  1. I have seen driven deer killed with 46grm o,s,but they were at close range, within 20yds.
  2. Were the shores not constructed in such a way that a judge could see 1st hand how a dog was working the querry, how else did they judge them.
  3. Sorry to hear that, its a risk we all take when we put a dog to ground, shit when it happens.
  4. What im saying is ifyour terrier is up to its quarry where is the need for a drawing dog.
  5. I have read here and heard a lot of people speak about leting in dogs to draw quarry. My question is if your terrier is working up close enough to the quarry why is there need for a draw dog.
  6. Just feed her seperately, away from the pups and dont make too much of a fuss over the pups as she may get jealous. The pups usually open there eyes from about 12..14 days so dont worry about them.Best of luck with them buddy.
  7. Its a terrier he is on about not a lurcher, and if they are brought on from a pup in the right manner {stock broken, well socialised and manners put on them they are no different to any other breed}I have a staffxpatt dog that is one of the calmest dogs i ever had about the place, but a demon at his work.
  8. Stop end for someone that comes across as the know all of hunting, you really know f**k all,if the bitch had a bad do and needed a month to recover then so be it,ive seen dogs take a lot longer but thats the way they work.Maybe you have not worked a hardish terrier and are used to sounders.I think scent is doing the right thing,no point in making the bitch jib by working her sore, jmho.
  9. Very good stuff used it a few times and it does the buisness, have also used optrex eye wash and it helps clean the eyes.
  10. Best of luck with them, hope they do the job for you.
  11. It just fucks up good earths leaving them open, and could also f**k up your permission even though it was not you who did it.Not a big job to back fill a hole,it only takes a short time.
  12. how many of u were digging laim they couldnt be up to much or ur not taking the right gear with u if it took u 8 hours to dig 7 foot or is this another jackanory story its funny how ur freinds with fatman cos he prone to a porkie to lol Dont need to tell porkie's stevie,no reason to.We out doing the buisness every chance we get,if you could see my terriers at the minute you would understand how hard there been worked lol, they are a sorry looking sight and it still september.
  13. Good stuff liam, that would loosen up the joints, was it deep or just hard diging. We dug that lugs again yesterday morn,he took a lot but held the game,2 in the pot.He still not sounding, only sounds when he cant get at it,lol pups must be geting strong now. 15. Fair play scent, nice to see a russell doing the job,i have the utmost respect for the russells but they are few and far between nowadays, spoilt imo by the influx of black dogs in this country.
  16. Good work mudd dog, that looked really awkward, but its the end result that matters, and the feeling of breaking through to your dog.
  17. They must be mineshafts your trying if you have to dig beagles out of them, your words not mine, and where did i ever say they were up with the quarry,i did'nt.I have seen foxs bolt while hounds were in the earth, and i have seen hounds dig to there fox without the help of there owners in light earths. For a man thats at hounds and terriers 22 year, you have not seen a whole lot have you,and to come on here thinking you know all there is to know about hounds just because you keep a halfx, dont make me laugh, atb,fm.
  18. dug foot beagles out of big sets plenty of times granted they were not up with there game but still had to be dug out for a terrier to be droped, the best one i remember was about 10,12 years ago in a big valley in county cork about 10 beagles went to ground in a big earth on the side of the valley there was no way were they coming back to the entrance so we done what had to be done and dug them out and droped the terrier and to tell the truth the first beagle was only about another 6 foot from reaching his fox but it was gone to tight in the tube.....if i remember right the terrier droped wa
  19. Shows how mush you know about hounda then dont it ,a fox will seek refuge anywhere when hunted hard, also what would you know about hounds, you;ve got a harrierxspringer and your mate has a terrierx so go do 1.
  20. Stop end, firstly i never said i dug out his hounds,he did himself.I dont hunt with hounds anymore, used to keep a couple of harriers but rather the diging. The mineshaft thing you are on about, have you never ran a fox to ground in a big sett, foot beagle will get down no prob. Two different hunts was just a manner of speach, but to the anyone that have not been out with hounds they would thing there were 2 seperate hunts.I have also seen packs split on 2 different foxs, would that not be 2 different hunts or is that not allowed in your book. You also said his hounds were shite, how would you know when
  21. I have seen some really good sealyhamxrussell,i also had the pleasure of working one for awhile, hard as iron he was,he finished up in wexford and i know lads that dug him down there and said he was one of the best terriers they ever dug, some of the wexford lads might of known him the dogs name was sam. There is a few lads down in cork and wexford breeding some very good sealyhamxrussells.
  22. Mate of mine has a pack consisting of maybe 14 harrierxfox hound, and also 3 foot beagles. The beagles are b*****ds for following a fox to ground and have been dug out several times. Why he keeps them is beyond me as they cant keep with the larger hounds so you have 2 different hunts goin on the same fox.
  23. They wont look good if they wont lift, digger.
  24. I would refrase that statement,lol.
