I don't really have the words to express our relief that cancer is not on the cards for Nicola, Jimmy. The fall was hard enough to hear of and she was very badly injured, no getting round the fact. She could have really ended up worse than she did but, thank God, she's made of tougher stuff! I've lost two good women friends to breast cancer and a third survived with a double mastectomy. She's a brilliant lass too. Only 46 years old. Please God, these three fine women will be the only ones I will ever know, who were stricken by this evil b*****d thing! All our love and thoughts and

The only way the barrel will bend, is if you let the underlever slam back into the detent block under full tension of the spring. I've had both my HW77 and HW97K for some good numbers of years now and neither have suffered anything remotely like you could call a bent barrel. Both perfectly straight and true.

Got a pair of Jack Pike waterproof cammo pants. They don't breath so well and you can bloody boil in them! Great on a really cold, wet day though.

I used to buy them all and the articles by John Darling and his generation of airgun hunters/writers was invaluable, commonsense and really absorbing. Nowadays that quality has largely gone alas. Though I do quite like Matthew Manning's articles now and again. But generally, the magazines just regurgitate the same old stuff and are more reliant on ads for sales income these days and the gun/kit writing is heavily biased towards getting you to part with money you don't need to spend on kit that is bullshitted for performance when in fact, it is mostly poor and needless and keep businesses adver

Is there a markedly noticeable difference in 25 and 26mm piston wotsits? Really that much? Well, in my humble view, it's all about how well (or not) it all performs and comes together where it matters, out in the fields, that determines how good the rifle you have really is. For me, the best underlever spring powered air rifle of all is the HW77. In either .177 or .22 calibre. I've had TX200s in both calibres and they just didn't match the .22 HW77 full length rifle I own, for accuracy at long ranges or handling balance. They were just a lot prettier, TX200HC in .177 is blisteringly accura

Pcp Or Springer New Shooters
pianoman replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
If I was starting out for the very first time...., I'd probably fall foul of an RFD who'd tell me some Chinese/Korean cheap bollocks he'd stocked up on, was going to be every bit as good as the expensive, quality kit he didn't have in stock. I would make every mistake and buy all the junk and get disappointed to Hell. And after spending a small fortune needlessly on utter rubbish from the Airgun press who'd told me endless crap about how good yet more crap was, and I'd found, yet again, it bloody wasn't, I'd probably chuck it and give up..... Before a light might strike and I se -
What calibre? My HW80 .22 loves H&N FTT 5.53mm headsize.

Depends how busy you are in your professional life I suppose Jamie. How often can you get out to do a thorough job of pest control on all of them, with all other demands on your time? I have four good rabbit perms here and that's enough that I can get to and get around with regularity. One is a vast arable farm of crops about 16 miles from my home, one is a couple of meadows next to a large cornfield about 12 miles away, the other is a woodland and pasture-land next to corn and barley fields 15 miles away. Another is a beautiful country hotel with vast gardens and lawns that the rabbits ar

Not that you'll take this up Mitch but, I really cannot fault having an HW80 .22 on ticket. Beautiful handling rifle that will match a PCP for accuracy, no limited fill from a bottle and hits hard and fast on the twitchiest rabbit's head. I love mine to bits mate. Wouldn't trade it for any amount of cash.

Which Is Your Fav` Hunting Calibre/ Weight ?
pianoman replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
IN .22 CALIBRE, HW77 .22 with H&N FIELD TARGET TROPHY 5.53mm headsize. HW80 .22 FAC + H&N FIELD TARGET TROPHY 5.53mm. Both these rifles love this pellet and has yet to fail me in their performances. Great accuracy, hitting power and penetration. Deforms to a solid ball and provides a humane, instant knock-out killing round on rabbits, rats and squirrel. And how often do you find a single brand and weight of pellet performs well in both of your guns? Great rifles and great ammo in my book! IN .177 CALIBRE. HW97K .177 with H&N 4.00mm headsize. Perfect round -
A very Happy Christmas to you and your family Mitch. All the very best for 2017. Simon

Have to say I'm a tad surprised Jimmy but, they are incredibly accurate air rifles for sure. My regulated Airtech Regal was well worth persisting with and keeping faith with -though it was testing my patience to breaking point at one point. This might be a turning of the tide for Daystate. Hope it works out for you as well as it has for me mate. ATB. Simon.

Best Spring Powered Air Rifle
pianoman replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
That's been my experience of my HW80 .22 reaper6. No matter how long I leave it be, it comes out and shoots like the day it was brand new and first run in. I don't really need to bother with any other gun if it had to be just the one. As well as my HW80, I have an HW77 .22 at sub 12 FPE. I'd say without any hesitation, these two are the best spring powered air rifles you can still buy. All the best. Simon -
Well Mark, I'm a happy person normally.....I suppose! They might think that....untill they try em!
-
Lovely! Have a wonderful Christmas with you new little ones and the .177 one Phil. ! Simon

Hi RUS. There was a sub-12 FPE Pro Elite on sale at my local gunshop a while ago. A hefty rifle but that's needed for balance and poise on aim at your shoulder with a hefty break-barel spring rifle like this.. And to help stifle the recoil as much as possible. Definitely one of the great air rifles of the last twenty years in my humble opinion. And if you can sort out an FAC and buy one on ticket or, tune it yourself, it would make a fantastic magnum gun. Never heard a bad word said about this rifle but, I'm not sure if it was ever made in a left-hand version for shooters like me.

You MUST try these Mark Sliced potatoes baked in creamy milk a little garlic and topped with Nutmeg or cheese, basically If you haven't tried this dish you,ve been denied a delicious way to enjoy spuds let me tell you! Beautiful with Roast Lamb too. The recipe is easy to find and tastes...well, you see for yourself. OR You could try the ready-made Potatoes Dauphinoise from Tesco and the like. But anyone with a mind for cooking can make these. ATB Simon

I bet Dauphinoise potatoes go nice with these...

I have a Nikon Fieldmaster 6-18x40 currently mounted to my FAC HW80 .22 and it's a beauty of a scope. It features a very fine reticle cross-hair centering into a tiny dot. It offers an uncluttered, amazingly clear sightpicture with a phenominally accurate zero, right onto the centre dot at 35-metres range. I shoot with it just like any 30/30 reticle. This particular Nikon model is not cheap at over £400 but, when I compare it to cheaper scopes that have died a death on such a powerful, recoiling spring rifle it's proved a bargain! I'd certainly buy another Nikkon if need be.

I'm with Jimmy when I too add, it was a pleasure to be of assistance to you Phil. Tim/Charlie Caller is a real mine of knowledge about setting up a spring rifle. so, if he's made any improvement at all to this TX200HC then, it must now be an incredible rifle to shoot with. I though it was one of the most accurate rifles I've ever shot with. Beautiful gun all round there.

If this "Air Weapon Licence" proves a successful measure in Scotland, by whatever measure it may be deemed a success, we'll end up with air gun licensing here in England. You just watch. Over 3 million air rifles and pistols in circulation would make a hefty return at 70-odd quid a time.

Hopefully an Air Arms Prosport in .22.

I LOVE CATS. I would be heartbroken if anything happened to my little three. Poppy, Darcy and Boo. They are only young cats just coming out of their kitten stages; but one day, in around 20 years, maybe less, give or take, there will be the enivitable passings-away as they reach old age. That is going to be a very dark time, for me and for Helen too who adores them. I'm so sorry for your loss of your beloved Sylvie Phil. But, at least, she had 19 very happy years with you. And that's a cat's life well lived. All the best mate and hope your grief comes to a final mourning and re
