The Hlf Davids Versus The Hft Goliaths (Meet 3 At Odp).
pianoman replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Aaron you won't regret switching your 97s KT thumbhole for a sporter stock. I swapped my 97KTH for Skot's 97 Bavarian sporter stock and it's turned it at a stroke into a bloody sweet handling rifle for it. And the classical "Tartan" diamond cut chequering is beautiful. But now, I'm really having a genuine quandry as to what to shoot in the comp. Both my HW97K .177 and HW77 .22 are now refined by Andy and Tony Wall's magic and bits. And now, they shoot their very best I've known of them yet. I held my .177 TX200HC in awe for its accuracy but, now, these two Germans are thrashing its -
Depends on how you define mint condition; plus the quality of the scope and silencer too, but, I'd guess about £200 to £300 as a rough estimate for the whole ensemble. I have to agree with Smithie though and your friend is a kind person indeed. Worthy of more consideration than crude valuations of his/her kindness.

I'll bet Little Hunter would like a little shot with this new bad boy Mac. Then again, you might not get it off him! Nice one mate. Hope it works out well for you Simon

Crow Sport 22 With Stunning Wall Nut Stock

Me too! Hope the exchange works out for you Mac Simon -
Generally, .22 heavyweight pellets like Magnums, AA Field Plus or JSB Exact Jumbos don't perform well from spring rifles in this calibre. There might be exceptions, but, as I say, in .22 calibre, sub-12ft/lb Weihrauch spring rifles are, generally, best with a 14 to 16 grain weight pellet. They tend to go off the accuracy scale when you start using a hefty .22 pellet over these weights. .177 has more likelyhood of success though. I have found the .177 Bisley Magnums to be very accurate in my .177 HW97K. But they are heavy and thus are a slower flier which, robs you of the advantage of .1

David James who posts youtube vids under the name Hunters vermin shoots an HW97KT with Bisley magnums as the pellet of his choice for that rifle.

You have two of the best spring rifles in the world as far as I'm concerned. Nothing beats the HW77. Best of any rifle I've ever owned. I have a special bit of magic worked into my HW77 .22 and .177 HW97K. Both have kits made for me by Tony Wall and installed by a very skilled gunsmithing pal of mine here. The HW98 is a superb rifle but, I'm thinking of an HW80 tuned by the great man as my next rifle project. Simon

These are seriously good scores. Well done everyone! Rob is a fine shot I know from when I was at the last Old Downs meet. Gonna have to look to our Laurels for the next time I'm there with my HW97K then! Simon the Pianoman

Her indoors has neither the place or the right to be telling you what you can't and can have. Buy the rifle and add it to your collection. Never sell now't to please a woman. She'll respect you for it I promise you! -
Good to see you've got the enthusiasm going for you Daz mate. Mac and Vizlauk will keep you fired up alright and you look as though you are really enjoying the experiences. Hopefully one day we'll have the pleasure of your company with us at one of the meet-ups at Old Down pursuits shooting ground or some place where a THL weekend meet will be happening.. In the meantime, don't give up trying to get that all-important first permission and keep us posted how you are getting on. Great to read of your adventures so far All the very best for your shooting. Simon

He's good! Uses a Weihrauch HW97KT on Bisley Magnums in the vids I've seen of his!

H&N Field & Target Trophy. My HW97K .177 loves these in 4.50 headsize. Give Bisley Magnum a try too. HW97s in .177 seem to shoot well with these aswell.

See what Chairgun can do for it, too Andy. There is a Map-6 reticle set-up on there. I swore by it for my SR12 reticle scope

We had a blistering great day target shooting while testing and running-in new kit Andy eh! We were just doing what some certain PCP shooters would say was impossible with a sub-12 ft/lbs .22 springer and a .20 HW90 gas ram. Shooting a series of Coke and pop bottle tops, hitting them edge-side on from 30 yards-zero out to 60 yards, off fence posts with simple 30/30 and Map-6 reticle scopes. Nothing flash. Just honest good straight shooting with quality rifles and scopes and the right ammo. And a stiff breeze to boot! Great to see your scope is performing as it should pal! I'm mor

Opinions On The Hammerli Black Force 800
pianoman replied to K.A.G's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Sorry. No they are not sir. You say you have shot with two different HW80s? I get the impression you did not own these rifles but simply had a shot or two with them? I've owned several HW80s over the years since they first came out; including my current FAC .22 HW80 (21.4 Ft/lbs) and an HW80K .22 also on my FAC and they have never been less than beautiful to shoot with, at either end of the power spectrum. Their accuracy and consistent performance at all power levels is amazing. But I'm a spring rifle man and as such, I know a bit about shooting with these. I'm planning on another HW80 st -
The four rifles I currently own as listed below. I honestly couldn't ask for more accuracy or just the sheer pleasure of owning and shooting them.

Depending where you are; expect to pay about £300 average for a brand new HW95. Not bad for the amount of quality rifle you get with a new HW95! Second hand; about £200 more or less for a decent, well run-in rifle alone to £260-£300 or so, for good to excellent, to near-mint condition examples usually with a bag, sling and a decent to top-quality scope. Alternatively, I saw a superb, clean condition 2nd hand .177 HW97K underlever sell for £275 at my local gun shop recently (rifle only). So there's some real bargains about.

Nicely put Bill I've run out of likes .Simon if you don't want to read about it don't click on it FFS , simples . I'm trying to be polite here .. I woudn't have normally Phil, but THREE threads of this Graham scum is hard to ignore. Still, if all credit is due to anyone, mine goes to this Dave from Airgun BBS who had actually had the neck to go front it out with Steve Graham and got him arrested. Hopefully he will get a spell inside long enough to be forgotten about and we can all get back to shooting and reading and writing related posts to that subject. Just being polite here. S

I use WD40 but very sparingly after a thorough washing of my .22 pellets in warm water and Fairy Liquid. Once dry I spray it onto a cloth and roll a number of pellets at a time in it. Just enough to put a thin, lubricating coat on each pellet. There must be no oil up the skirt or it will diesel the rifle. It works for me and others who've come to use it. Furniture spray polish also works well, it seems, for .177 pellets Edit to add; I only shoot spring rifles and the folks I've heard who swear by WD40 as a pellet lube are also spring rifle shooters. What it does for ammo in a PC
