  1. If World War Z actually happened Kurt, I doubt not having an FAC would be a problem to getting hold of something a bit more powerful than an airgun mate. LOL!! Edited to add: That said, I have an HW80 .22 on my FAC that I wouldn't like to get in the way of...21 ft/lbs at 30 yards zeroing puts a single RWS Superfield pellet through an inch thick MDF board !
  2. I'm not a fan of PCPs but I agree with my friend's choice here. Falcon Lighthunter. If a small, compact air rifle is needed, they don't come much smaller than this. After that, Air Arms S200. both of these guns will fit your bill very well indeed.
  3. Hare numbers are very low on my permission. I used to see hundreds during early spring through to winter but, nothing like that now. Maybe two to four per season. I don't shoot any I see anymore. I'm firmly with Paulus' and charlie caller's thoughts. I'm not a poor countryman. I love my landscape of fields and rivers I have to shoot over and I don't want to see the countryside laid barren of wildlife like Hares. (They are indeed fine looking animals ) And I don't want to shoot them. There just isn't anything to justify that for me with such poor numbers.. Same goes for rabbits. If there's on
  4. If this is the HK3015 model with generic mildot reticle, it's a cracking little scope. I use one of these for hunting with my TX200HC Very kind of you Daz, well done.
  5. Nice one Daz my laddie! Nothing I like more than knocking down these b@stard things...along with rats and Mink!
  6. 1.Get yourself out finding out who owns the farms and the land around you. Dress smartly and look responsible and polite and just ask. You'll be more respectfully treated than if you wash up looking like an unwashed Gunga din! 2. Be prepared to visit pubs where they drink and buy a few pints. I shoot over land that was my father's permission. I've got thousands of acres of other shooting permission here just by socialising with the farmers who own it. Best of luck. Pianoman
  7. What??!!! You know Kurt, you could just buy a good spring rifle from Weihrauch or Air Arms for less than half the expense and none of this worry and trouble. Pop over to my permission sometime mate and shoot with my rifles and you'll soon see why I don't have any of this faff! It was the 13th on Friday..... Not that I'm superstitious or anything....much! Keep us posted how you are mate. Can't be this unfortunate every time Simon
  8. Okay. Kurt. Well. we'll see what happens on Thursday. Hope this all goes and ends well in your favour mate. Best wishes. Simon
  9. Seems like you have a resolved position Kurt. Beware of any attempt to flog you something else. You want the cash back and a fresh start! Looking at the pics again, I find it hard to believe you've been sent a brand new product and this rifle seems like a second hand one sold as new. Home-botched fitting, nothing professional-looking. And I cannot think Daystate would let such any of their rifles out with a safety bolt missing. Looks too fishy to me. Hope this will be sorted as promised for you mate. Simon
  10. 15 ft/lb would be just sweet for hunting. Especially in .177. It's just about perfect.
  11. Happy Birthday mate. Have a lovely day!
  12. Grounds for a refund? YES! Don't waste time and money there are plenty of these guns around. The shop has caused a poor fit issue which they have offered to put right. Then there is the condition of the gun itself. This appears either to have been tampered with or, Daystate have released an inferior-finished product with serious safety issues.. You do not have to accept this and a completely new replacement or your money back is the only resolve.
  13. Hi Simon. No mate sorry. I don't have a digital camera to do it. I'm hopeless with anything like posting pics. But the stock's a beauty, just like your HW77 factory stock. It was a right handed early/Mk.I factory HW77 stock. The thrust of the right bias cheek piece caused a slight but positive outside resistance on my left hand palm (felt like it was pushing my hand away slightly). I just set to work sanding it away and eventually sanded-out a palm-swell. The stock now has a perfect and comfortable feel for left hand shooting and I would love to get another early model HW77 like it. A car
  14. Bottom pic. Your HW77s factory stock is the one for me webster Looks lovely mate! The HW80 has a bit bigger cylinder and thus gives a bit more grunt. I agree with Elliott too, given an absolute one-or-t'other choice it would have to be a 40mm Objective lens scope. For an air rifle at least, you can't beat a really nice, compact 3-9x40. I've just picked up a 4X40mm Nikko Stirling Silver Crown for £10 and put it on my FAC HW80 .22. Absolutely fantastic! I thought, for a tenner it would either get smashed by the hefty recoil she dishes out, or absorb it well and shoot well with it. No complain
  15. Ahh I was as young and resilient to extremes of weather as you are now Craig. Believe me laddie, you will get to your mid fifties and you will think "Sod it!" when the rain's tipping down and there's a nice warm house around you!
  16. I used to regularly shoot in all weathers but, in the last ten years or so, I've seen so little of rabbits feeding in bad weather I don't bother now. It's not worth a soaking to shoot one rabbit or nothing at all to me now. I always used my HW80 .22. It got soaking wet and with 21 ft/lbs of whack the pellet doesn't hang about in the winds. But, once home I took the scope and stock off, dried it all with a clean cloth and let the metals air and the stock dry-off overnight. Next day, I gave the metal action a light oiling and a wipe with an oily cloth for cleaning it of handmarks, then pop i
  17. Hawke Panorama 4-12x50 EV IR AO is the best I've had from Hawke yet. Works superbly with my HW97K. Cost me £130 from Red Beck shooting supplies. Just as a matter of interest on scopes and prices. I bought an old, 2nd hand Nikko Stirling Silver Crown 4x40 scope for a princely tenner at Red Beck on Friday. Gloss finish, nice condition. fixed 4x mag, 30/30 reticle. 'Might be decent, might be shit' I thought. As Nikko always had a decent rep for standing up to harsh recoil, I put it on my FAC HW80 .22 yesterday and, prepared to see it smashed by the hefty recoil that 21.+ foot pounds dea
  18. Bisley Magnum are a good bet for your S200 pcp Craig. Excellent in .177 too!
  19. Daz, welcome to the sport mate. This is just how it is. Sometimes you just can't do a bloody thing right. Even the most experienced lads have nights and mornings when it all goes to hell in a handcart. Given that all we are trying to do, is get as close to a rabbit within range of a sub-12 ft/lb air rifle's shot as we can, it makes you wonder how it's done by others and the learning never ends! One thing I can pass on to you is, if you get to about 40-45 yards of a rabbit and if you cannot guarantee your shot will be successful, stay silent and still and let it carry on doing whateve
  20. There are some issues with some lines of Hawkes Chris. I've had an Airmax 6-18x42 SR12 fail on my HW77 But not all are bad. The Panorama series are among the best air rifle scopes I've seen yet. I have a Panorama 4-12x50 EV AO IR on my HW97 which performs brilliantly well. No complaints there! Cheers. Simon
  21. Yep, after seeing our scores at the weekend they must be running for the hills... NOT! Stand-To Laddie!!! Not scared of a few bods with PCPs a deep suntan and shonky eye-squints are you?? Bring the buggers on!
