  1. What's wrong with Wather's LGV Competition Ultra? Anyone care to enlighten me?
  2. It's got to be him mate. It has his brand of self-destructive lunacy and bullshit all over it. He still lives in the fantasy of strolling the African plains like a Great White Hunter. Those days are long gone and only wardens and poachers carry rifles there now.
  3. Great vid and great shooting again old pal. NOW, for your next epic, you need to show us mere mortals how to hit rabbits with a moving shot. Don't, whatever you do, fire still and aimed shots. They are crap! YOU MUST KEEP THE RIFLE MOVING...LIKE A SHOTGUN ON A CLAY!!!
  4. Give it a go and let you know what I think? Okay then 'Trev'. This is a genuine post isn't it? Shooting freehand? Really? As a spring rifle shooter I agree with you about using freehand. It's just the complete and utter bullshit the rest of the thread is made up of, I have a problem with. It's all lies and crap! You are taking the piss aren't you! I've edited out my long-winded explanations as to why you are full of crap. I rather think the gentlemen of this forum would rather love you to go on digging a deeper hole explaining why I'm wrong, you are right and you can prove every wo
  5. HW80 .22 spring rifle. Absolutely beautiful to shoot.
  6. Thank you Chris. It has been a pleasure to write it and for excellent shooters like you to have referred to it as a guide to improving your shooting is the highest compliment of all. It's had tens of thousands of views. It's for the MODS to pin it now. Thank you so much again my dear friend. Simon Edited to add. I was out tonight with my HW77 .22 and use these very principles as a matter of reflex and instinct now. I bagged four good rabbits and a couple of Woodpigeon for an OAP Home I give my shot game to. They get a good, tasty meal, I keep my farmer friends happy and I get
  7. Give him a call and the man himself will tell you. I'm sure he can!
  8. Simon please don't lie on an open forum to make yourself look good to everyone else. Everyone knows you can't shoot 189 rabbits, 13 squirrels and 103 pigeons with a spring rifle in one year! Lmfao But I too was wondering what makes a hunter a 'pro hunter' is it the fact they drive round with big guns looking for caged animals to be realised and shot for no other reason than to have one in their living room and not on the discovery channel? This could get interesting, atb guys AWWWW LEWIS!! YOU'VE TUMBLED ME!!! Your right Lewis I made it all up. ALL my shooting is done with a PCP
  9. Ahh PRO HUNTER stupid bugger me! I'm a little confused by your post though. One minute I was reading the life of a great white hunter, stalking and running-line buck shooting in South Africa next minute I'm reading about pinging a poor bloody fox with an air rifle.... Hmmm :hmm: :hmm:
  10. 189 Rabbits 13 Squirrels 105 woodpidgeon and more to come before this summer's over. A few rats round the Wheat and Barley stores. All shot this year with my dearly beloved HW77 .22 tuned and fettled with kit from the great Tony Wall and installed by AndyFR1968 here. And one Fox....courtesy of a rather nice and cheerful CZ .22LR and Bushnell Scopechief 4-14x50mm AO. Great gear and more than a little idea matey! Now, pray tell, what is a PH?
  11. Wow that's a surprise valboskie! Would you care to elaborate what was wrong with your LGV Competition Ultra? This was a rifle Wurz and I thought was going to be a world beater for spring rifle competition shooting. Well, you won't be disappointed with the TX200 I'm certain, whatever pellet it happens to favour. Pianoman
  12. GOOD! Now I won't have to worry about you contesting that beautiful HW97K you've just traded in the spring rifle class, October 13th HFT meet at Old downs! You can shoot all you like with this thing! Seriously Rob, well done mate, it looks a cracking rifle..... For a PCP
  13. My .177 TX200HC is very fussy. She will not accurately group any pellet so far tried, but AIR ARMS FIELD 4.51. With these she's absolutely superbly accurate. With AA FIELD in 4.52 or even JSB EXACT 4.51mm =the nearest similar pellet in the same headsize, she'll spit them all over the target. You can pretty much forget trying the rest.
  14. What Hawke model scope are you using on your HW80 JJM? It's not fair or true to say they are all duff scopes for spring rifles . These Sidewinder scopes sound terrific. Not yet used one so, I cannot hold opinion on them. But I do have three Hawke scopes that are no trouble at all, so far. I have a little Hawke Sport HD 3-9x40 (3015 model serial.) which I use on my HW77 and it's proving to be a fantastic little scope. The Hawke Panorama 4-12x50 IR AO EV I use on my HW97K competition rifle is just brilliant. But these, I have to admit are my newest scopes and less than a year old. I'll
  15. Can't complain about this group Si. Well shot mate! About as good as a .22 air rifle can be Really nice looking job on the Hamster too Roger! Edited to add: What head size FTT .22 are you using here Si? Best wishes. Simon
  16. Given that Weihrauch barrels are slightly choked, a hard, unyielding metal pellet, unlike lead is not good for them. Is there recorded hard, unyielding evidence that lead air rifle pellets have caused environmental harm of any sort. Other than damage caused by careless shooting ?
  17. The best WTC of all in my view, was the Simmons Whitetail Classic 4.5-14x40 AO Supernightview scope with a graphite coating. Absolutely superb optics but these were built with Truplex 30/30 reticles. That said, for an HW80 they are one of the best scopes going. I have two and one of them is on my FAC .22 HW80. It stays on zero against the quite considerable recoil forces this rifle metes out. The best thing would be to look for one on the 2nd hand market as this scope is no longer made. It'll cost you £100 but it cost £230 + when new and they last years. Mine are 15 years old and as good
  18. No woodsman Jim you are not sir. I must confess, I'm Andy's mate that had three Hawke's go west with using them on spring rifles. I had a Hawke Eclipse which was destroyed by my FAC HW80 in a morning on its first zeroing session. . A Hawke 6-18x42 AIRMAX SR12 went kaput within 18 months of using it on my HW77 which is also tuned and has very little felt recoil. It would not zero no matter how I tried to repair and correct. The 3rd and last was a Hawke Endurance (there's a contradiction in terms!) 3-9x42 IR 30 costing over £230 which, on my TX200HC .177 came apart, with the comp
  19. ACE!! Cheers Andy. PM on its way pal!
  20. You won't be disappointed with the HC in .177. Superlatives not necessary.
  21. Speaking of which, you were missed too mate. All well Phil?
  22. There is no right to bear arms in modern Scotland; is the thinking of a cretin, considering the revenues generated by Highland deer stalking and shooting licences alone in the Scottish economy... But that's exactly what the idiots are thinking. Armed Revolution. The thinking in political circles now has moved from governance to control of the poplace. Not so much the fear of a mass armed uprising against the Islamification of Britain or foreign immigrant overun. But more particularly, and very likely possible, the collapse of the UK economy. Because if and when interest rates g
  23. Might have a wander out to my gunshop too...... Just a look and a fondle you understand....
  24. The HW98 is a very nice rifle to shoot indeed DD. I have shot with Si Pittaway's '98 at Old Downs a few months ago and it was a beautiful handling, sweet shooting rifle and very accurate indeed. I am a complete nut for Weihrauch rifles and the underlever HW77 and HW97 I have are just the best pair I've ever owned yet. Yet, somehow...the HW98 is calling me too.... ..........
