby.
-
Fantastic result for league at the time, problem was union realised how far behind league they really where and then started to poach first our conditioners and offensive and defensive coaches, then our players. The only reason England finally won the union world cup was because of Phil Larder,ex Keighley Cougar,as a defensive coach,we won the cup on defence,Larder and not offence, the Hooray that got knighted because of Larders input.Since then Union as beat a path to league for defence and offence coaches,Ford,Larder,Kelly,Farrel,Edwards etc.etc.

Dont matter as long as we win the proper rugby ive played both codes and when you've played a season of league you then know which is proper rugby (it aint union ) Its usually the league players, when they can,t cut the grade anymore in league, defect to union,Robinson being the exception,Union players rarely cut the cloth in League, the public schoolboy education and lack of gonads for a game that lasts for minutes and allows for few time outs,as in Union, sorts the wheat from the hooray henry,s. Not many fecking hooray Henry rugger buggers this side of the Severn! League used to b
