    My bushers sometimes connect,realisticly that is not their purpose especially as most of what they connect with would not be fit to eat.To me the point in owning a busher is for it to put things in front of a gun or more capable catcher.

    I work a lot of tight dense cover,only the smallest bushers are able to work this ground and push the quarry into more desirable locations.

    Modern technology became the advent of poorer bred terriers and fickle ownership,as others have stated there as always been poor terrierfolk and poor breeding,modern technology gives them the edge they needed.

    If you add Collie to a lurcher do they all round up sheep,Saluki and they can only run on sand,Bedlington and they only work at Crufts,etc,etc,etc.When adding anything to lurcher breeding you breed for the desired traits from both parents,educate accordingly and look further than the first litter,the next stage of the breeding plan,or the one after,may bear the fruit of the original breeding.The majority of tried,tested and productive lurcher development was undertaken by some with a little more vision than the Dinosaurs.

    Many,many years ago i watched an Hound trail above Brough,25 miles,through binoculars i watched the full extent of the nights activity,them fecking hounds set out panting and finished panting at the same speed,they made Salukis look second rate,i still cannot fathom why i never put the Foxhound into my Lurcher breeding,nose,wind,desire and attitude,i may have been colour blinded,i detest coloured lurchers,yet them Foxhounds have far more to offer than the majority of what is in the mix with many Lurchers.

    One thing i realised a long time ago,get a lurcher into the same condition and breeding of the average Foxhound and your nearly there,the rest is choice.

    Id have one of them and reap the rewards,that would possibly be my idyll bunny bashing,ferreting and pot filling hound.Im a little reluctant to let go of the bigger bruisers,yet i know at some time i want another honest jukel that will do what that breeding does,until then?.

    If you want a small bunny dog id source a Beddy/Whippet or a Whippet/Grey that throws to the Whippet heritage,even a Whippet if you can knit it a warm jacket.

    The ONLY working Bedlingtons are Fell infused,thats terrier work below the turf and not terrier work to soothe the Ego,s that have crawled into the Beddy world to earn a dollar,i whole heartedly agree that Working Bedlingtons are like hens teeth,thats a reality that many have yet to grasp.The only honest foray into Working Beddy ownership is through the hybrid route,they graft and look more like the original than any of the powder puff KC frauds that masquerade as WORKING TERRIERS.

    I don,t believe in ghosts and all the nonsense that goes with it.One night lamping alone i came off some fields and walked down a lane to get to my next location,as i made my way down the lane i heard footsteps behind me,i walked into the hedgerow and waited whilst they passed me,the footsteps stopped,i started walking again and the footsteps started,i shone the lamp up the lane and zilch,again i made my way and the footsteps started again,lamp on and again zilch,this happened a few times more.I stood for over 10 minutes with the lamp in hand waiting to twat the sneaky fecker to no avail,event

    I once owned two litter mate brothers,Whippet/Grey x Saluki,both stood at about 23",speed,agility and stamina to burn,mullered hares with a vengeance,their reluctance at re-call and retrieve tested my patience far to often,thus their exit,geez they had some wind.

    With any litter of Bedlingtons there is the possibility of the odd oversized un,touch wood ive yet to encounter it,working bred Bedlingtons usually throw a more honest working size than the majority of dross bred and advertised as "Working Bred".

    What would you be hoping to get from the mating that the Beddy or Spaniel cannot offer?.If you wish to utilise the abilities of both dam and sire the progeny should make for more than useful bushing companions,id not dock them. i have a granitor bred bedlington bitch 14" to the shoulder was thinking of putting my mates cocker dog over her both 100% bushing dogs... was just wondering if anybody has any pics/experience of dogs bred the same way and would they need to be docked etc..... cheers james

    We don,t always have to agree,otherwise this forum would be to sterile,we all hunt differently and with a different purpose,at times.Many would cull a badger like that as its to educated and dangerous,an educated badger as got the better of the best of terriers,i read that in a book. Why would anybody destroy such a badger and how would it be dangerous?Who ever wrote that book Morton must have bad dogs if he said the educated badger got the better of the best of dogs.As for pushing the dog to the limit,I thought it more a way of finding out the good from the mediocre.The good one was kept

    To big a club and far to big a fan base to lie down and surrender,this from an Everton supporter.The trouble with liverpool over the last few years is how they have been managed and the emphasis on ''star players'' that have failed to shine,Gerrard to often,Skertel,Sturridge and the over rated Sterling,while they have relied on players like this that Alonso and Suarez carried,they have stagnated,get rid of Sterling and spend the brass on some Championship players with Carraghers heart.Phoenix club.

    Plenty of Anti,s have lurchers and terriers.Seriously why give a toss,as soon as they start calling you,you know they have lost the argument.As this is a working dog site you need to grow a thicker skin at times and go with the flow,or let it get to you.
