Out of the brother sister mating Mik bred 3 came to us two dogs and a bitch.... All were 100% healthy and mentally sound were a pleasure to kennel and were just like all other dogs from this line. Keen to please with above average drive the runty dog mik mentioned turned out the best of the 3 and was lost last season in the field doing what he was bred for... The other two my dog and a friend's bitch were everything you would want in a dog looks and attitude wise but lacked in pace badly for our type of work... They were neutered and placed in pet homes... I've had a very good run with this fa

Linco will treat the gales and not as hard on the system as Tylan...... -
I've an old pieps box and rechargeable collar to sell... They have 5 or 6 seasons graft under their belt so are not mint condition but they work fine.... Collar has a crack in it but doesn't let any moisture in has been like it a few years now... Also red light doesn't change to green when chargeing but will last over 24 hours still before going flat.. The box works spot on but the lock on the on/off slide doesn't work not really a problem but just being honest... I'm in the north east and don't really want to post it anyone interested get in touch £150..

An old one but still one of my favourite pics of a great dog that I had some real fun with... He is the dog me and a few others have based our kennels on since the late 90s...

Got to agree the hardest test for any dog is being out there grafting.... Plenty of dogs will put up a good show once a week but work them hard several days/nights a week and that's when you see what your feeding....

Got to agree with you fuji the main reason being if razor has lined it it's usually worth breeding from....

Past present or future all that is needed is a pair of well bred saluki based lurchers even one would do at times...... But remember your not going to get them every time and your next one could be your dogs last..

The man needs to be as keen as the dog or it's not gonna happen....

They are just short of 18 mths old.... They have put some gear on the floor for youngsters that's for sure..

I've seen more this year than ever before strange really with how mild it's been... Even stood and watched one hunting blue hares only yesterday..

My lad bought one of these we had it out on trial the other night..... Gave it some hammer and it never died, wish we had of had these in my youth would of saved the bad back and dozens of coats and trousers rotted out with battery acid. Time will tell how they last but for the money they are sure worth taking a punt on...

Imo on average they were better years back... Not many people owned them unless they had a job for them same can be said about ferrets as well... But the very best dogs today are far superior to them old dogs, don't let bag sizes fool you either not as many lamps about back then and less men traveled for sport... I've seen modern dogs stop game the legends of yesteryear would never of caught. Just look at hare dogs how many back in the 70s and 80s could stop 4s or 5s ?

LABRADOR GREYHOUND ANYONE HAVE THIS CROSS
Butler replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I have a lab dog that imo would be perfect for producing lurchers..... His drive is second to none he tracks when out with the rifle works in the beating line picks up marks and kills rats and has been known to tackle larger game accidentally.... I would be willing to put him over a bitch free of charge for the right reasons. I've no problem with a man recouping the cost of rearing a litter but would not let anyone make money from a free stud. -
Taping Dogs Toes Up Before They Run ???
Butler replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Humans run with shoes on and horses do to so why can't people believe that the right kind of boot could help a dog rather than hinder them... -
The reason most lads gift pups to selected homes is if you sell them you sell all rights to them.... Were as a gifted pup will most of the time be offered back to you if the owners circumstances change... Or if they make the grade a pup or stud is always there for you. As a rule I work dogs not bitches but if I have a bitch that is worth breeding from and the dog I use isn't from a good friends kennels (free stud) I always pay the stud even if they would take a pup in payment. As if I'm breeding a litter first and foremost its for my own use so I don't want anyone taking pick before me...Money

It seems to me people are willing to shell out more on a lamp and battery than they are on a decent hound/best pal.....

Never bought a working dog for more years than I can remember..... But why are lurchers and terriers under valued so much £600 for a made dog would be nothing. You would struggle to get a lab or a pointer straight out the nest for that kind of money...

Won't be hard to find a run down that neck of the woods Andy..... Just hope your hound has strong feet as the ground can be brutal depending were you hunt..

Putanges, A Few Observations.
Butler replied to mole trapper's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I think the biggest advantage to these French traps is they are unaffected by frost a big bonus for us northern mowdy men... -
The test with the larger deer was never the catching but the stopping.... Just because your dog makes contact doesn't mean you have them in the bag.

Roe on open land for me every time.... The bigger deer can take some stopping but for speed, agility and stamina roe are second to none...
