  1. The only stupid question, is the one that doesn't get asked!
  2. My Mum still makes rook pie at 78 years of age, mixed with beef and bacon and its bloody lovely, but you have to use branchers or young ones. Having said that I have never given her any old ones to try it with!
  3. There is better software out there, but I just use windows movie maker for my ferreting videos, and I am using panasonic HD and GoPro HD cameras.
  4. Nice looking overnight accomadation that. Well done. I have something similar but a little squarer.
  5. 3 jills, but I am a once or twice a week ferreter at most, and thats enough for me!
  6. Oh yes a very regular occurence, silly birds!!......................
  7. Same thing nearly happened to me yesterday driving down the A525 towards Ruthin. Two off them flew low from over a hedge and were that close I was convinced I was going to hit the front one. It must happen quite regular as there was one dead at the side of the same stretch of road a few days ago. Bet you get a lot of lookers at this thread with the title you've put up!!
  8. Some nice colour tones there As for horses........teeth at one end, hooves at the other, say no more!!
  9. I wonder how many people who say they are no good, actually take off the standard bead that comes factory fitted because a bead is not needed.
  10. Thank god I was on my own when I read this, as otherwise I would have blurted it out to my mates!! :D
  11. Good shooting and nice looking rifle. Is the barrel a varmint barrel or standard, its looks the business.
  12. I shoot on grouse moor also. If possible try and get them down to the lower ground, or to areas where the cover is lower, such as the surrounding grazing/pasture. The .17hmr is easily deflected through even the flimsiest of undergrowth and even grass, so a shot at charlie in heather is a no no unless you have a clear shot at its head/chest. The other bit of advice that works well for me but it requires alot of time and effort, and a considerable amount of fieldcraft and planning, is to find out where it lays up in the daytime, (often in rock dens but also in the open in sheltered south

  15. i am about 1000 feet above sea level here approx. alot of the subs i fire seems to start to crack a little at my place. but having just looked it up its to do with temp mainly and not sea level. Just get out there and do it, instead of working out what changes in temp etc, do to the trajectory when paper punching. It might be more important if you were talking about many hundreds of yards. If I see a fox, crow, rabbit, maggie etc the only thing that concerns me is the range and wind speed, along with all the safety issues of backstop. Oblique winds are far more likely to raise or dro
  16. For me it depends what your game plan is. If your farmers want them inialating then ferret right through. Not for me though, I dont know many landowners that want the bunnies gone completley, and certainly were I am, they dont cause that much damage. I have seen land in the past that was crawling with bunnies and now they are clear, because they were hit too hard time and time again. Now if I am ferreting a fenced off area of land with young trees, then everything has to go. Thats what the landowner wants, but it would only be to clear the rabbits inside the wire and manage them outsid
  17. Thanks Matey I will take a look at it.
  18. Quite a few on the internet, but what is a good one for grabbing YouTube etc videos? Thank you.

  22. That's because the ones I do the vids of, and these today are one of the same. This place has quite a few warrens all within about 2 acres. I,ll get some pics up sometime of different areas I ferret, but they are the 3 and 4 hole burys with not so many bunnies. They just do.t make as interesting reading or pics.
  23. I’ve been working away in Wales for the last few weeks, and have a few more to go, but I am on day off today, and came home for the weekend. I made my mind up I would go out with the ferrets and see what was about. The boys were at school today and it’s the beaters shoot tomorrow, so it was going to be a day on my own, rather than with lads, who are great company, and went to school very reluctantly. Driving to my permission, the car thermometer was saying 1 degree outside, and visibility was poor on the tops, but ok lower down. I decided not to do the main warren, as I was on my own, and n
