  1. It sounds like you would get a little walk up,but depends on what's around you too, what head of game/vermin occupy the spot, and what you could feed up into the area, are they any flash floods that stay into spring to feed, Rhodey is right really carefull managment, good luck darren
  2. I have never had a problem with hornady 17 hmr ammo, in fact the only problem I have had was with Remington 22 rf ammo I had to take it back to the shop most inconsistent ammo I have ever come across which I still find hard to believe,
  3. So, no fella running a dog has ever made a lamp shy fox? If you're saying that, it's very far from the truth. Any fox given a fright on a lamp won't hang around again for one anytime soon. No I am not saying that at all,my line of thought was a reaction to Trev 22 further down the thread,I am not attacking anyone nor want to be attacked,if you back track and read his comment you will see why I replied the way I did,I use a rifle and most other methods, his comments were against rifle, it may have been a commment made in jest I dont know,I tried to rationalise his comment by saying maybee
  4. Zeiss do a standard scope I cant remember the model but its was around £600 from sportsman they are spot on,or a 8x56 shcmit and bender you cant really go wrong with either,On my 243 wich I used for year's for deer stalking and fox shooting, I had a good redfield iluminator scope 3x9x40 budget scope, new ones are 2-3 hundred quid but it never let me down, a mate of mine still has it on a 270, leupold scopes very good scopes but I dont seem to get on with them, but people who use them love them, there are scopes out there that will give good service without the £2,000 price tag that's what I hate
  5. Does anyone know if Trimmer is still around,
  6. Tremendous bloke my old man knew him well, alot of the locals down there were top country men,Dad spent a lot of time down there, with his mate, another good country man and local called Smed Awker, they did there share of pheasants too,

  10. I know you thnk we are die hards, but some of us have different soil types than you, soil here can go from loam, sand, peat, high clay contents,in a matter of fields,no one is saying it will not work,I have tried it, and dont like using it I believe it can be effective, when used right, most farms around me are small farms and wont spend that amount of money, alot are sceptical about it,traps in my mind work in any soil type's,and mole catcher's should catch moles, as in the farmer see's where his money is going, again in my mind catching them is where the skill is, the old men who passed down there li
  11. Totaly agree I am having to change what I do now, everythings shy,I am still catching mind but having to adjust my ways, using all legal methods,at one time you could mop up a couple of litters of cub's in no time, now they are well grown when the emerge from the maize fields,as that's harvested late up here, and pot shotter's cause nothing but problems,
  12. It still remains they were taking part in a legal activity, the antis were there to cause obstruction to a legal activity, which is discrimination, against us in my eye's the police will not deal with it, as it is a hot potato,in the end if the police wont protect the hunts legal activity they are at fault not us,I bet the antis shouted worse things at the hunt are they in court,no but truth is they complain, and we dont [or not enough anyway] remember the squeaky wheel gets oil, I dont know if the huntsman said that and the truth is I dont care, that person was put there to generate that respons
  13. It is everytime, too many people comment its cruel with out really taking time to understand it,and I feel hunting with dogs is veiwed with real prejudice, and suffer's real discrimination,so to hear it from one of our own is bad in my eye's, we must use rational thoughts when forming opinion, not ones based on emotion, hunting need's to go on for the next 1,000 yr's,not victim of a unjust ban, forced by ministers with a real lack of impartiallity, and intent on there own political gain with no grasp of the role responsibilities that they signed up for,ie to serve the people,
  14. Foxes killed by hunt packs die Instantly,I am not going to get into this, your opinion is your opinon,I have held a firearm cert for 27 yr I have shot foxes with many calibers and yes its quick in the right hands, there in lays the problem, people can miss the vital spot, lame, use the wrong caliber,a multitude of problems can occur, but one thing I know for sure, them hounds dont laim, or use the wrong caliber, and if they miss theres no harm done, but as sure as eggs are eggs if its caught its dead, and for any one dicipline within the hunting community, to take the moral high ground in my opinion
  15. What a f---ing knob you are,go away,or better still get banned. I hope he is saying that because he is an out and out dog man,you never know, the old man prefered to see a dog on them,
  16. Other people did sell them, you could get them from pro trapper when he was trading,I got mine from steve via ebay, but the springs are now starting to get weak,so will need some more myself,I allso need some more half barrels,if I can find some worth buying,
  17. I have never seen a team of idiots like it total fool's, there not bothered about TB they think they cant catch it from lettuces,
  18. You find a good round stick with it,as I know as living close to you, getting amo consistantly can be a challenge, so I load my own now,but if you can get a good supply that suits your gun you are a lucky man, keep with it
  19. They are the best day's arnt they,I remember when it was a big money bag tied at the top for the ferret, pocket of nets 410 or the little dog spot on, done miles and miles like that,
  20. I have one of them north star's on my 223 there good little silencers cant get used to the fact you dont need a bush for them,
  21. Never tried getting one in the boot of the car ???????? Bit tight I know,I find the trick is to try and de-clutter,the lighter I work the more enjoyable it is,when I have to carry gear I do use the quad on the little trailler, but the availability now of golf trolly parts and batteries I am sure someone will be able to sort something out,I gave it thought after my ungaurded comment, and anything that can help people into field sports can only be good, there's enough people out there who are partially disabled, who would use your idea to carry there gear either ferreting or decoying, good idea goo
