  2. Are you using the new format?, i put some on yesterday and they were full size, i use the old foemat.
  3. Thanks TC i will just stick to the castration rings.

  5. Think i will try some of that 4z, ring on monday i think.
  6. Thanks Tommo and TC, very helpfull.
  7. Have you tried the nets yet mate?. Which do you like best? Did the advanced netting have a selvedge on and how big is the mesh? Thinking of trying some 4z.
  8. 2 free hob ferrets. 1 is a silver/polecat type, last seasons young, had a few runs this season. He goes ok, tame, not a small one. Other is a albino, last seasons young, again had a few goes. They are in cumbria. Nothing wrong with them, just to many ferrets on.
  9. thats a smart little net bag do you make them yourself atb The net bag is a army laundry bag cut down to the required lenght for the type of basket i have made. I do 3 different baskets that need different lenghts of bag, i worked the basket rim sizes in so i could use these bags as they can be easily bought.
  10. I use castration rubbers on my long nets which i like. The only thing wrong with them is that you have to replace them when they get to bad as they biodegrade (is that the right word). Anyway one pinged off a net yesterday when a rabbit hit the net as they need changing. My mate suggested i try a O ring, found these on ebay. I think i will buy a pack and try them. Has anyone else already tried this? as you could save me the effort. Thanks. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/METRIC-NITRILE-70-RUBBER-O-RINGS-3-5MM-DIAMETER-C-S-SIZES-5MM-ID-30MM-ID-/221124791607?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&
  11. Your welcome mate, you done a good job with putting the bag on, takes a while doesn't it but well worth the time and effort. Is the basket frame 6mm or 8mm, looks like 6. Hope you enjoy using the net and baskets, better when you make your own stuff. I use old straping that wagon drivers throw away for the strap, free and does a good job.
  12. Get a bit of string and follow the frame of your other basket, mark it with a pen when right round, try it on the other frame and that will tell you mate.
  13. You are a braver man than me puting it on that nice white sheet, mine would have went scatty.
  14. You also need to widen the slot one way in the grey box as the switch would then sit 1mm prouder. You could use slightly thinner metal if you wanted to.
  15. When i had a couple of switches with the same problem i could not get any anywere, I got a bit of 1mm stainless and hack sawed it to the correct diameter to sit in the recess in the back if the switch, i then drilled a 1mm hole in middle and with a needle file i filled a drive into it. I them fixed it into the switch with mastic, you could use arraldite. I then fit a new plastic depth gauge from ebay, you need to be carefull that you put it in the correct place on the drive. Bit of a job i agree but it made 2 broken boxes work again and as the drive is now metal it will never break again, use
  16. Put a pic up please, would like to see how they turned out, What size is he?
  17. They will not always want the same ammount, like humans, dogs or anything else if you are working hard you need more food to sustain it. If they are not getting worked much and not burning it off they will need less. If they have not cleaned up the next day give them slightly less and slightly more if they have cleaned up, i feed half a rabbit a day for my 3 jills and a hob which is about right for them when they are getting plenty of work.
  18. I assume you mean the barrel is to deep, if so you could have cut it off lower down the barrel, you also needed it cut Lower at the front to feed the net into and try and cut it with curves on and more bulky around the slot as it keeps it more ridged. Hope this helps. Atb
  19. handmade ,what kind of lures do you make lc?sorry for going off topic,pm if you like Toby type, a kinked spoon type, derwent spoons, i also used to make pike plugs but gave them to my mate who fishes for pike regular, i like salmon, sea trout and brownie fishing.
  20. Time you buy the twine etc it is probably cheaper to buy but i like to make my own things. Not that i am tight but i get more satisfaction making all my own gear be it ferreting gear of fishing lures, fly's etc.
  21. Dont know about them rivers but i like to use spider type wets early on in the season. Things like partridge/orange, snipe/purple, march brown, black spider and things of this type.
  22. Not necessarily, they are nicer to handle, but not always the best catcher. As the post above, it depends who made them. TC don't talk shite,a hand made net is better than machine shite anyday Not necessarily, they are nicer to handle, but not always the best catcher. As the post above, it depends who made them. TC don't talk shite,a hand made net is better than machine shite anyday If TC says that is true i personally would believe what he says, what he dosent know about nets isnt worth knowing. He is only ever a PM away, also always willing to share his knowled
  23. I have a beddy x whippet/grey, good ferreting bitch but a bit to small for me (18 1/2"). Just lacks size for top end speed but i am pleased with everything else. I am sure most of this breeding will be a little bigger than my bitch but if i ever got another first x it would definetly be beddy/grey.
