I come across wire on a daily basis, especially when hunting,i find it imperative that the runners can hurdle wire,at speed, without hesitation, otherwise they will attempt to go under or through it.When a dog hurdles wire there may at times be accidents, when a dog tries to go through or under, there will be far,far more accidents awaiting.

My bushers are often heavy manned, what they catch in tight cover is often beyond worthwhile retrieval, anything flushed is often beyond their remit, sadly ive yet to make them understand the folly of their endeavour,at times.3 terriers and a fallow don,t add up,unless?. Yes, I can see that if you've got 3 terriers all piling into something it's not going to be fit for much by the time they're done Because I've only got the one it isn't an issue for me. Only one,i remember such times and the euphoria, alas i became a greedy busher and went from retrieving the remains of Bugs Bunny to

If a dog ever retrieved everything it bushed it would be 3 times bigger than a Kelpie, unless Gulliver owned and utilised it.

Id never own a busher with catch and retrieve in mind,id never breed one for such, they are a tool to aid and assist the catchers, killers and retrievers. At times the bushers catch, whats left is not worth retrieving.Saying that a bushing terrier i have at hand as caught 2 fox,s this time, after pushing them from thick cover, that i find beneficial,if it was anything less id be a tad miffed.I also had a busher that hung on regardless over a field,2 fences and a wall whilst a Roe buck attempted its escape,it made a warming casserole, the Deer was not bad either .

Id never own a busher with retrieval in mind, why?,they are there to bush for the catchers and retrievers, they may hang on and rag the odd flush, yet thats never their purpose.

I want a sapling to have as much of an advantage as i can possibly give it,thus i await a kick-up before a longer slip,if that means going home without giving the dog a slip so be it,another night ill get my ideal run.The majority of dogs will not suffer from a few misses and wasted slips, yet building early confidence in the mutt always pays dividends.Once the dog is educated a little better id still pick easier runs, again it always pays dividends,a little later in the season id still not slip at 50yds when an easier slip is over the horizon.By the seasons end id expect the dog to deal with an

He's talking about the dogs very first night out lamping rabbits If you had a young dog on a slip and is sighted of a rabbit 50 yards away do you slip it yes or no, Id never release a young dog on anything i was not kicking up in front of it,literally.Rabbits take little catching for a second rate jukel, unless the jukel is young and inexperienced and the bunny is up to speed,a bunny up to speed dodges the attention of the best bred youngster, especially 50 yds away.

It is for a rabbit.

Its seldom i quote on a "whats mine look like",because the majority of the time id only insult them, that looks a useful mutt.

Love the look of that dog willow, have gotta get my act together and get another busher coz it's just too much for my one on her own as quite often in large pieces of cover she gets the run around, she gets lucky every now and then but could probably add a few more with another dog helping her out. atb daywalker.I found the same thing in areas of large cover so started working him in better more manageable areas far more productive for him and the lurcher When you take a bushing jukel out,it has to be able to work the land it enters, all of the time, not the land it can work, some of the time

If its taken you 6 months to get the re-call right it will take you 27 years to cover the rest of its education,it won,t be around then mucker, speed up the education process and get the initial slips down to a few easier yards, your input is negating the dogs ability, gen up mucker.

If i ever come across a fox thats a good challenge for a lurcher i should shoot the lurcher, they are pish for a 12lb terrier to deal with,a decent sized lurcher should account for them without hesitation, should, the best lurcher ive ever owned would not look at a fox yet she kept me engaged for many a season, they are pish as a lurcher challenge, usually.a terrier doesn't have to course a fox round a field and then do its job at the end of it all seen some big old dog fox's put time into lurchersNo it does not,yet it often as to dig on and spend more time at the sharp end than any worthwhile lurc

The dog looks ok to me,photo,s are seldom a true reflection of the cur,if your not happy put more scran in the mutts dish.

In reality smaller is not what you require.

In all honesty what could you get from a sapling trial?only the basics, any half bred mongrel will show basics at 18 months of age,few of them will show anything like their breeding until at least their second season, the best of mutts seldom come into their own until they have had at least 3 seasons under them.Ill agree that a youngster may show promise at 18 months, promise is often a veil many mutts hide assunder. I suppose it depends what has been said of the dog. It's a bit of a blind area for me as I have never bought an adult running dog. If i'd been told that it was just

Or realise early doors you have a pile of,then work it into a mush Southern bred, dumb feckers the further South you sell them.

My tuppence worth, all the decent coursing bred stock that is thieved ends up where?is then bred from? then as a dubious pedigree? then is the source of many of the top bred pups available?.
