  1. These two do alright. Mainly used for lamping and bushing but took to the hill work fine. They’ve had some decent dogs to run with so soon pick it up. I’ll have a pure hill dog at some point but I still like to lamp so at the minute these suite me. White dog is saluki collie grey and is 12 now. Still putting in the miles. Bitch is 7. Same sort of breeding but with a bit of bull. Think they both would have made decent hill dogs if I could get up there more often.
  2. Just arrived back from the Shetlands. Great week working up there. Windy and fairly big seas but we managed to get a fair bit done. On Monday We managed to get the group up to Muckle Flugga lighthouse, north of Unst. We were the most northerly people on the UK mainland. Kayaks away. Back on the tools this week.
  3. Sad news to hear this about Phil. We met a few times for a walk out with the dogs and he has always been on the end of the phone whenever I needed advice. Chats with him always started on the subject of running dogs and then normally went on a tangent to welsh hill farms and rugs. Popped in to see him a couple of times when I was down his neck of the woods. Always made welcome and we would chat for hours. He would always ask if I’d been anywhere different with the dogs and no matter where I mentioned, he had pretty much been there and had the stories and photos to back it up! A very humble
  4. Just stand in front of the mirror and whisper saluki 3 times and he will appear
  5. I’ll let you know. Text you later
  6. Who got the biggest fish mate? I’m going with lucky Phil?
  7. He will take the cost of fuel, bait and rod hire from their wages mate!!
  8. Looks like a cracking day mate. I’m hoping to get out over the weekend. Some nice fish there.
  9. Set off from Porto this morning. At about 11AM our train stopped dead. No explanation of what was happening and about 45 mins later someone mentioned the power cut. We had to walk up the train tracks for a while before we could jump a wall onto an estate/industrial area. Managed to share an Uber with someone to the airport but so much disruption. No ATMs at the airport working and no card payments in the limited food shops that were open. We got on the plane only to be told we were having to wait for 5 hours. This rapidly changed and we were in the air within an hour. Interesting to see how pe
  10. That’s it. Once it’s broke to stock you can get out and about more. If it’s from decent breeding it will get going early on. Always good to get it out with other bushers if possible. I’ve never had to do much training with a busher other than to brake to stock, ferrets and general obedience. The rest normally comes naturally.
  11. Mates is a lovely stamp too. Big strong dog. Think he was bred by a keeper up theNorth East. He’s great on the shoot and excels at main trailing.
  12. Was lucky enough to be invited out stalking last week. Just fried a bit up. Fallow with rosemary, thyme, garlic and butter.
  13. Few people on a shoot near me use lab x GWP. They are 1/4 GWP and they seem to be decent. All look well put together and great temperaments. Mate has one he uses for beating/picking up. He also uses it for man trailing/tracking. He’s a great dog.
  14. Nice healthy pups there. Good to see.
  15. Should be just the job for hunting the hills
  16. Looking forward to seeing how these turn out. Hopefully a few lads off here will be working them. ATB with finding good homes. You keeping one back Dai?
  17. Haven’t been up there for a while mate. There’s plenty of other stuff moved in and way too many people about to have an accident
  18. Anything with a bit of collie and saluki in it!! Might try something different next.
  19. Yeah. 15 on Saturday. Time does fly. She was a great little dog and she always surprised us. I think sometimes she thought she was 29TTS
  20. We had some good days and nights out with Martha mate. Great little dog. I remember the first night you took me out with her. The field were a fair size and the slips were long. She soon filled a bag for us though! She had a good life. Just found this picture of when we all went up to Wales.
  21. She’s plenty big enough for most things then. That’s a perfect size for a rabbit dog. Especially for long slips on big ground.
  22. She’s a nice looking bitch. Looks to be in good condition and bred for the bunnies. Something similar would be great to start my young lad off. How tall is she? ATB with your search. I’d definitely stick to your guns and go see the potential sire at work
