  1. If your running the dog doubled up it could be a case of jealousy towards the other dog.Seen it with a dog i had years back,he would not retrieve if another dog was about but on his own he was grand.
  2. Good start to the season Mart, pity they could not have been released for another day,but well done,is that a russell ye dug with.
  3. Mink will lie up nearly anywhere, land drain pipe being there favourite imo, once bolted one while ferreting, saw another up in an ivy tree while out shooting, last time it was seen up there, lol. If there is a big rock or low wall at a bridge on a river or stream thats where you will usually see signs of mink activity, bones of fish or small birds where they have been feasting on them, thats where you set your traps.
  4. Anywhere there is waterways of any kind you will always have mink about.I find the smaller little trout streams the best for traping them, especially if there is also wild fowl nesting on the stream.
  5. Where did it say he did not have one on the bitch, maybe he was listening to hear the bitch working.
  6. that dont look like the same dog in all the pictures mate it had to be staffy x pat didnt it . lol Have you a problem with that,or are t your dogs better.
  7. That line was passed on to Nial Of The Nine hostages who started showing them and they were never the same. I think the children of lir got hold of them and they all disappeared.
  8. Im sure JY would of had that breeding at the time as him and pk were very good friends back then. The dog whistle was 1st owned for a short time by ck in ballymore and then went to ts in ballynacarrigy. The dog pup i kept from the breeding died an old dog and most of the other pups in the litter went to england as i had lads coming over diging at the time.TA just outside delvin also used whistle across a good bitch he had for hares,so there still could be some of that blood knocking about.I remember JY had a lurcher back around that time with a scot tail,he used him on foxs, the dog would retrie

  11. he has no first cross irish terrier greyhounds .But he dose have some dogs with his old line or irish terrier in them but its well back in their breed. The dogs around ireland that have alot of his old lines in them seem to me to be the dogs that are talked about most. And before all the shit starts again. Why did he get out of them or not keep more of them?I dont know am asked this question almost every day even last night on the phone a lad from galway side asked why he has whippets .So im sure youl get the usual experts giving their reasions cause PK is a dog dealer and everything is for s

  13. I believe a dog that wont hit cover while after game is not giving its all.I reckon most game are caught just in the hedge or whatever cover there is about, espesially fox's and deer.
  14. That comment is shite, ive had both dhx and wheatonx hit cover as hard and determined as any bullx.
  15. If i had a pup of someone and it did not work out or for some reason i had to get shut of it,i would always give the original owner first refusal, even if it was a terrier that would not work i would let the breeder know the story and give him the choice as what i done with it.If i had a bitch that someone else had gifted me and i wanted to breed from her then i would also contact breeder as they would know better what dog would be suitable for the bitch. Then if it was a dog and i wanted to put him across a certain bitch,i would inform the breeder i was doing the mating, but it would be a bitch
  16. They made a very usefull fox dog, also good on deer,PK from cavan bred a lot of them years back, dont see many about now, back then they were a very popular x.I worked a couple and seen a few do there job,as good as the wheaton or bullx for foxing.
  17. Alamysin spray, and betadine wash also very good.

  21. There priceing the border beyond the working mans reach, unless your in a circle of lads that keep and work them.I remember years ago a few lads from cobh in cork kept a very good working strain of border. Now we happened to be having a few pints with them after the game fair in adare manor and got chatting about borders,Tom the man i was talking to took me out to his van and showed me 3 border bitches, all well worked, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter. Not the big chunky things you see at shows, proper workers. We met up with them at another show a couple of weeks later and we went home with 2 bor
  22. Preferr the nylon hitch myself, safer on adult birds,i have never had a cock get loose on one of them yet, touch wood lol.I was using leather hitch's with a metal fastner,b*****d to put on or take off, also heels have to be well formed to use them or they sliped down over them resulting in the heel growing deformed.
  23. If bred correctly they are very good workers and although some can and will be very hard, there is also some sensible bullx's and the best thing about them is they wont get pushed about in an earth.People are too quick to knock the bullxpatt but until they work them for themselves they should not knock them. ive seen sum decent staffxpats but dont think there enough good staffs out there to much kc shite big bags of wind just bred for looks,,but on other hand not hard to find good game pbt but can be very leggy first cross but much rather then 90% of staffs imo.. I would imagine the 1s
