  1. sounds like a good idea to me, might give that a go come summer, hopefully get out and do some longnetting first with a couple of mates of mine that use them, aha funnily enough thats when i found time to make my net! I get a funny feeling you will get hooked, dont know for sure but we will see, when you walk across the field and you can hear them squealing in the net, its better than christmas I can tell you, more so when its your own net just like ferreting, but even to make a 30 yd net for around the small set's when ferreting, its hard to describe for me I love it,even when you experiment a
  2. That dog looks really well mate, bet it can do job too what a healthy looking animal its a credit to you,
  3. If I make a long net with out sheet netting as in knitting one myself,I wait till spring and make it over the summer period gives me something to look forward to when the season starts, nice and steady away I can do a few lines while her who must be obeyed watches emerdale or some crap,
  4. That's what I'm really looking forward to! Can't wait to get out on Sunday, hopefully get one hit my homemade net! Yeah great time filler, hoping the next one doesn't take as long aha. You will be suprised how quick you become with net making, its practice really,
  5. I have got to have ago at that, good video thanks for shareing it with us, now's the time to start saving
  6. Not sure what you mean by waiting time? It was filmed in Poland, no pigs local to me in Scotland I am afraid... Sorry mate didnt explain myself properly, most people I know sit in highseats for them, and wait into the dark,
  7. Well done mate, I have done it for years it's a great way of filling time,I even take the gear when I go camping, I have never been a reader or telly watcher, there's something satisfying about catching a rabbit in you own net,
  8. Top stuff mate, how long did you have to wait in total??Its somethng I have fancied doing for a long time, cant wait till they get up this way,
  9. Bloody hell sounds good, could feed the masses this year never seen as many crow's and rooks,
  10. Think it was a bad frost in blosum time this year, but its serious up here
  11. I have CZ's 17 hmr and .22 LR, can not fault them good reliable and accurate, real workhorse's worth their money
  12. Dont rule out P,E,S silencers I have one on my 6.5x55 they do smaller ones too,the north star I have on my .223 and it is spot on good little silencer,
  13. Never seen that one,I thought at first it looked like an old poorley healed wound,it was certainly better of dead I ithink, I would have been tempted to put some gloves on and dissect that a bit, I once shot a Pheasant years ago and as the dog got closer I could stink it,it had been shot in chest, probably off the roost with the old 410 and survived it,well that was the popular opinion at the time, and it was in a state, but not swollen up as bad as that,Its a strange one, it will be interesting to see what people say about it,someone on here will be able to shed some light,on it
  14. I think thats the key, I myself have lots of parcells of land dotted around and to be fair, back then so long as you didnt want a silencer you were in with a shout, they used more common sense and judgement I think, now its just a set of steps they follow, proceedures developed miles away by some one who has little time or need for common sense,
  15. You produce some lovely work mate, its a credit to you it really is, I might see if the missis wants to get me one for my whippet x for xmas
  16. Booldy hell, it was some time ago,did you swap the ration book or something, mine was 27 yr ago and I had to wait three yr to get it opened up,
  17. No mate, inside the battery pack is a sealed battery unit, these some times need replacing, depends how much work they have done or if they have not been charged correctly
  18. What a cracking team I really like that little brown terrier nice dog,
  19. That sounds fair price try them if they dont hold charge you can get batteries from most places and they are easy fo fit,£10-£15 after that you should have a good lamp and like weasel says they will last a long time
  20. Absolutely I have two and use them regularly,If I am honest I seem to change the reflectors ever three yr or so,I allso have a lightfoce and a lazer light, but tend to pick the clulight up more often than not, its light and easy to use, although there is a lot of new stuff out there that I have no experience of at the moment,so shop around someone on here will be knowledgable with the modern kit
  21. Good luck to the old fellow top respect, and his replacement will have a lot to live up to,
  22. Sportsman do kids stuff i think, allso mate try Bushwear.co.uk they are very good to deal with, well worth a ring,
  23. I totally agree with this, otters are now allso decimating wildfowl numbers grey partridge numbers where I am are in my mind seriously low, mink numbers are snowballing out of control, buzzards are like sparrows everywhere, where as the traditional country man used to control and manage his area with pride, everything was kept in ballance, the first time I saw my farther cry was the day they banned hunting,Its a sorry fact that they think the badger is a vegertarian like just like them, its the old story vegetarians there is no one harder to speak with, they have there opinion and thats it rational i
