  1. I have one of the tenterfield fox calls and they do work,to get there attention I have only had it a short while and I am still learning how to get the quieter noises perfected,I have used electronic callers, the little plastic best fox callers, and at the moment I am useing polystyrene on glass,I recon its a case of pure experiment I used to be good calling of the back of my hand,I struggle now to get the pitch right, experiment play around you will find what works for you, good luck
  2. Yes that's the machine, what a waste of money I do farms thats had one on, and if I am not mistaken the law only allow,s its use in empty run's no doubt some one will put me straight on that,it works by collapsing the run's most mole runs are made over time and eventually can get rather extensive, its mainly when the runs are cleaned out when you see most of the activity, or a new mole move's in for instance when you have cleared a run out with traps, when they use them rodenator's they colapse the whole run, if the mole is still alive you want to see the clearing they do afterwards, they either s
  3. Sent you a pm mate, still ongoing project been using a home made one from mesh, and a borrowed shop bought one, but time and opportunity have not been there, however spring will see that change,
  4. That sounds good mate, trouble is this year I cant find a bloody damson, first year I have failled use sloes and a few plums that will take you to where you want to go Tottaly agree we have vertually no sloes, and no plums, unless commercially bought and I think that takes the fun out of the game a little,so back to weat and sultanas for the wheat whiskey, fresh start in spring with the dandelion, and elder flower and hope and prey the blossom holds this year for everything else, all my usual spots are bare,I have a good spot just up the road where I get a feral supply of a red goose berry
  5. Actually, the germans used hydrogen cyanide the same gas as cymag produced. The gas pellets you can get nowadays, phostoxin or talunex produce phosphine gas. well i'm wrong then but ain't that far out ,, if i am wrong ???? I aggre with logun its bad shit no matter what name it has
  6. That sounds good mate, trouble is this year I cant find a bloody damson, first year I have failled
  7. Tell you, I would love to see all the hunt line up goose step them hand in air shooting zeech hail, everyone every time they are seen, they are little hitlers and cant take there own medicine, big circle around them,
  8. I use a collar and piece of rope, like alot of people works spot on always said I would maybee get a proper collar, maybee off gaffer, but dont think I will change the rope, too reliable
  9. Top stuff mate, keep him interested a very proud moment for any dad,he will remember that for the rest of his life,a true memory I took my boy last yr and shot a roe doe,I thought the bloody game boy had corrupted his brain,he had spent some time shooting ducks with me, but always thought he would not be able to concentrate enough for stalking well I was well wrong,Ishot the doe at around 180yds as after a long slow stalk we couldnt get any closer,I came back the proudest dad in the world,
  10. you really dont know what you are missing, its a meat I never tire of dont eat it enough mind but always use what I catch, try substituteing chicken with rabbit in a curry its spot on,it lends itself to all kinds of recipies
  11. Try the lightly fried woodys wrapped in bacon, with a big field mushroom with a little garlic butter and black pudding in the cup, some freshly fried tomatoes on the side, beuty full,
  12. I always strive to eat everything I shoot other than magpies rats and such, any excess goes to friends or neighbours,
  13. This is what you get when you bring seeds and saplins in from other countries, why do we need to do that, why cant we support our own nurseries I remember the dutch elm disease they could not stop that at all,the importers want sueing, for lack of disease control,
  14. jesus good price that, do you think he will let me put my lurcher dog over it
  15. I have always set mine just off , about a millimetre never set one touching, which might be a problem with light bullets for length
  16. thats the best way he can see what he is paying for, it also advertises your service when other farmers see them hanging on the fence, I have picked jobs up like that in past and some farmers ask you not to hang them, talunex or phoztoxine you have nothing to show but a big bill,
  17. Same here, I really don't like having to use it but some people are naive enough to think the mole just goes to sleep, it's success depends on the soil type you use it in, ie sand/ clay/ loam/ peat, allso depends on moisture levels, traps are much more effective in my mind,
  18. Do you know what the load was IE powder and bullet head ?
  19. You may have to load your own, but most people do stock the lighter stuff mind,if you are looking for long range you will be better with the heavier bullets, zx10mike is currently developing his heavy loads with his custom made 223 rifle but he had his made with a faster twist, it's a interesting calibre which loves foxes
  20. I am using 52 gr h/p And they are spot on,no problems my gun has a slow twist too, which means its better for lighter bullets I wanted to experiment with the heavier bullets, but I got the rifle at a very reasonable price so I tried it, I have stuck to 52 gr h/p but will try some really light stuff in summer just to see what happens trouble is I dont want to compromise any wind stability I have done ok on foxes this, year after a slow start it would be interesting to find out what people are getting with the 45 gr though
  21. I have never worked the real cost out,but two pounds a net is cheap, and I can assure you they are never as good as the ones you make yourself,it is a good little hobby a time filler in the summer months, either making rabbit or fox nets
  22. Absolute stonking looking dogs mate, that brindle and white one looks well I do like that one a lot,
