  1. According to a recent BASC magazine, fox falls under the LEGAL definition of vermin. It would therefore be unlikely any prosecution would succeed. The other thing to consider is that a firearm certificate doesn't stipulate that the fox, CANNOT be shot with a hmr, or .22.
  2. No because he is authorised to use it for fox, provided of course the land is on his ticket or he as an open ticket.
  3. This cant be Whin coming back can it!!!!! Its got to be a wind up, but I didnt think he shot
  4. We all agree that there are better suited calibres for foxes if the circumstances warrant it, but what do you say to the farmer, who has a fox taking lambs and the only rifle he has imediatley available to him, is a 17hmr? Are you seriously expecting that farmer to do nothing about it? This actually happens to me on a regular basis were oportunist foxes appear, when least expected. One fox I shot last year, had a rear leg almost dangling off, were a mate had almost missed it with a .243, weeks before. My original comment to you was were you plucked the figure of yards from??
  5. Now that is something i agree with!!
  6. Which is exactly what everybody has been saying!
  7. You will then realise that you have contradicted yourself in one sentance. You have said that it is not a foxing round firstly, and then conceded it can be used on them up to yards!
  8. On what ballistics do you base the "up to yards?" or was it just plucked out of the air.
  9. Love the middle one from Skye, with the purple arial perspective.
  10. How about...... if you dont like the site......then find another one! I dont have an issue with non posters, they do no harm to anyone. If they can do harm, then that is probably because the poster has posted something they shouldnt have done!! I do have an issue with those that only appear to post critiscm of they way others do things, or when found out to be wrong they somehow twist things around to make out they didnt mean what they said! Someone has to take control of the site, and that for me is the un enviable position of the mod!
  11. I just love blonde jokes.........they are so true!!
  12. Bet it wont be long before the 15.5gr lead free bullets start hitting the uk markets. The HP's were supposidly for a controlled expansion.
  13. Have you thought that sometimes it is just an accidental hit on a person, rather than the topic. It happens to me sometime, and I am sure I cant be the only one to do it. Some people must like to come on here to learn something as well. There are quiet people in all walks of life. Sometimes those that say the most, actually say nothing at all!
  14. Romany. Great pics. I dont know if this will help you at all, but I generally find that at nesting time is one of the best times to get close to them. (I dont mean going anywhere close to their nests though. The tend to have quite defined flight lines between their hunting grounds and their nest site, and if you can get underneath the flight line or close to their feeding ground this may help. One moonlit night last year, I was luck enough to be only a few metres away from one, and the boggy just kept circling around me, backlit by the moon and the stars. Although you see them thro

    Tame fox

Good conditioned fox for a townie. Looks as good as a fell fox.
  16. It was I thought when I am not in work meant I am out of work I know its fairly poor for work in your neck off the woods and know a fair few mates struggling for work your way as use to work as instrustor in surival in around your area . ATB Cookie No i just meant that my time is divided into being in work or being out hunting, as currently i live a lone and have no mates Well, at least none that i dont see on a days ferreting / hunting. I'm fairly lucky in that respect mate, i have had a decent job for the last couple of years, which pays pretty well and allows me to be flex
  17. My point exactly when I used "the foxes getting injured by shot gun arguament" There seems to be to many armchair hunters that are quick to condem without actually thinking about what they say, and indeed what they have said in the past.
  18. Occasionally take a folding glock shovel, if in soft shallow soil on what I know is a small bury, but realistically they are no good for ferreting. I use a good bulldog but there are plenty of other good makes out there as well.
  19. Duncan. I tried a few when I first bought the hmr, but decided on sticking with the vmax as it had a slightly flatter trajectory, and at 200 it is only a couple of ft/lb less than the 20grHP, according to research. I just thought that if I was to stick to one bullet then it would be the vmax. I seem to remember the 17gr bucked the wind a little better as well as a result of its slightly faster mv. I would have to check this though.
  20. Nothing wrong with deer hunter mate, I've had the Ram jkt and trousers now for at least 10 yr and wear them all the time. Just bought Ridgeline Monsoon jkt, and although it is good it isn't that much better. Both bits of clothing have their own pros and cons.
