    Don't label is all with the same brush, yes there are some cowboys out there who have no respect for the animal, but I am sure you would have found those in the dog world as well. I do both, but follow the terriers above board, and love to see the Hounds being exercised!!The rifle though is an essential tool in critical vermin control on the moor, and it is done with good reason and not for sport.

    About 3 years ago I was catching that many from one spot I had, that I was releasing them in two other spots at the landowners request. Years ago large bags of rabbits were shot in one of the spots and he wanted to see if the numbers could be built up again. The other spot only the occasional rabbit was seen during daytime and only a few more at night.Now, the one spot has quite a lot of rabbits but we are still maintaining a self imposed ban on taking any large numbers of them, and will only take the occasional one for a trap or for the table.     i know what your saying, its not a bad idea if you have the right place of course . im just saying i dont think you could explain your way out of it to a copper. a car load of live coneys i mean you're on your way back from pets at home and you have 30 nieces and nephews who all asked for a rabbit for Christmas It's illegal to do what you're doing, right? but you're doing it and it's working out well for you.....so why announce it to the world?? just keep your head down and enjoy the sport you've created for yourself.....you're just going to end up drawing unwanted attention to yourself

Where is that in law as I thought that only applied to alien species?Not saying you are wrong but the fox is native to this country. If as I have read before it is because it is a vermin species, that that means anyone with an hmr can shoot them! The only thing I have ever seen is that it must be humane to release them in terms of, if they are urban foxes then it may be inhumane to release them into the wild. So many operate catch and

    A wooden square frame about 30cm, with grooves cut into the sides and bottom with a router, and then remove able and replaceable pieces of hardboard can be slid in from the top. Wooden spikes to hold it in the ground.

    Same as bud, just makes me laugh with some on here. Hunting is banned and cannot be talked about apart from what it was like pre ban. Some think though that for years to come they will be able to stick pics up and claim they were pre ban when their age will ultimately let them down.The best thing to do is enjoy what you do, enjoy a pint down the local after a day out with the lads, or have a look at the Irish or european forums.

    For anyone interested in clearer night skies, you can join in on the 2013 star count. All it entails is spending 5 minutes counting as many visible stars in the constelation of Orion, using only the mark one eyeball. The survey is open until the 16th Feb, and anyone taking the time to complete it, gets entered into a draw for a decent telescope. Although it is run by CPRE (campaign to protect rural England) it is a UK wide survey.     The trouble is on some permissions they want everything killing, usually the equine places, forestry and the golf course, but these for me are the permissions you can get recommended from. The farms up our way are the ones were you get the sport as they aren't right bothered about a few rabbits.

    Same as, went out in the snow with the ferrets this morning for a couple of hours, a few tracks about but not many. All the holes appear waterlogged and the only rabbits I saw we're those put up from clumps of rushes. Most rabbits my way now seem to only live in the wAlls at this time.

    I was more thinking if you we're going to put a hide somewhere or you were going to try and ambush them, then at least baiting an area will make it easier. Other than that stalk them.

    Start feeding them with corn to bait them to an area. You only need a few hand fulls every few days and they will soon come in to where you want them.

    Get the farmer to show you the tenancy agreement, as that will show whether he can give permission or not. If the keeper has smashed up the gas gun, then that is criminal damage whichever way you look at it. But..if he is working for the landowner, rather than a syndicate who rent the sporting rights, then he may be the one you have to approach. You will get opinions on here, but the only way for sure is to check the small print!
