    lamping

as lamping dose not involve FERRETS, Ill move it to the relevant section, shall I
  2. maybe before going out "HUNTING" again, both you and your mate should take the time to read up on what you can or cant hunt reguarding seasons, and also whats classed as vermin, and can therefore be taken all year round also all of the members who have replied to this, are only trying to educate you on the rightway rather than the wrong way to hunt, maybe rather than getting your back up and trying to reply smugly, you should take heed and advice
  3. I left it up, for the simple reason that deleating it wont educate these fellows one little bit, but them reading the replies might, if they want to pm me direct asking for it to be removed, I'll do so
  4. goes to show, you only get what you pay for, doing a simple search would have given you your answer straight away, this has been asked sooooo many times
  5. those nets look a lot like either pidgeon netting or sweet pea netting, I did try making some myself out of pidgeon netting once, but as its coated its too stiff, which those look like too, and therefore no good what-so-ever, I'd get yourself some decent bigger nets, as they didnt seem upto the mark to me
  6. whats all this dominance stuff anyway, or disapline, its a ferret, not a dog, handle lots, carried about, if he bites, and I mean bites, not play mouthing, then a simple squeeze at the joint of mouth will get him off, put him down, whacking him, sticking hot fluids in him, aint going to solve your problems

    problem.

you should have the net set at around 18" to 21" high, as you get used to running the net out, your hold onto the net and drag it along the running lines, you could always tie it in to the top line, so you have an even amount of net/bag between each pole, stick an end pin in the ground with your first pole, pull the top and bottom lines tight, along with the net, say at 5yds, now with the net fully laid out, you can grab the net at the 5yd mark, and drag it back along the running lines, to the first pole, this will give you, 10yds of net, on 5yds of line (continue with the whole net) , tie it
  8. you could lift the lid by simply holding that nice silver bolt you put on, get rid of the handles, that'll reduce a bit of weight
  9. if myself, magwitch, richie and ferreter216 go out together, we would have approx 12 ferrets between us, at this time of year, a few would be youngsters getting their first taste of a warren, even smallish warrens, say 20 holes, would see us all putting at least a couple down, its good to get the youngsters in with adults, plus it does get the rabbits bolting, rather than hole hoping, which they can do with only a couple of ferts I suppose those who want to net each hole will/could get away with only using a couple, but we tend to longnet, lazy sods
  10. no all my boxes are still working and the collars too the mk 1 collars work with the mk3 boxes just hope i never have to buy a mk3 fraid not mate, its the other way around, a mk1 box will pick up a mk3 collar, but a mk3 locator gets no reading on a mk1 collar
  11. I'd pm woodga mate, and ask for his dvd, its the mutts nutts, very informative and show's you in detail every aspect of snaring, from making them to catching with them,
  12. spot the deliberate mistake on the 2nd picture
  13. if you had pulled it out quick enough by its tail, it wouldent have had the chance to bite, have pulled ferts out of burrows quite a few times by the tail
  14. a normal box back ferret box is not uncomfortable, but each to their own, if a good layer of woodchip is put in any box, then pee aint a problem those who do have a problem with it, maybe need to change their waking morning, on a days ferreting, Ill open up the court even before making myself a coffee, make a bit of noise, wake the ferts up, let them see the bow back, then go back indoors to make my coffee, this gives them the chance to relive themselves before getting put in the box, have only ever had them pee in the box once, when I did none of the above

    problem.

splice is a way of joining two ends of nylon so theres no knot, have to admit, my first longnet, I just undid the knots, slipped the end pins on and re knotted it, and it worked ok for me you wont need to make the top and bottom longer, as you want it bagged, not stretched out, look at your mum's net curtains, they should be twice the width of the window, gives them a ripple effect, well the same goes for your longnet, so whatever length it is, deciede at what distance your poles are going to be spaced at, and tes, you'll either need grommets on those poles, or as suggested, wrap a bit of t
  16. my missus pulled her own out, bottle whiskey, some waccy baccy and a set of pliers, stop being a woose
  17. if ferreting is'int your thing, your going to need more than just ferrets, ie, carrying box, spade, purse nets, longnets? to name a few, your probably better off finding an experienced ferreter near to you, and seeing if you can share permissions far better to turn up with someone else, and do a good job for the farmer, which may gain you further permission rather than try it alone, make a hash of it, and not get asked back
  18. cheapest is probably e bay mate, got mine from there £127 for a mk3 one collar with free postage if you do a search on ferret finders on here, you'll find loads of topics,
  19. two hobs together are fine mate, may shag each other a bit, I have two large hutches, both housing 3 hobs in each
  20. I have found the ferts will not eat tripe for my dogs, others may have different results, would be far better feed on rabbit, wood pidgeon etc as for ratting with them, again, I wouldent but others do, what are you going to do with the flushed rats?, shoot or dogs far better in my eyes to use a smoker and have the terriers waiting, than risk a badly wounded ferret
  21. shame your so far away mate, I would have sorted you a couple
  22. the above clip is the game scenario's, playing online is just so much better if anyone's looking, eastlondonbiker is my tag
  23. x box 360, call of duty 4, we could have a "huntinglife clan"
  24. good looking hutch mate, if I were you though I'd raise it up on legs, not only will a flow of air keep it from getting damp, but it'll make easier cleaning, I found this out when I built a new one, was a bugga to clean the bottom section, its now raised on 2ft legs
