  1. You putting a pic up? And how much did they cost? What are they made of?? do people read posts too fast, or words not regester , I can see the word HAZEL in that sentance
  2. sounds like you had a good enough day, to catch the bug and want to go again, have never used a pre breakfast for ferts, meal of rabbit the night before, and just give them time in the morning to use the toilet area, before boxing them up, do take water for them half way through the day, with a little liver from a caught rabbit
  3. I cant see why not, but I 'll take your word for it
  4. out of interest Rolfe, how do you prefer to treat nests, in work we have those (myself inc) that use the pump and ficam D, but a couple of others prefer an oil based tin spray jobby, saying that, that method drops the wasps quicker, and penetrates the nest better
  5. doubt it very much mate, they cancelled christmas last year I'll just hit them for a big pay rise come march
  6. its always a good idea to have written permission on you, that way, it can be produced in times like that
  7. glad you got the fert back a better method is to use a locacator though

    A question

in laymans term, its simply a longnet, anything between 25yds to 100yds long, that is placed around the warren, in whatever shape is neccessary, therefore boxing in all the holes, the ferrets are then entered to do their work of bolting the rabbits out into the net, sometimes if its a large warren, the box can be subdivided again with more longnets, or purse nets can still be put down, as some rabbits will try bolting from one hole, to dissapear down another, within the net longnetting allows you to ferret in areas where it may be tricky getting to the holes, around a bramble bush for exam
  9. first thing you should do mate is completly fill in your profile, not many will trust you when its left blank, maybe put up a post about yourself in the new members section, inc a few pictures, join in on a few disscussions,
  10. bloody good pictures mate, nice to see ferts and dogs working well together
  11. dont know why you say that victor, our days are the same as everyone else's
  12. far better of with 3/4 shuttering ply, OSB loves the damp and will swell and blow after a time, even coated with preserve
  13. if your ferreting hedges that back onto a road, your far better of using a longnet on the roadside, you'll need to take someone along with you, so each side can be covered by one person, on the roadside its easier with the longnet, as the ferts can run freely between holes without dislodging purse nets, plus the longnet gives you that little edge, from the fert running onto the road
  14. you'vre passed my first test joe, theres alot of people that cant take a joke and would have got their back up after my reply, nice to see you have a sense of humour

I can do thursday evening, after college. but the ferreting will be saturday, dont worry, if you aint who you say you are, we can dig

go with richie's advice, I cant understand how anyone on seeing a tick, large of small on thier ferret, be happy with spraying it and popping it back into the hutch/court, get those green pullers and get rid of, there and then
  18. well done mate, you'll be fancying a days ferreting in harlow then next weekend
  19. yup, built this, and caught quite a few in it too
  20. pm johnb and buy his book of him, it'll tell you all you need to know
  21. dont wait for the next ferreting trip, to try the collar again, if you put it on again while the ferts are in the hutch, if they can slip it, you dont need to dig, then put on again, but tighter, as richie says, if need be make more holes, its suprising how small you can get the collar down too, and not strangle the fert

    rabbits

as a new member with only this post, Id suggest you take the time to fill in your profile with as much information about yourself, then get a few posts/topics under your belt, and ask the same question again, prehaps in the air rifle section, or the wanted section Im affraid people work hard to get and keep permissions, so not knowing anything about you, people may not leap out offering you help

    help

I bought a mk3 terrier collar from e bay as it was cheap, the only difference between terrier and ferret, was the terrier collar was 200mm longer, the gubbins bit is the same, so I just cut it down by 100mm and use it with my large hobs, dont see a reason it wont work the opposite way around
  24. tried the daughters 2 pet ferrets on a tin this morning, they loved them,
  25. as soon as they are culled, then they will start going stiff, if you freeze them, then de-frost 24hrs before needed, they will be floopy
